Micron would be cheaper but, Erion on a Honda is like a Yosha on a Suzuki. They just go together like cookies and milk. :2cents:

I have an Erion slipon on my F4i. I purchased it with the PCIII loaded with the right map from Erion. It was expensive but the convenience was forth it :2cents: . They still carry F3 slipons ($339-$489) and full sets ($749-$899). They also sell the Dynojet jet kits for the F3 ($99) and they will probably package it so you get the right kit for the right exhaust. :luck:

He means cheaper by price... quality is subject to opinioin... Kaw = Muzzy Suz = Yosh Honda = Erion Yam = ? not sure But off coarse those can be put together in any way and still great results... heck Twisty's race R6 has a Muzzy and it gives out major hp!

my shiot cost 450 for the slip on high mount. i know i got ripped a little but at the time the only place that i could find to buy one was at the shop. there are not alot of online stores that sell micron.

Like Yosh and D&D are going to be your cheap slips(300 bucks) and TI Force and Arco's are going to be the highend.

Okay... so im crusing through here lookin for a new pipe.... more or less to make some noise so those cell-phone toting idiots out there can hear me. Now.. looking at the power numbers on the erion site.... only a 1.7 HP gain with only a pipe... obviously no power commander added. Ummm... yeah... 1.7 HP for $400?? I know this motorcycle world is a little different... but I think thats kinda silly. On that note... anyone else had better luck with any other slip on systems?? D&D, Two Brothers??? Mike

tev... when you do a slip on, you're not buying power you're buying sound.... if you want power go full system... I know that sucks..but it is the truth! :sorry: The 101 Sportbike book says that a slip-on is better for bikes that have auxiliary valves to improve low end (Yamaha). But both the slip-on and full system will be loud, look good, lose weight, and may run better. A slip-on is cheaper and lots easier to install. But the book also says if you want the biggest peak hp figure, the bottom end will take a hit.

I haven't read much of the book yet... I hate reading! :jacked: But it's mostly pictures. And it's very well written. I would like to adjust the cam timing (project #89), but it's one of the most dangerous (to the engine) if you do it wrong.

what most car guys don't know is 2hp on a bike is more than 20 hp on a car. the bigest thing is hp to weight raito. the second issue is how big a motor your working with. 2 hp on a 100hp bike is 2% and 20 hp on a 400hp car is 5% in crease in hp. while if the bike weighs 400lps and the car 4000, the bike makes more than twice the hp to lb raito. and the increase per pound that has to be moved is larger, or makes more of a diffrence. the numbers are not exact just a refrence. :yikes:

I have found that it takes about a 5 hp increase to get the seat of the paint feel. Anything less you will need a dyno to know if the mod made an improvement.

I've heard that... like Muzzy works best with Kawasaki's because they have been working with them for years and is designed to work better with Kawai's I had a friend who bought a ZX-7R the first year they came out. A kwaka bike shop in Melbourne were doing a deal putting Muzzy pipes on them, and selling them as WSBK look-alikes (we all loved the Go-Show back then!!). My friend test rode with the standard pipe, and they only put the Muzzy on when he'd committed to buy the bike. The bike ran woeful, and he had it back at the shop within the hour. They Dyno'ed the bike and the graph showed an extra 5 HP at the top of the range, but a huge flat spot between 3000 and 6000 RPM. lost about 10HP. The shop was able to fix it, but I can't remember how. If you can buy a pipe from a shop with a dyno, and get them to tune to the new pipe, That'd be your best bet. They may even have some comparisons from previous installs :dthumb:

jeeps84
07-31-2005, 09:56 PM
The 7's had a bad flat spot in them anyway. They have to be rejeted to run right form the factory.

Gas Man
07-31-2005, 10:42 PM
Alot of bikes with carbs have bad flat spots in the mid range... mostly because of EPA... that is where they do the emisions testing... like 4 or 5k RPMs....

What is the best exhaust for a 02 F4i? I had a Jardine on my 01 F4i but that bike was sold. I loved the tone of the Jardine but I dont know if it increased the HP. Im considering getting another Jardine system just cuz I loved the sound so much.

Full systems are going to show the biggest weight savings and hp increases.

I've enjoyed the 2 Brothers exhausts I've had on my Hondas - altho I had a CBR with a Yosh slipon and it sounded pretty good too. 2nd the comments about a slipon being mostly sound and not much gain in horsies. With the newer bikes the best thing to do in my opinion is to find someone that has a specific map for a Power Commander using the same pipe as what you purchased. That way you can maximize the gains.
