Buy it online. Luckily my shop has a price match. Too bad I didn't know of americanmototire but I managed to get the M1 rear for 120 and the front for like 89. they were charging 150 r and 120 fr. yeah, you're better off online. I would find out if they have a price match too. If not then bounce the cost of them installing a tire you bring in and the cost of the tire you bring in against a tire they will order and install for free. Most shops install for free if you buy them there, know what I'm sayin? Did you tell them about the fix-a-flat?

Some dealers and/or shops wont put the tire on unless you buy it from them. They will call it a legal issue but thats gotta be BS. So start your calling now, or be running around later.

Well, as for the tire, some places will charge more to mount it if you don't buy it from them. So, I would check the price of the tire online and then find out the mounting cost. Then check with the dealer to see what they will charge to order and mount the tire. Go with the cheapest, obviously. I have no advice on brand, to be honest.

Don't forget to scuff the tires before you ride on them, and still go slow and be extra careful until they're good and broken in!! I made this mistake once already, when I put my rear on, first time I rode it made a right turn from a stop and going super slow (barely moving, knowing new tires are slick) and it was like I hit a patch of ice... rear end just slid right out from under me and spun 180 degrees and highsided to the left (low speed, but still threw me pretty good). Being that the bike didn't have a single scratch or imperfection on it beforehand... yea, I was quite pissed. Now the new front tire I just put on I made sure got a good scotch brite pad scrubbing, sandpaper scuffage, several good washings, etc to make sure all that glaze crap was off. I guess I'm a little paranoid now

Third is telling the truth... watch out on new tires!! And do what Capt says... check around. Many places are known for that. Being that you're in Cali, I'm sure you have more than one dealer you can goto! Also, don't worry about the tail bag until you get this all straightened out. But you look like you're on the right track.

Was it a Dunlop? No, that was what I had just replaced actually. I replaced my stock Dunlop D207's with the Roadtec Z6, first time out on the new tire... BAM!

As mush as I disslike the D 207's I dont know about the Roadtec Z6 :skep: For the type of riding I do, which is mostly straight ahead highway riding since we have no friggin twisties whatsoever ( :cursin: ), and commuting back and forth to work and school, so the Z6 work real well. I wanted something that would last for quite a few miles, rather than a soft sticky tire that would wear out quicker. Now if I were taking it to the track, that would be a different story.... I'd put Pilot Powers or Diablos on most likely, not the Z6. Honestly though I never really had a problem with the Dunlops either. I got 9500 miles out of the original D207 rear, which alot of ppl though was pretty good, and never had any traction problems. The original front I just replaced was cupping pretty good but still had decent tread. Got a screw right in the middle though that left a nice big hole, so I replaced it.

American moto tire is a good online place to buy from the tires are not old, the ContiRoadAttack i just got from em looked brand new out the factory door, not something that was made in 2003. And i also just got my Technik Race boots from NewEnough.com about 2 days ago...love em, lighter and very sturdy, seem like they'll last forever.

i shoulda taken the pic of the tire beofre i replaced it..... it had a 8" or so strip of belts showing.. then i burned it out till it got belts tangled up into the sprocket, and turned gooey and showed no rubber just steel in the center. That dunlop still had a lot of mileage left  Does it not have wearbars though, cuz i didnt see any and it looked like there was still depth to the tread. And Jeeps- Newenough.com had great shipping speed... paid for it during the weekend and they shipped it monday. Americanmototire was also VERY fast shipping.. both co's are great customer service and speedy. I'm ordering a new Front tire tuesday.. think im going Z6.. i need mileage... 200 mi each way on weekend commuting would eat pilot powers in a month with pleasure ridiong durting the week.. i cant afford 360$ in tires every month for 5 monthes.....by time i figured in gas it would cost me less then half to drive my truck.
