( I know you already ate but .... )
How thick is the steak? How do you like it cooked?
I come from a family of meat cutters/butchers that goes back many ,many generations. Good steak is never ever cooked more than medium. I prefer mine rare
Actually I consider mine done if I can stick a fork in it and I don't get bit :dthumb:
:seeya: Jeff NONE_too_SOFT 11-02-2007, 07:48 PM yea like i said i prefer medium rare, but ummm, i severly over estimated the amount of time it would take to cook that sucker. luckily it was only a five dollar round cut :D '73 H1 Triple 11-02-2007, 08:02 PM Spend a few bucks and get a George Foreman grill. It cooks from both sides at once.
You can cook a 1/2" thick steak in a few minutes or a 3/4" thick steak in about 4 or 5 minutes.
We have one that I bought about 4 years ago and I haven't had a dried out pork chop since :dthumb: You can cook all kinds of meat on it. brendanp 11-02-2007, 08:03 PM Yup, cooking a steak in the oven is just WRONG!!!:yikes:
BTW...I am the steak master!!!! NONE_too_SOFT 11-02-2007, 08:39 PM **** u guys, u think if i had the power of fire in my house i would even consider using the oven?
i go out and buy a bottle of wine, some pasta sauce, and a chunk of meat so i can have a nice dinner all by my lonesome.
i get home only to realize the gas grill has run out of gas, so now i have a cold steak and only an electric stove. brendanp 11-02-2007, 08:43 PM **** u guys, u think if i had the power of fire in my house i would even consider using the oven?

And yes, it has happened to me and they gladly gave up their bottle of propane to not hear me bitching.....:slol:
Damn dude that does sukk,,,been there. Almost not worth eating.
BTW, what cut was it? VatorMan 11-02-2007, 08:48 PM AHEM...It is not WRONG to cook a steak in the oven. Ruth Chris does it. They sear the steak on a grill and then finish it in the oven w/a pat of butter on it. Try it-amazing taste! Amblyopic 11-02-2007, 08:57 PM :iagree: Vator....
Hell I can cook a damn good steak on a stove too.... NONE_too_SOFT 11-02-2007, 09:04 PM round... ummm. something. dont really recall.
i just like the taste of meat im not going to pretend to know what i'm talking about. it was thick, red, and (used to be) juicy before i ate it. i'm gonna get a charcoal grill tomorrow and do it the right way. brendanp 11-02-2007, 09:08 PM Try drizzling a little Dry Vermouth (green bottle) over your steak just before you eat it... MMMmmmm Amblyopic 11-02-2007, 09:22 PM omg Brendan... Hellllz yeahz! VatorMan 11-02-2007, 10:11 PM round... ummm. something. dont really recall.

Seriously...poor man's grilled steak. Preheat oven to 500. Preheat Foremans grill. Salt and Pepper steak(both sides) prior to putting on Foreman grill. SEAR steak for 3 minutes. Place steak in pan-preferably iron-and place a 1/2 TSP pat of REAL butter on steak. Throw in the oven for 12 minutes. Let steak rest for 5 minutes prior to cutting.
If you REALLY want to get down...deglase pan with 1/2 cup of red wine...some salt and pepper and a little chicken stock. Pour reduced sauce over steak.
Watch G/F panties drop at your cooking awesomeness. byron12 11-03-2007, 01:07 AM I like to roast tenderloins and whole rib sections in the oven that is a special occasion type thing though. It is not uncommon in a resteraunt for a cook to grill mark the steak and then bring it to ordered temp in the oven. I have done that a few times myself but at home I don't care what it looks like and I like medium rare so easy to go all the way on the grill. s0ulburn 11-03-2007, 04:40 AM By the time you posted the question and got maybe three responses to your post, your steak would have been toast. sear it on both sides, lock in the flavor. Then cover and let cook for maybe 5 to 6 minutes. Gas Man 11-03-2007, 07:28 AM Watch G/F panties drop at your cooking awesomeness.
One major factor besides your stomach to learn how to cook. Don't neglect your "unit" when feeding your fat roll!
:slol: brendanp 11-03-2007, 09:38 AM The other thing you want to do when cooking a steak or roast is to start cooking it at room temp. If you like your steak or roast M.R. then you need to do this.
Cayene pepper adds a nice kick too! Amblyopic 11-03-2007, 10:32 AM Sounds like we need a TWF CookOut Challenge when y'all meet at the Gap this year for the gathering.... Bassplayer 11-03-2007, 02:49 PM Delicious!!
