I haven’t been on in a while, so let me start by saying “HI” to everyone and welcome to the best forum in the world. Quick update, I’ve sold my 2003 gsxr750 and picked up a 07 R1.
We’ve had a bad weekend with rain, so I decided to ride my bike into work. I gear up, and get on the freeway, pretty uneventful even though traffic sucks. All the bikers I pass wave and I wave back. Nice day so far. Traffic is screwed the closer I get to my exit so now I got make my way across 5 lanes and hope I don’t miss it . The exit I take starts with two lanes and splits into three: Left, Left/Right, Right. I pull up, there’s a van in the Left turn, I’m in the middle cause after my left turn I have to make a right, and the right lane is empty. I assume the van doesn’t see me so I pull past his fender and back up a little. We’re sitting there waiting for the light and I noticed he’s pulled past the line. Didn’t think too much of it. Cross traffic light turns yellow, I put my bike in gear, and my light turns green. I start rolling forward and notice the van getting closer, and closer. The f***er IS making a right turn. My left thumb starts pressing buttons trying to hit the horn. The lady behind me starts freaking out and is on her horn, but the f***er is still going. :cursin:The clutch is completely in, brakes are being pressed, and I had to turn my wheel right…and we all know what happens next. My baby is on her side. Luckily, I was stopped and was able to lay her down instead of dropping her and I still had my hand squeezing the clutch. I’m standing there in the intersection, looking at my bike and shaking my head. I look at the lady behind me and her face was of amazement that I didn’t get hit. She got out of the car and I was, damn she’s not going to be able to help me lift the bike (handicap placard in the window). I walk around pulled the kickstand down, walked back around and started to position myself to lift the bike. Was going to use the technique I read on the forum. (I think it was posted by OTB. Back to bike, bend and lift. Done it before on my 750 and it worked.) Another rider was at the exit when I started to lift, and he came over to help. Thanks. My light is now red, the cars are waiting for me, and I hop on, hit the starter, and it doesn’t start. Check the kickstand, its up mad sure the power button is in the right position, it is and try again. NOTHING! Tried the key, off and back on. It starts. I now have to make the right turn cause traffic is moving and I can’t sit in the intersection and wait for a green. I get in the turn lane to make a U turn and I see the ass sitting a few cars in front of me. Kickstand down, engine cutoff on and proceed to walk to the van. I noticed the cars I passed people were locking their doors. Funny. I get to his door and proceed to tear him a new one.:cursin: The only thing he had to say was “What did I do?” WTF what did you do?! You f***ing made a right turn from the left turn lane and almost hit me you dumb piece of s***! Again he says “What did I do?” OMG this guy is a dumb f***ing idiot and cant even apologize. :cursin: What the f is wrong with people? Why can’t they take responsibility for what they did? He rolls up his window and I walk away. If someone walked up to my car and was yelling and screaming and I really didn’t do anything, we’re fighting in the middle of the street. But this wasn’t worth going to jail for, I seemed to be okay, bike started and no major damage. Thank god for frame sliders:dthumb:. But now I’m sitting here with a sore back from easing the bike down instead of just dropping it. Got to work, parked and the only damage is a tiny scratch on the clutch cover and sore lower back muscles. Adrenaline is amazing, no pain until its gone.
Sorry for the long post, just had to let it out. Thanks.
Question: Does the bike turn off automatically when it’s on its side? When she was going down, I had the clutch in, but a few seconds on her side, the engine stopped.
