WOW I said WOW thats a lot of miles and it still looks great. I have never owned a bike longer then 15,000 miles. I'm at 12,300 right now on my 2000 GSXR750 and climbing. :)

Big Kahuna
08-09-2004, 03:06 PM
Yup, I'm the original owner. A lot of those miles were during two up trips with the wife. Still on the stock Honda clutch but I did feel it slip a bit in the 100+ degree weather on the way home from Laguna. Still riding it although I plan to replace the clutch soon. Hasn't slipped since the trip.

I recently replaced the upper, mids, lowers and pipe due to a disagreement with a mini van. The bike still runs as strong as the day I bought it.

Need4Speed
08-09-2004, 03:09 PM
a stock clutch too? wow  thats a tribute to the quality that honda makes, and has been known for. how did the mini-van make out in the disagreement.. ;) were u riding at the time, or was it parked when the mini-van did its thing?

Big Kahuna
08-09-2004, 03:27 PM
Yeah, I was on the bike at the time. To make a long story short, I was out riding on a rural road when I came around a corner to see a mini van making an illegal u-turn directly in front of me. I was able to slow down quite a bit before I was struck, but I still brushed off the side of his van which then knocked me to the pavement.

I have had just one spill with my 900RR a few years back. An older lady pulled out in front of me and it was a very hot day and the tar on the road was very bubbly. I hit the brakes and the back tire hit all the tar and it and me where sliding down the road as she pulled out and left. I got right up and picked my bike up and parked it in the parking lot of the gas station right there and walked to my house without looking at how bad my bike was. A few days later I finally went to get my bake and it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. Luckly for me it still had stock pipe and I was getting it replaced later that week. That gave me a good reason to get the fairing as well now to. LOL But I am still riding to this day so far and plan on it for a lot longer. :)

Big Kahuna
08-09-2004, 05:02 PM
Yeah, the bike wasn't damaged too bad and it actually looked pretty good after I cleaned it up. After I got the quote on parts and labor from the local shop I cashed out my claim and fixed the bike myself. Because of all the great deals on-line, I was able to fix all the broken stuff, a few other things I wanted to fix, replace the helmet that was damaged, get some new gear and still have nearly 1,500 left. Getting the bike evaluated at the local Honda shop is just about all the shop is good for. Their prices were well over list.

Attached is a photo of the bike at the scene.

Need4Speed
08-09-2004, 05:16 PM
yeah, not bad at all ...glad its all fixed and good to go...

Big Kahuna
08-09-2004, 05:33 PM
Uh oh, another thread jack in the making... :)

I have a pretty good size group of friends that have bikes. Locally, I can think of at least eight friends that I ride with regulary. Unfortunately, they all live within a few miles of each other whereas I live about 50 miles away up in the mountains. I mostly ride by myself but we get together at least a few times a month to do some kind of ride together. We're going to try to get some more organized sunday rides together soon but unfortuantly not anywhere near PA. :(

Hey Big Kahuna Just got done looking at your site and very nice I might add. I saw all the mod changes you made to your bike. Did you do it after the reck or all over a period of time. Very nice 900. :)

Big Kahuna
08-09-2004, 05:47 PM
Thanks. I still need to update the pics on the mods page as I've changed over from gold to silver stuff and I still have a lot of trips to add. Everything else is the same. Micron doesn't make the same gold pipe as they used to. It's more a canary yellow as opposed to the deeper gold color that I had. So I replaced it with a carbon can and then changed the gold parts to silver.

We've been working on SBR (http://streetbikereview.com) so much that I have neglected my personal site.

Attached is a pick of the bike about a week before the accident.

Welcome! :twfrox:

Well, first off, is that a ful system or a slip on! Either way, you can just get a can. The reason I ask, is, if it's a slip on. Get a full system and get the bike jetted! But don't buy a D&D!!! As a matter of fact, if its a full system, maybe you can get a different can, like a Micron or Yosh!

Power... look at jetting it! Maybe change the gears. Get a -1 for the front and maybe a +2 in the rear... and the front will get real light in the city! But you're going to want to get a new chain as well!!

The carbone lorraine brake system is amazing. Coming into turn 12 @ nelsons(A hard left hander coming off a straight) the backend lifts of the ground under smooth application of the brakes. The bike is so balanced and light, and power is so smooth that its hard to unsettle the bike when you gas her.

So I took my RR to Detroit Euro CYcle's to get the suspension setup by there ohlins guy. He tells me he doesnt know how I rode the thing let alone finish in 4th place. The was very little rebound and setup way to hard for me. So if I dropped time off just by riding the bike imagine the time I'm gonna drop with the suspension setup for me.

Sweet! About time another Superhawk rider hopped on board here :D Like the lowers, :dthumb: , and what kind of the frame sliders are those, S&W?

Thanks Pickle! You are correct, the sliders are from S&W. The guy that makes them is a good friend of mine. If you need some, let me know.

Your Hawk is sweet as well. That's an awesome blue. Need more pics!!

Here's mine.....2002 F4I

Thats a nice bike and all, lots of custom work, but I got the same question that has probably been asked of you by a million people before. Why? I know you cant ride that thing like a real street machine is supposed to be ridden, so what do you do with it? Cruise around town? I aint trying to sound like a dick, either. Theres a lot of blood, sweat, and tears into it im sure and I can respect anything that somebody has put their all in, but I just want to know why. Seems to defeat the purpose of owning a sport bike. I know its still just as fast, but doesnt the swingarm hurt cornering performance to some extent? Im sure it keeps the front wheel down though under hard acceleration. That could be nice. Its more or less the turns, the fun part of riding, that Im wondering about.

the vette has....
CNC heads
cams

headers (cooks)
x pipe (cooks)
borla stinger cat back
k and n intake
throttle body
valves
dyno tuning

etc........

it sounds really mean, i downshifted and hit the gas and a buddy in a car beside me though he hit somthing with the loud snap he heard.

Now, dont get me wrong here. But I got red flags popping up all over the place. Not saying that you dont own a Vette, but I want to see the dyno sheet of 500rwhp with this setup. Let me start by saying, I know a great deal about modifying these cars, so theres no bs'ing here. To get 500RWHP out of a N/A 346 motor is one hell of a feat, unless you are spraying.

One of the most aggressive head/cam packages out there comes from a company known as Cartek, and even the guy that has this setup on his car only laid down 491 at the wheels. This is with an insanely set up car, w/ a Fast 90/90, Cartek 4x H/C, meziere electric water pump, you get the idea. Unless you got some spray under the hood, its gonna take more to convince me. Not that it matters to you what I think anyhow, but the number of 500rwhp just got my :wbs: flags flyin.

Now on to your modification list:
CNC heads: What manufacturer? Specs? CC's?
Cam: As in one. You have "cams" written. Manufacturer? Lift/Duration?
Manifold? AND headers? I'll take it as an intake manifold. Company is Kooks, BTW.
Who does your engine work and dyno tuning?

Again, not saying you dont have a Vette, or even that you dont have some mods. But 500rwhp N/A along with some of the other errors here lead me to believe we have entered a pissing contest. So, prove me wrong if you like.

Thanks for the compliment. Why did I do what I did to my bike....well to me it's no different that adding rims or a stereo to a car or truck. It enchances' it a little. Now I do ride my bike almost everyday to work and I get down and dirty with the rest of the fellows. As far as corners are concerned, I've never been big on them anyway so the extended swingarm did not hinder me in that aspect. I do like to put it on the track every now and then (the PCIII helps out a lot). So in a nut shell, my bike is go as well as show! :dthumb:

you have to have it hosted somewhere online. Lot's of people have the free accounts with photobucket. Or you can upload it to the gallery here (it won't show immediately, it gets approved by a moderator - but that doesn't take long). Then you use the image link above (the landscape thing) and post the Url. HTH.

Every one of my friends in the Marines said that. My brother almost converted after his enlistment in the MC was up, but he didn't want to wait 6 months after he got out. The reason why i joined the AF is because of my brother and his stoies of being a Marine.

Heres my 03 954RR at about 90% completion. House of Kolors kandy paint with chrome flake, ostrich skin seats, frame is polished and everything important is chromed except the swingarm and the wheels. Think imma kep the wheels black (maybe repaint). Just to keep the black looking colors on the bike as well. Got it awhile back and now she has almost 5,000 miles on her. Thought about doing strictly show, but lest face it. Its just too much fun to ride this one. So imma use it as a show/rider for a year or so.....=-)

10-22-2006, 12:11 PM
Still factory at the moment. Gonna buy some more goodies for it later on. Right now was more directed towards the paint and all the chrome parts while money is right. Ive always wanted something different, so decided on the 954 with some ugly paint, LMAO (Looks like a bass boat if u ask me). Anyways thats pretty much why its done the way it is. Now at bike night, i walk over str8 to my bike. Instead of having to look through all the Gixxers and be like..Ummmm which one of these is my bike, LoL....=-)

Mr954RR
10-22-2006, 01:42 PM
Yeah its different thats for sure. Maybe not the nicest color of a paint job. Was a little more flake than i expected. I took it out yesterday for about an hour. Just to see how good she runs compared to my old KanaTuna, LMAO. Ahhh man u cant even compare the 2 bikes. Think imma let the ole lady learn the ropes on the Tuna, then we'll graduate her to something else. I will take some good pics for ya in the next day or so, when the sun is out and the paint is shining. Been alot of rain down her in the south for the past few days. But i'll get some new ones up for ya in a day or so....=-)

Well, here's one of my honda's....

I bought it off a friend for $400 in 1988. It was missing a wheel and had crash damage. It was thrashed badly but I pieced it together for endurance racing.

My dinosaur 1987 Honda Hurricane 1000.
Bought it new, way back in May 1987.

My first UJM bike and my intro to "really fast" bikes,
for its time. Still runs like a dream. Stone stock except
for braided lines and a slightly taller windscreen.

At nearly 60, I have lost much of my courage and the
skinnyazz tires were never in the same league as the
sling shots of today, for really leaning in corners.

But, still fun, very fast for me,
and a dream to ride. Thanks and
Best Regards,
