SOMETHINGS gotta change There's a drop down pocket at the floor line. Notice how the carpet extends down over the edge? It covers the top of the door where the window slots in, and the gap from moving a big panel. You can see the bottom edge of the body drops in the rear view. Maybe 6" at the edge drops ~4" and pulls out so the door can slide under the car. When it closes, that moves back into the normal position. Toward the end, the car drives up and the door opens before the car is completely stopped. While the car rolls those last few feet, the bottom corner is sliding down.

When I was a kid in the mid-50's, my neighbor had a lime-green Kaiser Darrin. The two-seater sports car had sliding doors that slid into the front fender. He let me sit in it, but the thing I remember most was the sliding door.
