I think the 848 is just the ticket. Not too big not too small. If priced like it's big brother it should compete well against the GSXR750 and although more expensive than the current crop of middle weights may just be the ticket:cheers: Can't wait until the reviews and comparisons are under way...

WET CLUTCH IN THE HOUSE! I'm sure there's some purists out there who are shaking there heads right now. I guess it saves some weight, and is more durable. I read somewhere the 848 has a better power/weight ratio than the Ducati 999. Madness...

Wet clutch, dry clutch..whatever...that bike is incredible. Thank God the evil rien of Pierre Terrblanche is over and Ducati is making truly Italian designed bikes again.

the 999 and 749 cant hold a candle to the 1098 and 848- at least in looks and sex appeal

$13K??? For the extra $2K I'd get the standard 1098.

Looks like they killed the ST3 / ST4? I can't find it on the website. The 696 looks good, but I'd want a bikini fairing option before I could justify the purchase, I need at least a little wind protection.

The 1098 is 3K more new than the 848. I went to the launch event and it is basically the same bike frame, body, but missing the monoblock brakes and, of course the power. You can get a used 1098 for just a few hundred bucks more than a new 848 and probably get some mods. The 848 is beautiful, but the 1098 is nicer IMHO. -z
