TATER 01-02-2008, 10:05 AM AP) Texas, where strip clubs have given rise to Anna Nicole Smith and many other less-generously endowed performers, is about to make it more expensive to watch a little bump and grind.
In what some have dubbed the "pole tax," the Lone Star State will require its 150 or so strip clubs to collect a $5-per-customer levy, with most of the proceeds going to help rape victims. The tax goes into effect on New Year's Day.....

Makes no sense to me... It's like taxing people to go to church and donating the money to a sexual abuse fund for young boys. Why not tax legislators for entering the state house and donate the procedes to colon research since they are constantly sticking it up our a$$ with their bull***** taxes...
This is like saying people get raped due to strip clubs.... where is the logic here...
neebelung 01-02-2008, 10:08 AM Makes NO sense to me at all.... there's got to be a better way to raise those funds.
Seems more like a backhanded way to do away with the adult entertainment industry than anything else, using the rape victim fund as a front.

:iagree: :withstupi I don't see the correlation. Now a tax to donate money for boob jobs..... I'd be all in favor of that tax.
upshift 01-02-2008, 10:23 AM Theyre just looking for ways to make more $$. I really doubt that strip clubs was the first thing that came to mind when they made the decision tho. :idk:
Amblyopic 01-02-2008, 10:24 AM Change to Fair/Unfair... agree/disagree doesn't work. wtf are we agreeing to, that is' fair or unfair?

agree with/disagree with the tax
Scissors 01-02-2008, 11:33 AM I'm assuming that "I disagree" means "I disagree that the tax is fair."

I'm sure I read an article somewhere saying that strip clubs and pron flicks helped decrease rapes...
R1HOOLIGAN 01-02-2008, 01:34 PM I don't trust the "logic" behind any new tax or fee. They pick a "just cause" to make it palatable, but let's see just how much of the money actually goes directly to help rape victims...methinks not much. Just like when the lottery was voted in in Florida. The lottery money was to"enhance the education budget".....good idea in my opinion. What actually happened was that it didn't "supplement" the education budget, it "replaced" it...So, the overall budget for schools didn't increase at all. They spoke with forked tongue..
vabarber2 01-02-2008, 02:17 PM Woops!! I voted agree because I agree with tater!!
