TWISTY!!!!!!!!! what do you think????? GSXR1000DJ 12-20-2004, 10:47 AM Welcome to TWF. Glad to have you hear. The tail should fit with no problem but the fairings may not. The holes I don't think are going to line up. twisty 12-20-2004, 10:47 AM Yeah it wont work unless you drill new holes. I have both of those bikes and thought about doing the same thing. You will need some bondo and filler too Gas Man 12-20-2004, 10:50 AM See I knew Twisty would know. Cause I knew you had both model styles in your garage!!!! Thanks for not letting me down Twisty! :D GSXR1000DJ 12-20-2004, 10:52 AM Is that for the tail as well Twisty??? I knew the fairings wouldn't work. charha01 12-20-2004, 10:56 AM Thanks everyone for your fast response. I've seen the tail on a 99 before, but I'm more concerned about the upper front fairing (nose). It looks like it will work with a little mod, but I don't want to buy one and then get stuck with nothing more than a nice piece of plastic for my wall. twisty 12-20-2004, 11:03 AM If you can wait till tonight I take alook for you. Gas Man 12-20-2004, 11:05 AM No problem man, just post up some more....WELCOME!! GSXR1000DJ 12-20-2004, 11:06 AM If you can wait till tonight I take alook for you.
No...you go looky now. LOL Just kidding. charha01 12-20-2004, 12:25 PM Thanks Twisty (and everyone else). Let me know what you see tonight and I'll keep you guys in the loop on the project as it rolls along. charha01 12-21-2004, 12:50 PM Hi.... did you get a chance to check things out last night?
Thanks...... twisty 12-21-2004, 06:01 PM Yeah it is going to be a huge job. I would just spend the 350 bucks to buy new bodywork. Gas Man 12-21-2004, 09:36 PM So what you are trying to say is that by the time you would be done, that the body work would look like swiss cheese with all the spare mounting holes?? twisty 12-22-2004, 06:15 AM Yeah, if you want a discount on some bodywork let me know and I will help you. I can get the whole set for like 300 bucks. fender, upper, lower and tail. Hit it with a 400 grit and paint. charha01 12-22-2004, 08:04 AM Thanks Twisty for all help. Is the bodywork you are talking about for a 1999 or 2001? twisty 12-22-2004, 08:37 AM what ever year you want... Gas Man 12-22-2004, 09:17 AM what ever year you want...

Sweet. I HATE the look of the front on the older gixxers and I was ONLY looking at 2001 or newer. Now I have more options if I happen to find an older one that is in good condition and selling at a good price. charha01 12-23-2004, 07:57 AM Thanks Twisty... I'll definitely get back to you on the bodywork stuff!!! I've got the tail section on it's way already (ordered a few weeks ago), so once I see how it fits I'll make a few more changes. Have a Merry Christmas and keep the rubber side down.... twisty 12-23-2004, 08:28 AM My rubber side is in the garage... Gas Man 12-23-2004, 12:14 PM Yeah, but you could bump into it and knock it over or somin...so don't do that!!! :D | |
