Need tire size info for 01' F4i

A friend of mine has a set of Dunlop 208's for sale. The rear tire size is a 190 to where mine is a 180. I'm wandering if the 190 will fit with no problems? Anyone have a 190 on the rear of their F4i? He's selling the pair for $100 and probably has about 5k left on them, so I'm thinkin' that a good price for that tire.

Not sure about your bike exactly... but you can probably put the 190 on it... but you'd be best off to check your clearances!!! The tire is going to be 10mm wider in the tread section... so 5mm on each side.... make sure it isn't going to rub the swingarm, tire hugger, brake lines, caliper, exhaust or whatever might be in the way!

You can get a 190 but why? What are you looking to get out of a 190 that the 180 doesnt do?

Usually only get 4K on a set of new tires, so you might want to measure how much thread is left. The Dunlop website will state the original thread. But buying used tires isn't cost effective after you add mount/dismount/balance, and if you don't do it yourself, having someone install/take off the wheels.

To be honest, that is kind of expensive for a set of take offs. Especially when a new set isn't really *that* much more expensive. People come into the shop and buy take offs all of the time, but we know which ones are ok to sell and which ones go to the tire graveyard, and the people who buy them understand they are only going to get a little bit of use out of them. They may be practicing their drag racing starts, or weird stuff like that, and just don't want a new set. I'd just be very weary to recommend buying used tires to someone who is using them for street riding. Just my :2cents:.

I'm not trying to get anything out of it twisty, thats just the size he has. With all these post said, I'll look into getting a brand new set. I hear the Mich. Pilots are good and I hear they wear out quickly. Any input on that compared to the Dunlop 208? Which ones are better to go with and whats an average cost getting them at the dealer w/ mount, balance, ect...
