Hippo Hands

Does anybody else ride with Hippo Hands? I've been using them every winter for at least 20 years. I stopped at a library on Thursday and some guy said he hadn't seen them in years. They are covers that slip over your handlebars, and your hand slips inside. Here's a picture of what they look likehttp://www.hippohands.com/Hippo%20Hands.htm. Mine are so old they have the cutouts for the mirror stalks on the handlebar. I've used them on my old Suzuki and my Honda. Hands are warm as toast and I wear my summer gloves. I don't know if other riders are jealous, or think I'm a dork.

I use to have some of those. I don't know what ever happened to them. Just got lost in the summer years ago and I never replaced them.

I have some I bought 25 years ago, they aren't triangular like the hippos, they look like the gloves you see on TV labs where they reach into the "box" to handle chemicals or radioactive. they come about 1/2 up your forearm and they mount to the bars like the Hippos, but look more like tubes

They look like they do what they are to do but look way to ugly for me to use. LOL

How much from where? :tt: :tt: don't forget the update. I got these: http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B0000W58ZU.01-A1V1Z4BJNVFJUK._AA280_SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg Ya they are ugly but I can live with it if my fingers don't freeze.:yikes: They were $21 shipped, and the place has 100% satisfaction guarentee so I can return them (that was surprisingly hard to find). Ordered from Amazon http://www.amazon.com/ATV-Snowmobile-Handlebar-Mitts-Black/dp/B0000W58ZU/ref=sr_11_1/104-6866363-6709536?ie=UTF8

I'm sorry, but those look obscene!! I'm picturing someone tryin' to keep other appendages warm! :yikes: Don't laugh, while looking for those, I saw a pic of a guy that had made a plastic wind apron with fleece on the bottom side to cover up his twigs and berries:yikes: It mounted around the tank and covered his legs like loose chaps almost, now THAT was obscene.:bonk:

and I ride to work until it gets down to about 30 so, I'll take obscene. Ok, let me correct that, in the fall when it's 30 at 5:30am but 50's on the way home not high of 30 for the day

Not available for a VTR :( I do well enough with my leather A*'s anyway. On extra cold days I put on a pair of under gloves that came free with a T.W.O. magazine a couple years back. Never needed more than the both of those. Its never the hands that get cold, its usually the neck or arms. Once leather gets cold it seems to be even worse than not wearing it!

well they were delivered on saturday and my first impression was that they are pretty well made. Fit very well with plenty of room use of the controls. The sleeve opening is a smidge snugg but help keeps the heat in. And there is no problem with pulling my hands out in a hurry if need be. also they are soft sided so if in case I needed to grab the controls in an emergency with my hands out. Mornings are suppose to be in the low 50's which will be nice for a first impression. I'm anxious to try them in some cooler weather. Took 'em for a quick spin and seem like they are gonna be extremely cozy.

Congrats on getting the Hippo's. I'd rather ride in dry cold, than in warm rain. I haven't put mine on yet. It was in the 50's this weekend, but the ski areas got over three feet of snow the last few days. Winter's coming.

wel it was 50 when I got to work this morning after 30 min of straight highway all I gots to say is, "Holy Hotness Batman":yikes: I was wearing my light summer gloves and even with the heated grips on low my hands were hot!!! I have no worries about these keeping my hands warm well into any cold temps I'm actually riding in. I had no problem with not being able to see my controls, I've read some peoploe take a bit to get used to. Hand slides in much easy when moving and you have a little wind resistance pushing back. They have a velcro strap closer so I can slide them off and throw them in the Weber..I mean trunk...while I'm at work.
