bulldog 02-16-2005, 06:43 PM i MIGHT ride the bike to school.......i dont think i will except for the days my mom cant pick me up!!!.........but if i do do i lock the helmut to my bike?????
and when you go in store and stuff do you carry it or lock it up????
just wondering dont whant to look stupid
I never leave my lid or my carry-ons... on my bike...unless it's in clear site all the time... and I'm only going to be there for a few minutes... To easy for stuff to get Jacked even with the D link on most bikes... Just don't do it...:nonod: You can get one of those Icon Bags that will strap you helmet to it or something cheaper that you can just carry it along with you...

bulldog 02-16-2005, 06:53 PM yeah but the helmut wont fit in the locker i have and i dont whant to be carrying it to class and seem like a stuck up
twisty 02-16-2005, 06:54 PM I bring mine with me, when it cost 700 bucks you bring it with you.
yeah but the helmut wont fit in the locker i have and i dont whant to be carrying it to class and seem like a stuck up
D@mn everyone else... they won't replace it if it gets jacked... do you have a spare 200 to waste on something you already paid for.... :flush:
bulldog 02-16-2005, 07:10 PM well i guess i can shove the helmut in a backpack and then leave it in my last period class under the counter and have teacher watch it ???? idk but i have to ride it about twice a month or i got to walk home and i cant see myself walking home when i got a BIKE in the garodge
thirdgenlxi 02-16-2005, 07:17 PM I take my helmet with me at work and school where I'll be away from the bike for several hours at a time. If I just go into the store for a few minutes or something I'll leave it strapped on the bike under the seat. Don't worry about what anyone else thinks though... they're not the ones that will be paying for a new one if it gets jacked. Sounds like a good idea though if you can put it in a backpack and leave it in one class, or even carry it with you in the bag.

GSXR1000DJ 02-16-2005, 07:34 PM also i dont know if i feel safe leaving it in the student parking lot??? what do you guys think??
For you...take it with you. No telling what ppl will want to do to yours to mess with you. LOL Just kiding. I always take mine with me every where.
Get a lock for it... and secure it somewhere.. most schools should have a bike parking area... so look for it... Just remember it only takes two strong cats to carry off a 500 LB bike... try to do everything possible that will make it more diffcult for them to do that... :2cents:
bulldog 02-16-2005, 07:35 PM oh sorry i dident clarify i meent my bike!! would it be safe in the student parking lot

talk to administration and see if there is somewhere that they would let you park it where it would be out in the open so that there would be less of a chance of people messing with it. that's the downside of having nice things, there's always some jealous pricks that have to steal/vandalize it. that's why i quit driving my car to school, i was tired of having it keyed and have food and crap thrown on it. it seems like you just can't have nice things...
:hang:thieves and vandals:hang:

Walk... j/k As far as I know there is nothing that you can do, to prevent it from getting knocked over... You have the side stand... and some bikes have a Center stand... other then that... your guess is as good as mine... But if somebody does... Just K-T-A... :bash:and that will spread no to mess with your SH__ !
Edit: Get some Frame sliders ASAP... to reduce the fall damage
Gas Man 02-16-2005, 07:51 PM 50% of the time I take it and 50% I lock it on the bike!!!
bulldog 02-16-2005, 07:51 PM there is a cheveron out in front of the school can i park it there???????????
Only if the Owners allow it... Cuz they can have you towed off... :skep:
bulldog 02-16-2005, 07:55 PM should i ask him or what :sorry:
I never hurts to ask... and if your in there all the time buying stuff.. they may just let you... It's about the money to a business.. and ask the school about parking...
Captain Morgan 02-17-2005, 12:30 AM As for the helmet, that's totally up to you. Even if you lock it to the helmet lock on the bike, someone could just cut the helmet strap and buy a new one. As for the bike, is your school parking lot gated and have a guard? If so, then just park it next to the guard shack. Nobody will screw with it there. I would NOT park my bike at a gas station, FAR more people coming and going than at the school parking lot. One suggestion would be to get an alarm that sounds if the bike is tipped, touched, etc., but the alarm would have to have a pager function. If the pager goes off, you can hopefully get to the parking lot fast enough to see who is fleeing the scene. ;) My high school had a gate and a guard shack, but I didn't have a bike back then, let alone a car to park in the lot.
bulldog 02-17-2005, 12:45 AM well we have a guard but he only is there at lunch!!! and between classes the gates are open for kids to acsess their cars!!! so it is always going to be vulnerable!!! i am just going to take a chance and park it in a plain site place but only on the days i HAVE to  then i will get a ride from my mom home ....and take the bike out for a ride  i have a couple good rodes around here that look like fun and have very little if any trafic to learn on!!!
Gas Man 02-17-2005, 01:46 PM I've heard a great ALARM style thing to get is one of those baggage or laptop bag alarms.... its is usually a cable with some type of a combination lock and a tamper alarm!! Could run that right thru the full face opening and it would definately deter (sp?)!!!
No Worries 02-17-2005, 10:04 PM As for my $300 helmet, I always take it with me. When I go into a store with leather jacket and pants, I want them to know I'm riding a motorcycle, not part of the Village People.
A heavy chain through the back wheel and on to the seat looks strong and makes it harder to use a bolt cutter and the ground for leverage. If you use the chain, you could stick it through the chin guard. The D-ring and stock helmet lock on the bike are rather weak.
As for parking the bike at school, why not ask a teacher or janitor for a good spot?
I don't care what you do, as long as you go to school.
This has got to be the worst written thread I have ever had the misfortune of reading.
