Lawmakers don't like pocket bikes

I read in USA Today that many cities are banning pocket bikes due to safety concerns. The market flood of cheap bikes has begun and we're only going to see more of them. They're not "street legal" but all you need is some private property (parking lot) and a MC endorsement on your license and you're in for a good time.

Those things are everywhere..you can buy them at nearly any major hardware chain or auto shop, like Pep Boys....yeah, they are everywhere all right, I was waiting for the lawmakers to start putting their foot down at some point, was bound to happen...can't have too much now, can we? :mad: :bonk: Personally I tried riding one, and good grief..was the most uncomfortable ride of my life..LOL..but it was pretty fun, and we all got a good laugh at watching each other try and get on/off these bikes too :smilelol:

I've personally never been on one, but at 6'3" I can't imagine that it be too comfortable.

Think these rides are something of a phase, that'll pass at some point, or are they here to stay for a long time??? I think it's alittle to early to tell how long this craze will last, but it seems to taking off will a bang..but then again, so did New Kids on the Block...so we'll see :ack:

I have never been on one of these either. I like em tho. Pretty interesting toy. Wish they had things like this when i was younger. I dont mind the people riding them, but they need to stay clear of the main roads. Where I live, they ride in packs down the street. I have seen them drag racing them down a one-way street and the people who i find riding them appear all ages. If they keep them at least on the sidewalk, i have no problem with them. :bike:

I agree, Aaron. As an enthuisiast, I'm not against them in general. But like the squids that jet their liter bikes in and out of traffic as if they were invinsible, I don't agree with someone riding a pocketbike on a street.

I have one and do a little parking lot racing. They are a BLAST! I have the simple half fairing CAG and it does about 29-30mph. Not bad for $230! A buddy has a Italian bike and it does about 45-50 with a 200lbs guy on it....DESENT!!

They're not "street legal" but all you need is some private property (parking lot) and a MC endorsement on your license and you're in for a good time. technically if you are riding on private property (such as parking lot racing) you do NOT need a MC endorsement - where we run practice laps, there are kids under 16 out there and there is NO WAY they have any sort of license! :seeya:
