upshift 12-27-2007, 07:49 PM Im contemplating selling my drum set (for lack of room in my room) and Im thinking of getting either a bass or a guitar in its place. My lil bro already has a guitar and Im thinking of getting the bass so we dont have two guitars. So my questions are:
1) Can a bass be as fun to play as a guitar?
2) And what are some good brands?
marko138 12-28-2007, 10:30 AM Yes it can be as fun...but pretty much sucks by yourself. Look into Ibanez, they make good stuff. I have an ESP bass and it kills.
Exile 12-28-2007, 02:58 PM I say Keep the drums man, figure something out! Drummers are rare

Very very true. So are bass players. Keep the drums. Buy a bass. Play them both. Then you've always got work.
upshift 12-28-2007, 08:52 PM Yeah its just that i have no room in my room :idk: I might just buy one with my set like u suggested marko. I will check out the Ibanez. I found a starter pack that looks pretty good.
Bassplayer 12-28-2007, 08:59 PM yes, bass is definitely as fun as guitar... in fact i do both hahaha
I play ibanez, (most affordable, and reliable, good sound) but the best ones are warwick, pedulla, ($$$$) and fernandes, but even some schecter.
Its a blast.
Good luck...

trock 12-29-2007, 12:01 PM Three to four years ago I bought a Fender bass starter pack thing. Had some pretty good times with it but other hobbies got the best of me and i never practiced enough so now it just sits in the corner of my room. Every once in a while I will pick it up and mess around for a half hour of so but nothing crazy.

Same here, except I got mine like 7-8 years ago and now I don't even remember how to play it so I don't ever pick it up.
Like Marko said, it is incredibly boring to play by yourself and my buddy that played the guitar really well and the reason why I bought the bass to try and start up a band moved across the country about the same time I quit playing. Never had any interest in continuing it after he moved.
