Mods take care of the nasty spam that members never see, approving all f/s threads, new members, some pics, etc as well as monitoring the site for inappropriate content. We also depend on you guys to let us know if there is something we have missed. I noticed when I became a mod I spent awhile digging into old stuff and learning the ropes and it did affect my :whore: . I also spend much more time just reading, not really commenting unless I feel it warrants the effort...:idk: Everyone will be different... Rae summed it up pretty well in an earlier post. There is no mod handbook, no requirement or anything. These fine folks have volunteered to accept more responsibility, that's all. No member is perfect, except maybe the one that signed up and never came back post. I don't care if someone posted questionable content, necessarily, the selection has a lot more to do than just that. Did they do it once or five times? Do they handle themselves in a mature way etc. Read on... So, many of you have asked what it takes to be a mod and how they are chosen. Well, I don't have a checklist of qualifications, or any hard criteria. I do like to choose people that are the site a lot, for obvious reasons. How people handle themselves in various situations is also important. Then, there is the "gut feeling" factor, which isn't quantifiable in any form. I have a mental list of people I would choose as well as a list of people that have emailed or PM'ed me volunteering for the position. These lists change. Who was on it 6 months ago, might not be the same today. Based upon those lists and the feedback I get from the existing mods, we come to a decision. The latest additions were discussed for the better part of a month before anything happened. I wish it was more scientific for you, but it's not. And if you volunteered, you should not feel slighted in any way. Maybe your next in line? Mods come and go, look at Need4Speed and GSXR750DJ! They were online ALL the time in 2004, now they're barely here. One of our current mods can't make it on as much as he'd like. Life takes all of us down avenues that sometimes demand our attention other places. When this happens with mods, we add more - it's that simple. So, again, congrats to the new mods!
