Get a Scotts!!! Linky! (http://www.scottsperformance.com/index.php) GSXR1000DJ 03-02-2005, 08:34 PM Scotts is the best for its price. It may be a bit highter then some of the others that are out there, but you are buying a great product that will last. :dthumb: DLIT 03-02-2005, 08:42 PM thanks for the link. i'm thinkin it's a little too high for my budget right now but when i get one it will be a scotts. zx636r 03-02-2005, 09:22 PM i was gonna get a scotts but i think im gonna go with a hyperpro or ohlins, shaft style. just a personal preference i think they look nicer and there harder to steal. i also heard of dead spots in the scotts style. and ohlins makes a rotary style damper but they dont advertise it for sportbikes, makes me think a little. just my .02 cents Gas Man 03-03-2005, 05:49 AM Oops...you're way off... Ohlins rotart style is made by Scotts!!! And dead spots???? I don't think so.... but enjoy your shaft especially when it get's all mangled in a simple low side.... :2cents: twisty 03-03-2005, 05:59 AM Dead spots....They are caused by the consumer not checking the oil level in the dampener after the break in period. The fluid lever drops and causes the dampner too have dead spots. The fault of this is the consumers for not reading the damn instructions. Also Ohins makes the scotts dampener. I think the green is clouding you brain. Gas Man 03-03-2005, 06:13 AM I think we debated this A LONG TIME ago... I think its the other way around!!
O, and don't get me wrong the Ohins stuff is GREAT stuff. Heck in a few more weeks, I'll even have Ohins oil in my front forks!! twisty 03-03-2005, 06:22 AM I think we debated this A LONG TIME ago... I think its the other way around!!

agree, no cons at all, it should be the first thing you get for your bike if it doesnt have one..... twisty 03-03-2005, 07:03 AM agree, no cons at all, it should be the first thing you get for your bike if it doesnt have one.....
:iagree: Gas Man 03-03-2005, 07:55 AM I believe we went thru this a long time ago here... other way around being that Scotts makes the Ohins rotary..... but it don't matter.... Ohins stuff rocks... and so does the Scotts steering stabalizer... this shouldn't be in question! You even have one... twisty 03-03-2005, 07:57 AM I believe we went thru this a long time ago here... other way around being that Scotts makes the Ohins rotary..... but it don't matter.... Yeah I know because they ROCK! The deadspots are caused user error not the dampener. Gas Man 03-03-2005, 08:05 AM ^^^ Yeah what he said!!! ^^^

And yes, it's going to be a Scotts. Now, do I buy direct from Scotts or who has the best deals? seen it spelt both ways...damper and dampner... dont know which is correct... chev 03-03-2005, 08:28 AM seen it spelt both ways...damper and dampner... dont know which is correct...
damper is the correct way. I just wanted to give some people some crap for it. I'd say most people say it wrong. I had a prof in grad school, we were talking dampers, and this guy kept calling it a dampner, and the prof kept ragging on him...pretty funny. But, honestly, it's damper and if you don't believe me, look it up or visit Gasmans link above to the Scott's site. Just trying to keep my TWF brothers and sisters informed!!! Not trying to be a smarty pants!!!!!!! twisty 03-03-2005, 08:33 AM KneeDraggers of Rec. Spreeworks was little high. KneeDraggers is dispributer for scotts and woodcraft. I would check there first. SpeedWerks.com 03-03-2005, 12:38 PM As twisty said, we are definitely a little high on Scott's stuff. It's due to which distributor you use and what type of volume you do with each one. Unfortunately, our biggest volume isn't done with the Scott's people.
Chev, as I said in my PM, we'd be more than happy to help you, but you can probably find it cheaper somewhere else. :dthumb:

But you guys have an awsome deal on the race chains, very nice indeed. Gas Man 03-03-2005, 02:06 PM Anyway, get a Scotts Stabalizer....
You can try EBay but not usually much on there for the Scotts....otherwise kneedraggers is probably going to be your best bet! But it going to cost you 300-425 chev 03-03-2005, 02:27 PM Still working on it. Doing a little research and I'll get something figured out in the next day or so. Don't know how I went for so long without one, that's for sure.
Thanks Laura, got your note. Sent you one back too and I'll also be in touch about the damper. chev 03-03-2005, 02:53 PM How does GPR compare to Scotts? SpeedWerks.com 03-03-2005, 05:07 PM But you guys have an awsome deal on the race chains, very nice indeed.
The majority of our stuff we have great deals on, and you guys get an additional discount off our site prices for being a TWF member. There's just some "select" brands that we can't really give great deals on. Hopefully as we get bigger we'll acquire more dealer accounts, but for right now there just some stuff that we can't really do great prices on. :(
So when does the WERA series kick up for you? I know Mid-A starts next weekend! It's still friggin' winter!!!!!! twisty 03-03-2005, 05:14 PM The majority of our stuff we have great deals on, and you guys get an additional discount off our site prices for being a TWF member. Not till next month. twisty 03-03-2005, 05:15 PM How does GPR compare to Scotts?
Garbage!!! Gas Man 03-03-2005, 05:35 PM Garbage!!!
:withstupi chev 03-03-2005, 08:22 PM Just curious due to similar design and pricing. Thanks fella's. zx636r 03-03-2005, 09:49 PM i know scotts and ohlins are the same buy y does the best suspension company ohlins advertise there damper. o and how is a top mount shaft damper gonna get mangled in a lowside. and the only reason im getting the top mount shaft is casue i think it looks nicer. and yes i am getting one as soon as my tax return comes. it will be on my bike hopefully by the end of this month. and the dead spot is just something i heard alot, never used one. zx636r 03-03-2005, 09:49 PM btw i think i seen a ohlins top mount shaft for 460 online. and a scotts for 385. i will have to look it up and post Gas Man 03-04-2005, 05:42 AM Those prices sound about right! I personally love the way the scotts looks. See pic... not to mention, everybody asks about it and how it works...
As far as the low side thing... where does the end of your shaft style mount. If it is like most Kaw's you should have a threaded spot on your frame usually on the side of the bike. Therefore, making the shaft stick out the side of your bike....if the bike goes down on that side it will mess up that shaft sticking out... zx636r 03-04-2005, 01:51 PM no, they make a top mount shaft damper. it mounts in the same place a scotts damper does.only way its gonna get hurt is if you smashe you handle bars off. Gas Man 03-04-2005, 10:14 PM Well, that's good to know... at least Kaw fixed that flaw as well. But damn, that looks funny! And you said something about the Scotts looking ugly...that's kinda FUGLY!! jeeps84 03-04-2005, 10:32 PM Looks is in the eye of the beholder!
I like the looks of the shaft mount personally.
As for the Ohlions or Scotts, I don't really care. I have used both over the years and have been happy with them.
Now that junk they put on a GSXR from the factory is better than nothing and every bike capable of power wheelie straight or out of a corner should have one.
I wont get into the speed thing. zx636r 03-04-2005, 10:36 PM now i just have to make up my mind between hyperpro RSC and ohlins. sorta leaning towars RSC since at low speeds the damper is easier to turn over. unless there is a real great reson to get the ohlins, other then the fact that my jacket has an ohlins patch(neo-daytona hero, icon). lol not a big put ur sponser on urself but its a kick ass jacket. :puke: on that stuff!!! zx636r 03-04-2005, 10:45 PM yeah yeah. i like it and thats all that matters :skep: at least i dont look like an old geezzer
O and its green baby. :dthumb:
here is another pic of a damper Gas Man 03-04-2005, 10:46 PM Yeah... sure.... :screwy: jeeps84 03-04-2005, 11:07 PM Don't bother trying to convince Gas Man, :screwy: just get what you like.
