Who all on here owns a snake and what kind? I have been looking recently and have decided that i really want to buy a gray banded kingsnake. My parents are completely opposed to the idea, but I will get it while I am at college. They were also opposed to me getting a bike but that happened too.

Snakes can be a pain in the azz and they're never totally tame. The key is to handle it frequently and NEVER stick your hand in the tank with the smell of any food on it.....unless you want to get bitten of course. Lava rocks or heat lamps are required for them or they'll catch Pneumonia and die. If you use wood shavings for their tank, they can choke to death on them when swallowing the mouse/rat. The list goes on & on. Are U sure you're ready ?http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o154/Warputer/groan.gif

I had a snake... They aren't really that bad... Unless they are eating, however, they are really boring pets... As far as bedding goes, I always used Astroturf... You can get it cheap at Lowes... it's easy to clean and works great...

i have a cali king and the thing is damn near fool proof, just feed, keep warm and clean the cage, no need for heat lights since its nocturnal, just a nice cage and heating pad :dthumb:

Thats awesome. The ball python looks huge. My pledge father told me he's got a 25 gallon aquarium I could use, i would just have to mod the top so it couldn't get out. Where do you guys buy mice at and how much are they? Another question, do most people buy snakes when they are fully grown, as hatchlings, or in between.
