World-renowned tuner and hot rod king Boyd Coddington died at 6:20 am this morning. The cause of death is still unknown. Coddington, founder of Boyds Wheels and designer of prize-winning custom cars, had recently been hospitalized twice for an undisclosed medical condition. Although he was though to be in recovery, rumors of his untimely death began circulating today throughout the forums. A spokesperson for Boyd Coddington's corporation has confirmed to Jalopnik that those rumors are true. The company will be releasing a statement later today.

Hey I wear Hawaiin shirts... I cant cast judgement on him because I never knew him. Granted in his show he came off as a bit of an a-hole but you got to understand he is running a business and sometimes you have to be firm and sometimes a D*ck. But another thing is its TV and anyone can come off in a negative fashion it all depends on how the footage is edited.
but none the less the guy was extremely tallented and definately a visionary in the hot rod community.
6doublefive321 02-27-2008, 03:08 PM This just in. The cause of death was determined to be Dewayne's head stuck up Boyd's arsehole.
Captain Morgan 02-27-2008, 03:10 PM There's a time and a place for Hawaiian shirts, and it's not every day. I wear them in the summer, when I'm chilling by the pool or going out to the lake. Other than that, they stay in the closet.
Oh, and RIP

That is a very incorrect closed minded statement. You know what I have noticed... On other forums that I participate in you have 2 types of people. The gear heads (that are into anything with a motor cars, trucks, bikes, etc.) and the other people. The gearheads love him and respect him for everything that he has accomplished and changed in the hot rod industry. It is really sad that ignorant people can only base an oppinion on him based on a TV show that really wasnt all that well produced.
here is some of his customs

I could go on and on but whats the point I wont change the haters oppinions.
Just think of the people he influenced Chip Foose, Jesse James, etc.
somebody's appraisals just went way up.

He had a few good designs, but a lot of tasteless ones in my opinion. Regarding someone's opinions as to what type of person he was, everyone is entitled to his or her own. My opinion of the guy, from watching the show, is that he was an egocentric azzhat. Is that assessment correct? I don't know, but that is how he looked on tv to me. When you agree to go on tv and have someone follow you around with a camera, that is the risk that you take.
A prick is a prick, dead or alive. Am I glad this guy is dead? Of course not. Do I still think he was a prick? Certainly. Do I feel bad for his family? Yes. Those are not contradictory statements.
