officermartinez 08-01-2004, 11:59 PM I took my bike to the track today (at Kennedale Raceway in Kennedale, Texas).. It was VERY hot at the track. Im sure the track temperature was around 105-110 degrees.. Here is a copy of one of my timeslips from Kennedale tonight. I'm by NO MEANS a drag racer but not bad considering that I have only made about 9 passes on the track with my bike.. The bike is set up at stock height with regular tires, etc.. NOT BAD FOR A NOOB! I can get better but it just takes time.. (I am Car # " I " )
ShanMan14 08-02-2004, 07:53 AM Looking good for a newbie! :bike:
Need4Speed 08-02-2004, 10:52 AM how often do you get to go to this track and ride? sounds like a blast!!
officermartinez 08-02-2004, 11:49 AM I have only made about 9 passes down the drag strip. I have been twice. Both occassions were on a sunday evening. I usually get there around 6p and the track closes at 9p.
TL1000 08-02-2004, 08:13 PM sweet dood! i wuz gonna take my TL down to drag night but its so #@$#ing hot right now to wait in the lines
jdagsxr 08-02-2004, 10:32 PM not bad.....i take it it's only an 1/8 mile track???? u can almost figure 1/2 of your 1/8 mile time and add it to it and that about what your 1/4 would be.
officermartinez 08-03-2004, 05:27 AM yeah.. an 1/8th mile track. I sure would like to know for sure, what I can do on a 1/4 mile track. Did I hear Ennis (Texas Motorplex) Raceway calling? ..lol.
donutdanny 08-03-2004, 10:38 PM That's pretty cool. I'm not a big 1/4 mile racer but I've been once with a buddy running the Texas Shootout and went with him to practice out at Houston Raceway in Baytown. They have Friday night street racing and this was the first time down a 1/4 mile track on my stock 2000 R1 (I have a tricked out 02 now). The large slip was my first run the half slip is my fourth run. I'd like to go back now and try it one more time on the newer bike with the mods. I think I could pull off a 10.2-10.3 knowing what I know now, because this night I didn't know *****.
officermartinez 08-04-2004, 01:22 PM Very cool! That's a pretty good time slip there.. I think my Vortex Rear Sprocket is due to arrive on Friday. Not sure what increase in my times will be, but it will be geared a little better for acceleration. The stock gearing is 42 rear teeth and the Vortex is 44.. I will loose a little on the top end (its not like I would be doing 190 MPH anyways). I am willing to make that trade off..
officermartinez 08-09-2004, 12:36 AM I ran out at the track again today. I still need help on my launches but was able to get a 1.9 60 foot time and clocked in at 7.1 @ 107 MPH. I KNOW i can get in the 6's but i am still learning.
ShanMan14 08-09-2004, 08:20 AM Who cares how fast you were, that pic is bitchin'!
Need4Speed 08-09-2004, 10:39 AM Hell yeah dude ! :bike: Put that up in the gallery for future reference!!!
GSXR1000DJ 08-09-2004, 11:58 AM I'm going to have to agree with everyone else. Pic does look good. Let us know when you do get into the 6's. :)
officermartinez 08-12-2004, 10:35 AM Thanks everyone for the compliments.. I will be out at the track this Sunday (again)..lol. I just bought a Votex rear sprocket. The stock teeth was 42, so I decided to go up (2) in the rear which will put me at 44 teeth.. Hopefully that will do the trick!
Aaron 08-13-2004, 09:33 PM :coolsun: that bike is freaking bright! im blind! :coolsun:
officermartinez 08-17-2004, 01:17 AM Well after mounting my new Vortex rear sprocket, I can honestly say, "OMG"! It feels MUCH stronger under hard acceleration! I have lost a little top end but thats OK.. It's not like I hit 190 MPH everyday anyways! The only problem I am having is keeping the front end down in first AND second gear.. Everything after 3rd gear is fine.. I am at a cross road in my bikes use. Do I slam it and stretch out the rear swing arm only to achieve a 6.1 or 6.2 time slip or just keep it the way it is, and tear up the twisties! Well, as BAD as I want the bike to be on the drag strip, it is NOT practical for me to dump $700 - $800 dollars into the bike for only .8 or .9 second faster. I would rather use that money to buy EXTRA body work or maybe a little engine work. Besides, I rode 400 miles yesterday, hitting the local twisties with a group of about 40 other riders! That feeling is just about priceless..
2WheelTuner 08-17-2004, 05:35 PM Awesome! :)
Need4Speed 08-17-2004, 05:52 PM Sweet!! yeah, I mean unless your going to drag full time, why dump the funds into it, and make your bike more one-dimensional. I'd say keep it the way it is..she's a beautiful beast for sure
tell you what..head down here to PA..i'll race ya, If I win, I get your bike..If I lose, I get your bike...how bout that?
officermartinez 08-18-2004, 04:19 AM I love those odds... I might just have to take my bike up to Pennsylvania and see how fast I can lose ownership...lmao!
valpoboyzkenny 09-11-2004, 07:43 AM Put a strap on the front end. Their like $20 from schnitz racing and it'll help keep the front end down on the launch and help get those 60 ft times down.
Need4Speed 09-11-2004, 09:51 AM I love those odds... I might just have to take my bike up to Pennsylvania and see how fast I can lose ownership...lmao!
look us up when you get here...we'll give u a lift home..
