Ford Super Duty Trucks at 2007 SEMA Show
Ford F-450 by DeBerti Designs
If you truly love your bike, then you'll really love this truck. Dallas Smith Corp., the world's leader in Axleless®, Lo-floor™ vehicles has applied its unique front-drive technology to the 2008 Ford F-450 Super Duty to deliver the ultimate hauler for your Harley. The 6.4-liter Powerstroke® turbo-diesel supplies plenty of pulling power for this low-rider, while the extra-extended cab and Katzkin leather interior provide plenty of comfort for the long haul. The Deep-V bed is custom-made for safe and secure transportation of your two-wheeled prized possession. Just drop the gate for easy loading and unloading. The DeBerti F-450 looks sharp in deep black PPG paint accented with bright purple pinstripes at the beltline and Alcoa aluminum wheels wearing large Bridgestones.

GearGrabinGuy 10-25-2007, 01:57 PM What.... Why? That rear axle has got to be FUNKY. And why not just get a trailer.. You could only get one maby 2 bikes in there. Im betting its gunna fail.
smileyman 10-25-2007, 01:57 PM Awesome!! I think i'll make a rolling Jacuzzi out of that bed!!!
Really for the money i would rather have a fuel efficient 6 cyl and pull and enclosed trailer for a race hauler.

"unique front-drive technology"... I am guessing no rear axle.

:iagree: I think the market would be better served with a Ranger size version of that...

small 6-cyl SUV so you can sleep in the car comfortably instead of wasting money on hotels.
blueyenupe 10-25-2007, 02:15 PM A front-wheel-drive F-450? Well, besides that being mentioned in the Autoblog posting, look at how low that rear bed is. There's no way a conventional solid rear axle can reside under that bed, not to mention a hulking F-450 rear axle. Perhaps a motorcycle-like dual swing arm design with an axle/differential combo tucked up under the cab could work, but not a traditional truck-type solid rear axle. So in order to get that ultra-low bed, and without resorting to some super complex rear drive axle set up, FWD it is.
Regardless, the big advantage of this super low bed is a super low center of gravity when loaded, which is always a plus for a truck.
I like it, if for no other reason that I love to see new ideas being introduced into traditionally conservative pickup truck thinking. Oh—it's built by the Dallas Smith Corp., which makes the Axleless®, Lo-floor, and will be on display at SEMA 2007.
One more trick to this truck: Check out the cab. It's a Crew Cab/Super Cab combo. So take that CrewMax and Mega Cab!
PlayfulGod 10-25-2007, 04:54 PM my bet is on gear reduction boxes like the original n army versions of the hummer have.
ebbs15 10-25-2007, 05:01 PM anyone spy any tie down spots? cause I don't:skep:
I thought it was cool but then I saw the weird rear axle... or lack there of... :nonod:
I'll just get an enclosed trailer and a new Tacoma quad cab for the price of that:2cents:
ceo012384 10-25-2007, 07:08 PM That thing friggin' sucks.
blueyenupe 10-25-2007, 09:45 PM If I ever bought a Ford my family would probably disown me. But if this thing sells then maybe Chevy will come out with something similar. I have limited exerience loading my bike onto a normal truck but the few times I have done it have been a real pain in the ass!!

It's not bad, just find a hill to back against and then you don't have to use ramps.
Crazy250 10-25-2007, 10:01 PM or a loading dock with a ramp. your local bike dealership might have one, mine does.
:skep: why would I want to trailer my bike? couldnt i just ride it  :idk: I'm lost.

If you do track days/race and use race plastics/slicks/set up for the track, your bike isn't road legal. You could also ride dirt and not be on a dual sport.
trock 10-25-2007, 10:05 PM I don't really like it. When I bought mine we just backed up to a hill and rolled it in.
removed all the BS including my own, let's keep this one on topic.

ptowntsi 10-26-2007, 02:01 AM or just get a regular truck with a ramp, leave the tail gate down and put two bikes in it just the same.

GearGrabinGuy 10-26-2007, 11:07 AM Moral of the story this front wheel drive F-450 FTL!!!!
Atlantasmittie84 10-26-2007, 06:02 PM For probably the same price you could get a 2year old 4door Nissan Titan with a Trailer. And do some mods to the Titan and for a few grand have it running in the mid14s with killer gas mileage for a full size truck.
But that thing is super freaking ugly and the only purpose it serves is to increase the size of some redneck wannabe's penis.
blueyenupe 10-26-2007, 06:13 PM It's not bad, just find a hill to back against and then you don't have to use ramps.
we tried that and we still needed 4 guys to get it up that ramp!! My pops has a 250 Chevy Siverlado Diesel Duramx and my bike wouldn't even fit in straight.
I'm thinking about getting one of those old chevy's with the low bed and buy one of those ramp tailgates. That's what the dealer delivered my bike on and it was so easy getting it on and off that thing.

but the Titan had ALOT of issues it's first couple years... I'd go with the new Tundra if I were to buy a new full size truck... Toyota is a little better about new model reliability... and well.. it's a TOYOTA... 380hp and 401ftlbs... STOCK...
Atlantasmittie84 10-26-2007, 07:00 PM The Toyota Tundra is freaking sweet. Looks like a train coming down the road.
In general if you stay with Toyota, Honda, and Nissan you won't run into problems. Which I know lots of people with Nissans and Toyota trucks and none of them have ever had a problem.
I did hear that Toyota or Nissan has a Diesel truck in the works that will compete (Or more likely destroy) with the Big 3 diesels.
But either way I'll never buy an American vehicle again. Not until they boot the UAW atleast. The only reason to buy American now is if you want a specialty vehicle like a Corvette, Viper, Mustang, etc. Or a Dually.
GearGrabinGuy 10-26-2007, 07:01 PM we tried that and we still needed 4 guys to get it up that ramp!!
Wow me a one friend can dead lift my bike in the back of my dad F250 with 35s on flat ground... you need some bigger friends. :dthumb:

dear god I hope so... if that's the truth I know my first purchase when I get back from Korea
oh... and this year was the first year Toyota over took GM as the top selling automaker in the world.

You only need 1 person to load a bike... TRUST me.
I guess you have one ramp and are trying to push a 400# bike up a ramp.
First off... help your self and the incline. If your driveway slops down like most... put the truck in the street, with the wheels at the curb. That will lessen the angle.
Then with 2 ramps... lets do it. That's one ramp for you and one for the bike. Start the bike... now with you standing next to the bike, idle the bike up the ramp while feathering the clutch. Don't worry once you get up, even if its getting fast... the front of the truck bed WILL stop you.
Also, ALWAYS strap your ramps to the truck. That way they don't move away on ya.

PlayfulGod 10-26-2007, 10:58 PM bet the chop dont fit in tat new truck huh lol
pickle.of.doom 10-26-2007, 11:01 PM Yeah thats how I do it too. That F450 would make it nice and easy though!
Gas Man 10-26-2007, 11:15 PM Pickle... Twisty use to give me chit all the time for my way... but it works... why do all that pushin on the plastics and crap... the motor has the power to do all the grunt work for you... LET IT!
Gas Man 10-26-2007, 11:15 PM The chop might fit if you could use the tail gate as more extension... but then you would need a ramp... sweet truck regardless.

From the quick conversation I had the Japanese company that was going to do it was going to release it this year or next but decided they wanted to perfect it even more and fix some stuff. Which oddly to me that sounds like a Honda move. But a jump from a 6cyl (I'd love to take that 6cyl V-tech and put it in a mid 90s accord) Ridgeline to a Dually would be freaking crazy. The truth probably is that the Japanese company probably has the vehicle as perfect as it can get but wants to let Detroit destroy it's self some more.
I do wonder if it's Mitsubishi. They've been pushing those 4cyl Diesel Box Trucks a decent bit. Even putting Box Truck adds on Housewife programing. Which is very odd. Maybe they are trying to get their name known as a worker before they throw a full size truck out there.
I'll have to look into it.
But a Tundra or Titan Diesel:drool:   :yikes: :phat:

I really hope it's either a Toyota or Nissan...
The Honda Ridgeline is a joke of a truck... Independent suspension in the REAR? please...
So you don't know WHO you talked to?
I imagine Toyota is a couple years away... they just introduced the 5.7L and after all I believe the New Tundra is still considered a 1/2 Ton pickup... so they've got another step before they'll be putting out a 1Ton Diesel. (a Diesel 3/4Ton would be perfect for me... but wouldn't sell worth **** I'd imagine)
GearGrabinGuy 10-26-2007, 11:54 PM You only need 1 person to load a bike... TRUST me.
Oh yeah you do, I was just sayin 4 guys is an over kill. We just didnt have a ramp at that particular time. I usualy use the ditch method, but i was in Tulsa and I didnt feel like explaining to the cops as to why I was driving around in peoples yards. Darn tulsa people arnt the brightest :idk:

My dad has a Ridgeline... Tows a lot of stuff with it... He's probably owned 20 different trucks over his lifetime and he says it's the best truck he's ever owned. I like it too.

Why do you think a 3/4 Ton Diesel wouldn't sell??
As long as it was in line price and quality wise with the Ford/Chevy/Dodge it should??
Even Ford is in the works with a V6 diesel for their F150's. Talking a 2010 release.

I think Toyota will introduce a 3/4Ton Tundra before the introduce a Diesel... but then again the Tundra is a big truck already... and I may be wrong about it being a 1/2 ton.

Oh. Who I heard the Diesel Import from was some Drag racer guy I had as a customer. He had 28mustangs (None stock) and many other vehicles and we got to talking about cars and imports and domestics and how the Japanese are killing Detroit. And how much we love it. Again not sure about the validity to it but if so that would be freaking sweet.

Even if this is my absolute favorite truck EVER, that is a piece of CRAP. no tie in points that I can see, no rear axle(cant haul a damn thing) front wheel drive, yeah. thats CRAP.
that aint a truck, its a yuppie toy to haul crap. what the point? it MUST have a truck axle in the rear, and be REAR WHEEL or four wheel drive, never front wheel drive in something weighing that freakin much. besides, what happens when you put too much in it? the wheels bow inward?

Atlantasmittie84 10-27-2007, 07:00 PM Holy Crap. I just noticed it's not even a Dually. I bet that tire is expensive as hell.
I know now that that truck is for your Constuction Foreman's and Wannabe Rednecks who live in Multi-million dollar homes in Suburbia but feel because they live 20miles from country they are rednecks. They will get it seeing those commercials of the truck being used heavily yet they won't use it at their construction site becuase they don't want to scratch it.
