my harley dealer rant

last xmas my hubby bought me the used v-rod (the dealership knew it was for me) that i traded in this year for the new nightster (again, knew it was for me). well, along with the new bike comes all the perks like the free 1 year hog membership and the discount card, catalogs, etc. my rant...everything is in my hubby's name, even though we are both on the title. it's like i don't even exist!! he even asked them to list my name and they said it doesn't matter, i can use it too. it matters to me!! the real pisser is that he already got all that stuff himself when he bought his bike brand new. he doesn't need it. now when they have the new bike owner's night, the invitation will come addressed to him...even though he never sets butt on this bike!! it has me so irritated that i am pressuring him to transfer the title to me alone. until he does, i will never feel like it is really my bike. i also feel like it is an insurance policy for his parents so they know i'll never be able to up and leave with the bike (as in divorce, which never crosses my mind). my sister-in-law's ex-boyfriend tried that. broke up with her and tried keeping the bike she helped pay for. now i pay for his mistakes. this whole issue chaps my ass! i never heard of giving someone a gift and putting your name on the tag as well. also, i'll never buy another bike from this dealer again. not unless they give me the proper attention. :nonod: that concludes my rant.

Everything for my wife's HD comes to me... she don't seem to care... cause we always say its her bike... everybody at the dealership loves her and knows its her bike. And yes, even her HOG membership is really mine... oh well. Not like I'll ever use it for anything.

Not like I'll ever use it for anything. i know it shouldn't be a big deal, but i just don't feel like an equal. they didn't as much as make eye contact or address me personally when we went to sign the papers. i felt invisible. then they put his name first on everything. kinda reinforced that feeling for me. guess i am just being to sensitive. For me... This falls under the "who cares" category. well, i guess it was good for raising your post count +1 at least.

That kind of stuff never bothers wifey or me. Hell, she makes the majority of ticket purchases etc.... At her work social functions-I am just Nita's husband.:wink: It's all good as long as I can drink their booze and eat their food.

Didn't pay a dime for it.... Yet the dealer addressed everything to her when they sent things in the mail. Even letters thanking her for purchasing the vehicle. It also irritated her. F#*K dealers. And which HD dealer is it? Battlefield?

no, it was laugerman's in york. my in-laws deal strictly with them. personally i like battlefield better. it's a much nicer looking place and they offer better selection on merchandise. but to go there to purchase a bike would just be sacrilege as far as my father-in-law is concerned. i spoke to the sales manager there once when i was looking for nightsters. seemed nice enough for me. but i do hear some bad things about that place as well. guess i just need to form my own opinion. i certainly have about laugerman's. and thank god i am not totally alone feeling this way. i was beginning to think i was just hyper-sensitive.

dunno. it was over the phone. but he was real pleasant and professional. that mighta been the guy i got the free buell beanie from though. laugerman's is small and only harley. no buells like battlefield. so don't waste your time there.

My wife is on the title for the bike but when I get tag renewal notice it comes in my name only. Its not fair but that just how it is. :idk:

Battefield doesn't sell Buell anymore either. So I won't be going back there. I have to go to Lebanon now for the nearest Buell dealer. when did that happen?!

I actually like Harleys, but the absolutely horrid service at the dealership I and my friends have been to have convinced me that it's not worth dealing with them, so I spent my money elsewhere. East Coast Harley, near my home, completely screwed a buddy of mine. He bought his bike from them, and it had a bad front end wobble right off of the lot. When he brought it in for warranty service, they said he must have hit a pot hole and refused to cover it. That, and a few other things, are the reasons he doesn't go there any more.

your not alone babe, its just something we gotta deal with occasionally! The same goes for alot of other things as well, like, I was the one totally into bikes and all, not my hubby when we started, but for a long time no matter what local dealer I went to, they wouldnt give me the time of day, but let me bring the hubby in and BAM, service out the ying yang!!

stupid! i think there's a market around here for them, perhaps just not next to harleys. it almost makes buells exotic bikes in this area. I guess they just weren't selling. Same reason every other HD dealer stops selling them. Hopefully the new 1125r will kick start the Buell sales again.

my gf's bike is in both our names, but her's is first on the loan. whenever we get something related to the bike, both names are on it, her's is first. At the dealership, they know which is hers and which is mine, and act like that. Though I do all the maintance on them, so she doesn't stop by much, except to :drool: over the new ones.

My salesman wanted to get the wife into the dealership and put the bike in a box with balloons and everything... but I already had my surprise ready. But anyway, my dealership just loves Uma and is always asking her about her bike.

But anyway, my dealership just loves Uma and is always asking her about her bike. yeah, i think you're right. the odd thing, the person that did all the paperwork with us and put his name on everything (without mine, not mine behind his) was a woman! you'd think she'd understand. :bslap: the only thing both our names are on is the title and the registration/insurance. that's the only places i see physical evidence that i own this bike as well. i won't buy any more bikes from that dealer. sounds like you have an awesome HD dealer. :dthumb:

For example, took the wife's sporty in for her first service. They take them in on Sunday and gaurentee them bk by end of of the week. They call me Thursday and say its done... they also replaced the throttle cables under warrenty cause the factory installed the wrong ones.. wrong length and could bind so they put the claim in, got the parts, replaced... all within 1 day early. THAT IS SERVICE!!!

itgirl - you have it going on - the complete package. Don't worry about what a piece of paper says or how people who don't know any better act. If you don't like the service, chose another that treats you with the respect you deserve but certainly don't dwell or worry about what one POS did. :cheers:

Go in the dealership with your hubby and order about 20k in aftermarked parts (should not be to hard) and then when you go to pay for it tell them since you cant get any respect without your husband tell them you are going somewhere else. Oh by the way long time to talk.

Yeah the place use to be a crap hole dealership.. but changed owners and name. They always treat me right...
