So i've never had my bike go this far on a tank. I took a trip home to see my parents on easter. I went 196.7 miles and filled up 3.408 gallons. I have always gotten about 45-50, using 87 octane. This time i filled up with 89 and somehow got 57.xx that is crazy. huge difference in mileage. I'm going to give it another shot on 89 and see if this continues to happen. otherwise safeway has magic gas!!!

I think yours is close to the same.

i have a 4.5 gallon tank, but that doesnt really matter. i went 196 miles and only put back in 3.4, i started with a full tank as well.

mileage can vary really wide. I can get mid 40s or i can get low 20's.... my first tank doing a break in i got 54 on my 1000 with bad aerodynamics...4.6 gallon tank woulda got me over 200 miles.. Normal now is bout 95-100 miles with 3.5-4 gallons in or so. But i dont baby it much anymore, plus its probalby just ready for honing and new rings with 24K miles on it. If i baby her now i get aobut 160 a tank. Try it agian and see, it doesnt seem unrealisitic though, my old EX500 stock got aobut 62mpg when id take a all highway trip to Cali... modded it was down to about 50.

You must ring its phuqing neck then  Mine has almost 49k on it and all it needs it a oil change. ThirdGenlxi has 120k on his F4i and still going strong.

i burn minimal oil and still feels like full power.. but i gotta fix a bent shift fork, id be dumb to teaer it down and not re ring it...fact is high comprssion engines will lose it faster then a cars will.. it will run fine for well over 50K with ease...but to keep every horse it should get new rings on occasion. Its not even had a valve adjust yet but will be done while its apart too. not sure what it is aobut the Z1K but heasrd a lot of ppl say to keep good mileage you gotta run the piss out of it often or mileage drops.. probalby the sloppy stock heads with a crappy casting job thats pitted. allowing carbon buyild up you gotta keep clean with the engine laboring it out. I have no doubt ok kawis motors though, i just want every horsepower to stay bewing made... the bikes with 40K plus on em are not making all the horsepower anymore.

I'd about bet my F4 is making more power than it was in 00

Why aren't you using 91+ maybe his bike doesnt call for it?? Which it should, my 00 F4 calls for 91 and get s 93 (thats what it is here).

ive always used 91 on my k7 600, just for the heck of it even though it calls for 87. now that gas is almost at $4/gal, i put 89 in it for the first time. im not expecting a decrease in performance, but looking out for any change in gas milage. if none i'll eventually downgrade to 87 octane.

I always use +91 specially with compressed engines. Although if you dont push it, the engine might be ok with 87...
