:woo: :woo: The MSF Course!!!! Once again, MTP out performed me. He is quite pleased with himself (but that is only because it is a rare thing). I had trouble doing the 2 U turns inside the box. Off to DMV next week and then I will officially be licensed! :yikes:

Congrats finished mine last weekend.... you didnt get your license after you completed the course.. where you from?? Pa stamps your right their after you pass the test.. and yes u-turn in the box is def weird at 1st CT is azz backwards! You take this course, get a waiver, have to bring it to the bowels of DMV, take a short written test but the driving part is waived and then you get your license. In MA you do like in your state, take the course and the license comes in the mail. And I will have nightmares about that stupid U turn for months. I didn't drop the bike, or put my foot down but I did go outside the box.

 congrats!!! I put my foot down on the first 2 tries then I got it, it's NOT an easy feat. I hope you guys get an easy fall so you can get out there and get some miles under your helmet. :dthumb: GO PATS!!! What kind of bikes are you 2 getting? Good question Vator. I would like a Honda Shadow 750, although seeing the people on the sport bikes through the course, it makes me wonder if I would rather have a sport bike. They definitely had an easier time through corners and overall handling. The original intention though was for cruisers. MTP likes BMW's - not really sure what he wants. We start shopping this week - that is if I can get out of work prior to 8 PM any night this week :motz:

The weather is definitely more suited to riding in Florida but do you miss all the hilly, twisty roads?

You had to do three of them. I go and do three and ride back to the instructor ( state police officer ). He tells me "that was only two, do it again". I go and do three more. I ride back and he says thats was only two. :skep: So I go and do five and come back. He chuckled and said " That's enough". Then it was drive up to the end of the parking lot while up shifting three gears. I did it on my '74 H1 500. I must have been at 1200 rpm in 3 rd gear when I down shifted to make the turn. Two strokes don't like low rpms Once again, Congrats  :seeya: Jeff

Man I can't wait to take my MSF. Texas is like that, you take the course get a waiver and then take the written test. I have been riding my bike around town just getting used to it. So far the only real problem I have is feeling out the friction points with the clutch and throttle. Other then that it just feels natural.

Good question Vator. I would like a Honda Shadow 750, although seeing the people on the sport bikes through the course, it makes me wonder if I would rather have a sport bike. They definitely had an easier time through corners and overall handling. The original intention though was for cruisers. As you know, I own both. Listening to others who said to get a 600 cruiser as a first bike was the biggest mistake I made. A 750 should be the bare minimum you consider in a cruiser. A typical cruiser's gearing, weight, and torque curve conspire to make for easier control over a sport bike with the same displacement.

I bought my 1100 as a first bike. Glad I did. I know I would have wanted to upgrade a couple of months later if I hadn't.

I bought my 1100 as a first bike. Glad I did. I know I would have wanted to upgrade a couple of months later if I hadn't. Serious. Riding the Honda is almost painful because of the lack of power. When I have the $$$ I'll be selling it and picking up a Monster 695.

I couldn't do the double U-turn worth a damn, either. :seeya: Scissors - well thank goodness someone else had trouble with it. The instructor pulled me aside and said "look, you are smokin everything else so don't sweat it. Do your best - go outside the box, it is less points then putting a foot down and you will be fine"

Much easier if you pull in the clutch and work it like a big bicycle! Not much different than my mountain bike- just heavier.

I just finally decided that it wasn't going to happen and smoked the rest of the test. The most fun part of the test was the accelleration and braking part. accellerate as quick as you can, shift into second, and when you get to the cone brake hard and stop as quick as possible. The instructor had a chart with distance vs. time to figure out your speed, to judge how far you got to stop. The chart had figures up to 23 mph... I was off the chart, but still stopped with over 10 ft to go for that speed... Guess I'm a speed demon from the beginning :redevil:

That was probably the part I did the best at. The faster the bike, the more in control I felt.
