Powder Coating

Has anybody ever had this done and what did you pay? Were you happy with it or what? I want to get my wheels done black. TIA

Check with you local body shops. If they don't do it, they should know who does. :2cents:

Never had it done and can't imagine not being pleased with it. I wish everything was powdercoated.... it would be great!!!

Have done auto wheels cost $25 wheel. Just look in yellow pages under powder coat, Vegas should have plenty. Powder coat much more durable than paint :thumbs:

We had a member on here a while back named officermartinez. He hasn't posted in a while but he has had his and his wifes bikes power coated. Here is a break down he gave in apost before on pricing on coating. Bar Ends - $10 per pair Clutch / Brake Levers - $10 each Triple Clamp - $35 Motorcycle Rim - $100 each Subframe - $75 Swingarm (includes rear brake mounting bracket) - $150 Front Fairing Bracket - $75 Motorcycle Frame - $300 - $350 (depends on frame) Forks - $? (dunno) Set of (4) rear sets with heal guards and footpegs - $125 Rear Spools - $10 per pair Rear Spool Stand - $60 Side Stand (kickstand) - $15 Hope that helps a bit.

Yum yum heavy metals and poisonous powder - what a good combo.. Powdercoat is ancient technology.. Autophoretic is the way to go... Too bad not too many people do that ****.. There is a place up here in Clinton Twp. that does it..

If you want an great primer under powder the 900 series is the stuff (very limited number of applicators, one in New Baltimore, MI). There are others that do some electrical enclosures and Baldor electric motor cases with autodep as primer and powder top coat. :2cents:

Because powder coating won't chip like paint and it is shiny as f_ck. Yep... you can hit powdercoat with a hammer and it will just sit there and shine back at you...

Just remember getting it done on alot of production parts awhile ago so my knowledge is vague.. I just knew at the time it was a replacement for powdercoating and ecoat due to improved qualities and now that I think about it all my parts were steel.. Consider me corrected..

Even with Powder you have to keep in mind that there all types that have the full range of thicknesses, impact and scratch resistance, UV stability, etc. Do your homework and ask what type they are using. Most of the manufactures info is on the web, Dupont, WB Fuller, etc.

We did Production Stampings for the Big 3, etc. I just remember Autophoretic was all the rage, etc. back then. Its just been awhile.. Maybe I should leave this type of info to the experts..
