So, for those who havent heard... this weekend was KILLER!! Went to see a movie with a friend, as we were leaving she ran into an old coworker...he wanted our spot for his car...pulls around the corner in a candy apple red Dodge Viper!!! So, anyway, all boring chat aside, I got to DRIVE!!! Totally incredible, I am so in love!! She was awesome!! 825 HP, handled like a dream...the power was unbelieveable!!! I would almost give up my bike for a car like that!! So, thats all, just wanted to share! :cin:

I cant remember all the details, I was a lil dazed and glassy eyed after taking her out... I know he had a twin turbo system (i think the venom system), full racing setup, custom heat shielding, a custom frame addition to assist with the torque, etc, etc... he was totally cool, gave us the keys, we took her out to play... i got pulled over but no ticket, that cop was furious at me (we were on private roads and he couldnt keep up)!! then he thought we stole it, but he didnt even have a clue what it was...called it in as a red sports car, unknown make and model...*sighs* dork. I only said I might consider trading it...its his weekend only baby...not an everyday driver so gas would be no obstacle :wink: as for handling, compared to anything else I have driven that is the least bit sporty, and for as large as it is...it was insane!! Gives new meaning to hugging the turns, and the feel of it beneath you, there is no fear that she'll leave you, but the torque was incredible, ya just got to hang on and drive it *ahem* like you stole it!! But i had permission!!

I don't really like the way they sound BUT I love the way they look and handle. The wife and I were fortunate enough to get to drive an SRT-10 around a track for a few hours last year and had a blast. We drove them on a road course and an auto X track while being critiqued by an instructor from Skip Barber's driving school. :dthumb:

Vipers are brutal. None of that fancy traction control BS the vettes have. YOu really have to know how to drive to keep from wrapping it around a tree. All this talk of vette vs. viper...I'd take either one, but I want a bike first!!! BTW, one of the biggest problems with handling a viper, at least the older versions, is the weight distribution. They are (or at least were) very front heavy, so the back end always liked to come around. Not sure if Dodge has changed that or not. The nice thing about the vettes is that Chevy has worked very hard to get the weight distribution very close to equal to help it handle better. But yeah, Vipers are more about exclusivity than anything. And they are nice to look at.

Whats wrong with ostentatious when you have a work of art like that?? It is a beautiful speciman of a car, in my eyes rarer than most (at least here in my area) and it deserves the attention it gets! I know many of you are debating whats better, but why not appreciate each car for itself, realizing that they all have their good points and are worthy of the respect you give each one in their own right? In my eyes a vette in no way compares with a viper, :idk: you see vettes all the time (at least here) and i just dont find them all that cool. Whereas something like the viper (1 of only 3 in my area) is just an incredible thing, the same as the Maserati that is driving around here...both are incredible and that much more so b/c of the rarity...
