Would you purchase first year bike? First year K1200RS had few problems all corrected by BMW next year.
K1200S looks to have a few problems transmission and valves. As much as I want to buy K1200S now, think I will pass and buy second year bike without being BMW guinea pig.

Few times a year make 900 mile day trip to vacation home, R1 might be lucky to make 300 miles in a day.

I would try not to do that.... for example...back in '01 (I think) when they came out with the newer style GSXR and revamped it from the old 2 round headlight...they had lots of problems... just as teh 10R did last year!
So no... I wouldn't!

I have the same rule for cars. Give them a year or two to sort out the bugs, then i'll be all over it.

I was gonna go against my rule when they brought the new mustang out. I was just gonna lease one for 6 months then flip it. I still might, but now i might wait for the rag top.

i would wait a few years on the new stangs or new anythign, you know they always make it better the next year.
That rule doesn't only apply to Cars and Bikes. I apply that to major software applications... like MS products... I try to wait till they have there service pack 2 released... before I buy it...
