Found a couple of used Blasts and would like some advice. One is an '01 with 1,850 miles. Has been dropped but he says the only damage was some scratches to the wind screen ferring... (is that possible?). New battery, new spark plug, new Perelli tires. He says he will get it serviced before the sale. http://images.craigslist.org/010105010312011604200802103af0663c7a75152db200cdd2.jpg The other is an '02 with 3,050 miles. Guy says it is in great shape... but has never been serviced. Does anyone know how this will affect the bike? He has put on a new Jardine exhaust and low straight handle bars. He said the bike had been sitting for a while so he had to put a new battery in. I'm kinda assuming as it hasn't been serviced, that he doesn't know what he is doing. But anser your question about those two bikes, i'd steer clear of any bike which hasn't ben serviced, though since you didnt post the prices of said bikes, thats all there realy is to go off of! Oh and dont worry about the fact that the other one has ben down, its your first bike so it probly wont be the last time! Just be sure that theres no major damage! Good Luck And GEAR UP!!!!!

Buy the Blast that's made by Buell... it's far superior... I've seen one outrun a Busa.

You should be able to pick up either of those rigs for like $1500.

Sorry I didn't reply sooner - I was haiving posting issues with the account. I'm really only interested in the Blast - hence the post here. Can anyone give me any advice in where to look for a good deal (don't want to buy new) and what good pricing is for these bikes? I was told to go after a 2003 or later as they have less problems. Opinions? vabarber2 - both bikes are around $2,300 - I was told this was too high for these bikes.

Craigslist, Cycle Trader, Ebay... etc....

go for the bike with the higher miles and no service. It has a after market sound and has'nt been dumped...2 nd service is at 5000 miles, most guys do the 1st service themselfs. you might be able to talk down the price with cash...:dthumb::flush:

I'm trying to look for an '03 and newer now, just because of the potential issues I've heard about. I'm still looking, but you guys have helped me figure out what I need to look for :) Thanks!

I own an 04 and haven't had any problems with it but I've heard that the older ones are hit and miss. You should be able to find an 04 for around 2.5k. If you're patient you can probably get one lower than that. And don't listen to them, a Blast is a perfectly fun little bike for learning.
