I didn't watch the whole thing.. was the guy on the bike dead? And was someone in the car dead?

The person in the passinger seat of the car was not dead just banged up pretty good. I had to watch the video twice to see if the rider was dead or not. I think I saw him blinking his eyes. But that was all the movement he was doing. Arms and legs never even twitched. :nonod: He was doing some serious speeding to cause his tire to smash the h311 out of that car and to leave the front tire stuck in it as well. The person taping it should be slaped for doing a poor job. :bslap:

I didn't watch the whole thing.. was the guy on the bike dead? And was someone in the car dead? I never could tell if the rider was dead or not. The person in the passenger seat appeared to be trapped and unable to exit the vehicle. It looked like her legs were pinned in by the dash.

Actually, although the bike and car are pretty badly messed up, I don't believe the rider was going as fast as suggested earlier. Have a look at where the rider ended up, where his bike ended up and where the car is. There couldn't be more than 30-40 feet between them. If he was travelling stupid fast, I'd suggest that he'd be thrown a lot farther than he was. Don't ya think?

If he was travelling stupid fast, I'd suggest that he'd be thrown a lot farther than he was. Don't ya think? Although I have not seen this video, as the link is dead now, the placement of the bike and rider really cannot be used to show the true speed the biker was going at impact. At least without truely taking into consideration the required force, angle, ect, to do that amount of damage to that car. There are so many things that you have to consider it would be difficult to guess. I worked for Ensley County Fire Rescue for a while and saw one bad bike wreck. It kindof made me question my commitment to riding, seeing the accident scene moments after it happened. What happend in the one that I responded to was that a car had pulled out in front of a bike, classic T-Bone. The bike nailed the rear tire of the car and actually spun the entire car over 180 degrees. The car had a broken rear axel, i believe. I wasn't paying too much attention to the car damage as the rider was right there. It took me a few minutes to put together what had happened. Apparently this guy had just gotten the bike, first bike, less than 4 months before this accident. I didn't pay too much attention to the bike either but I believe it was above a 600cc sport bike, yamaha. This guy actually ended up within ten feet of the car, with his tenis shoes about 20 feet away from the car. he was wearing a helmet but no jacket or body protection, it looked like he was on his way back from the beach with board shorts on. His knees were skinned to the bone, not even any blood, just pure bone. The paramedics were working on him, and there was quite a bit of bubbles, as I'll call them, coming out of his mouth. The bike was actually about thirty yards down the rode and didn't have 'too' much damage. As I checked it and turned the gas off. I never actually found out if the guy lived or not. But the paramedics said that the impact probably shattered every rib he had and punctured his lungs, ie thats why he was breathing bubbles. I would take a gander and say that when he hit the car, the bike immediately went over and basically he was compressed between the car and his bike. I didn't see the accident so I don't know what could have been done to avoid it, but from what I did see is that this guy was on a new bike and he was just doing a little beyond his abilities as well as not paying full attention. I would be interested in getting the FHP report from it. My point here is that you cannot get a true perspective of speed from the placement of the bike or rider. As the rider was within a few feet of the car, he did not clear the rear end of it. It all depends on the force absorbed by the object (car) and how much that reduces the bikes speed for further travel. And surprisingly a bike can do a lot of damage at speed. You're still riding a 500 pound machine that is traveling at 70 miles an hour. I don't even want to think of the force in that. I'm sure that video showed the amazing damage, but as I have not seen it yet I cannot comment directly. Just thought you guys might find that interesting, - Ben

If it is the same video that I have seen before - the one with the two cars and the bike in the intersection and the bike rider lying on the corner. They are all speaking like a Russian type of language??? It looked to me - the rider was dead. He was blue in the face and no movement. The lady in the car died I believe I heard. I am a firefighter/paramedic here in Ohio. I have been on plenty of motorcycle accidents, luckily nothing very bad - yet........ All I can say is use smarts when riding and wear your frickin gear!!! I have only been riding for about a year and it scares me every time I go out riding. I guess like they say, the time you arent afraid of your bike - is when you will get in trouble. - yeah the bubbles they blow are usually pinkish in color because it is the air breathed out mixed with blood from the lungs. :yikes:
