Do you NOT wear gear?

I try to get away with as little as possible. It's too restricting most of the time. If I'm taking a long trip I'll wear gear but not for short hops. I'm sure this is not a popular choice around here but I don't like to stink after getting out of hot leathers.

99% of the time these days wear full gear. Been down without gear, learned my leason. Jeans protected me for about two feet. Road rash sucks.

Im with Busa babe..I wear as much gear as I can when Im out for a long ride, or a semi long ride..but to work and back or down for a pack of smokes or something..just jeans, sneakers, gloves and a lid. I know jeans arent the best thing, but better than nothing i suppose..heh heh..I never ride without gloves, or a lid. It's more safe to wear full gear, I know..but to each his own I guess.

Jacket, gloves and a bucket... always. Sometimes riding boots, never sneakers. Sometimes pants.

Jacket, lid, gloves, steel toe boots, and pants (usually jeans). You know in the summer, the more gear the faster you have to ride

helmet, boots, gloves, jacket, ALWAYS! The only thing I don't wear sometimes are my armoured pants. Depends on what the day is like, what I am wearing underneath etc etc. I know jeans don't protect, but them plus the pants are too much to put up with.

Always wear jeans and lid. Have worn a jacket before but not with this bike I have currently. Always sneakers. I am going tomorrow to look at the 2004 GSXR1000 and instead of selling my 750, I think I will trade it in so I can save some money with the trade in. Don't pay sales tax on the trade in amount. Nice. Will try to get some stuff out of the deal as well since it is a new bike. :) Hopefully I can get a jacket. LOL

I know a fella down in Alabama that prefers to ride nude but that is another story.. You ever had a skin graph or had road rash removed from you? Probably not. If you had you would wear FULL GEAR ALWAYS. Only squids ride without it. If you are worried about stinking after wearing full gear then get something other than leathers like a Phoenix jacket and some Icon jeans. I wear the Icon Recon jeans and they are awesome. I would be more worried about 6 months in the skin graph unit at the hospital then having to take an extra shower or two..

I think we need to clarify something here. To some people, wearing FULL GEAR, is all out total leather/body armour, lid, gloves, and riding boots. To others, wearing FULL GEAR, means Leather jacket, regular jeans, lid, gloves, and some kinda boots. Of course each person's meaning is probably one of those too..but from my experience.the average rider wearing GEAR, is Lid, Jeans, Jacket, and Work boots or something to that affect. Now whether or not thats sufficient is what this debate is all about right? :)

Wearing the norm is full face composite helmet, leather jacket, leather gloves, over ankle boots, and regular jeans. Full gear is full face composite helmet, leather jacket, leather gloves, race leather pants, and race boots... I wear the norm and the full gear about 50/50. But I've been doing alot more intense riding this year and it gets more and more with every year...just o stop from getting bored!!

I've been known to wear as little as over-ankle boots, jeans and t-shirt, and lid, but I don't ride like a squid when I wear that little. I only wore that cruising around town. I know, an accident can happen anywhere and I should be better prepared. I have a Joe Rocket jacket that is mostly mesh with armor and I'll usually wear it if I'm cruising around town, but I know it won't help a lot if I go down. When I go for spirited rides on the twisties, I wear my full leathers, race boots, etc. Only thing that sucks about wearing pants for light cruising around town is that you can't take them off when you stop for a bite to eat. Maybe I'll check into the Icon jeans.

i think that most peeps who ride more than a few years will be better off investing in some good gear. I did learn my lesson about jeans. Was riding to a class, needed to take a U-ie, and at 10mph lowsided and got some nasty road rash on my knees the size of baseballs. The jeans weren't even good for that speed and they were not the washed out (aka weakened) type, either. Since then, I'm in leather pants for all but 10 mile rides. In racer gear (full leather, lid, gloves, boots) I feel a whole lot more invincible.

Several companies make perforated leather jackets. My Fieldsheer has perforated front leather, and mesh panels by the biceps that let in lots of air. It's a great spring and fall jacket. I use a full mesh First Gear jacket in the summer.

As long as your not in stop and go riding conditions, even if its 110+ leathers are not hot at all, long as u stay moving, it can be 117 deg and the freeway in leathers feels just fine, might sweat a lil but nothign some Axe cant overcome... and even make u still smell good too (though not avised for females)

Actually I haven't used my FirstGear Blade leather jacket in that hot of weather, but it has large front, back and bicep vents that are very helpful. But I also have a mesh jacket with leather arms and shoulders and full padding for the really hot ones. But still wear the leather when I'm really riding tough and not just commuting.
