Im a new rider and paying cash for my bike. What kind of insurance should i put on it. Im 20 so putting coverage on the bike is expensive. do you think full coverage is nessesary. I talked to some of my friends and they said they only have min coverage.

If you can afford full coverage, do it. :dthumb:

i think it is nessesary but then again i am also 20 and dont have full coverage with a new bike and making payments, though kawasaki so i dont need full coverage. but i do have liablility and comprehensive. if you drop it a side fairing is usually 400-500. but my rates for full coverage so far are just ridiculose.
Where are you from

insurance is like gambling...you could not have full coverage and not need it and youll save that money...or you could not have it and total your bike and pay a lot more than what the insurance would have cost...its up to you really...its a gamble...

Yep, one of those things that you pay for, but hope you NEVER need.

im just hoping its always the other persons fault.
if not full i sugest you at least get collision and theft coverage with a fairly low deductible. it won't be as expensive as full but it has the two things you need most. it's all about the low deductible though. if you spill you won't have to wait forever to get your ish repaired. my deduct is 300. shop around too.

if you have collision then you have liability and comprehensive which covers theft. collision is what costs you the most.

For me, i just have liability, fire and theft. If i total my bike, i would rather take the loss that to have my premiums go up for the next 5 years. Its actually cheaper in some situations to take the loss instead of making a claim and paying higher premiums for the next 5 years. Trust me i know. Mine just went down in january from a claim i had when i was 17.
It's a long story as to what was behind the claim, but over the past 5 years it has cost me roughly $5000 for the initial $1200 claim. which i coulda fixed myself for about $500. Money wasted, lesson learned
I don't know how insurance works down there but thats just something to think about
it's been about 4 months since my claim and my premium hasn't gone up, maybe it will when i renew it or something. i'm gonna call em right now.

yeah thats what i thought. and liability. i thought it went if you have comprehensive then you have to have liability, if you ahve collision then you have to have both of the others.

Liability here you can add comp or get it automatically with collision.
