Since the polls appear on the front page, I have to limit the options. :sorry: zx636r 04-11-2005, 07:28 AM yeah yeah i know but you forgot jacket only. lol Low 04-11-2005, 07:47 AM :iagree: but what about foot wear... I seen Flip-Flops on some riders  zx636r 04-11-2005, 07:48 AM IMO, if ur not gonna wear a helmet, you may as well just go out in, Tshirt, mesh shorts and flip flops. kanwisch 04-11-2005, 08:17 AM I'm almost always geared from head to toe simply because of my average distance per ride. The occassion I'm making a 10mi jaunt, I'll dispense with the pants. twisty 04-11-2005, 08:27 AM What kind if riding are you talking about? riding or RIDING? Mojo 04-11-2005, 09:11 AM Boots! :iagree: I'm politically incorrect here...If I am going for a ride, I gear up...Otherwise my lid is the only equipment every time out...Yes, I wear shorts and a T shirt to go get a newspaper or to go for a coffee, or to stop by Walgreens...I even wore my tennis shoes on a beer run once. :yikes: I know the risks every time I let the clutch out, but sometimes I am too stupid to care...need stronger meds ShanMan14 04-11-2005, 12:09 PM Poll has been edited to "street" riding. :sorry: zx636r 04-11-2005, 12:27 PM :iagree: I'm politically incorrect here...If I am going for a ride, I gear up...Otherwise my lid is the only equipment every time out...Yes, I wear shorts and a T shirt to go get a newspaper or to go for a coffee, or to stop by Walgreens...I even wore my tennis shoes on a beer run once. :yikes: I know the risks every time I let the clutch out, but sometimes I am too stupid to care...need stronger meds

I see you are attending the same english classes as Bulldog... But after years of experience, you learn how to carry a case of beer in a bike. It's called saddlebags and a backpack!! zx636r 04-11-2005, 02:00 PM dude saddlebags wtf. lol dude beer in a back pack is heavy. plus i only buy beer by the 30pack, its too expensive any other way. lol jeeps84 04-11-2005, 11:40 PM General ridding I ware Boot, gloves, jacket, helmet and sometimes pants.

Exactly the same way I do it! If it's a going to be a fast day with WOS...full leathers... if it's just cruisin to a bike night... helmet, gloves, jacket, boots, and jeans...
I need to get some ridin/draggin jeans!! jeeps84 04-12-2005, 08:34 AM Exactly the same way I do it! If it's a going to be a fast day with WOS...full leathers... if it's just cruisin to a bike night... helmet, gloves, jacket, boots, and jeans...

I just hate it when I get it wrong.
Out for a casual day and it gets wild with out leathers.
Out for a fun fast day with leathers and end up cruising town.
I usually break off on my own these days! Gas Man 04-12-2005, 09:36 AM Yeah it happens to me everyonce and a while... it sucks but oh well... if I'm in jeans and it starts to get fast... just lay back and play it cool. It I'm in full leather and it's more cruisin... just cruise and don't worry about it... jeeps84 04-12-2005, 09:39 AM I'm in full leather and it's more cruisin... just cruise and don't worry about it...
Unless its 80+ degrees. :cursin: zx636r 04-12-2005, 09:40 AM these are all reasons y im afraid to get full leathers. i knwo if i do i will do nothing but hang off the bike and just fly every where. full leathers is like an invincible suit. just iwth a helmet, leather jacket, leather gloves, boots and jeans i prolly take it to far, couldnet imagine it with full leathers. prolly wait till next year. jeeps84 04-12-2005, 09:42 AM these are all reasons y im afraid to get full leathers. i knwo if i do i will do nothing but hang off the bike and just fly every where. full leathers is like an invincible suit. just iwth a helmet, leather jacket, leather gloves, boots and jeans i prolly take it to far, couldnet imagine it with full leathers. prolly wait till next year.
They do give you a sense of security and allow the brain to take it further without worry. Gas Man 04-12-2005, 09:59 AM They do give you a sense of security and allow the brain to take it further without worry.
Exactly... after I went down and walked away w/o a scratch I knew that leathers are the only way to go! jeeps84 04-12-2005, 10:09 AM Exactly... after I went down and walked away w/o a scratch I knew that leathers are the only way to go!
Yep!
How much do leathers cost?
How much for treatment and meds for road rash + time to heel?
Even a cheap leather suit is worth the money if needed. :2cents: Gas Man 04-12-2005, 11:42 AM Yep Yep!! Pigface1 04-12-2005, 12:52 PM When you are wearing full leathers on the street, do you wear a back protector too? It kind of seems you have to if you wear one on the track, otherwise your leathers won't fit right. . ? jeeps84 04-12-2005, 12:56 PM When you are wearing full leathers on the street, do you wear a back protector too? It kind of seems you have to if you wear one on the track, otherwise your leathers won't fit right. . ?
Mine is made to fit the suit.
I usually leave it in.
I also feel I need more protection on the fast street days then on the track. Gas Man 04-12-2005, 12:57 PM Nope I don't wear my back protector as well. I think it's a waste of material and bought it only for the track to keep the fun governors at bay... Pigface1 04-12-2005, 01:01 PM ****, if I go down the first thing I'd want on is a back protector. . a real one, not the foam crap. Am I missing something?
My Alpine Stars 2 piece suit doesn't even have a back protector in it. Gas Man 04-12-2005, 01:03 PM My JR speedmaster jacket has a bp in it... that's why I don't understand the need to have another one on! jeeps84 04-12-2005, 01:08 PM My JR speedmaster jacket has a bp in it... that's why I don't understand the need to have another one on!
Take that junk out and ware a real BP. :2cents: Pigface1 04-12-2005, 01:09 PM My JR speedmaster jacket has a bp in it... that's why I don't understand the need to have another one on!
Yeah, but it's just foam, not armor, right? Pigface1 04-12-2005, 01:15 PM Wait, you've got the aero hump, not just the typical padding. Do people also wear full protectors under these .. Twisty??
http://www.newenough.com/product_pictures/j/joe_rocket_speedmaster_jacket/black_back.jpg jeeps84 04-12-2005, 01:27 PM I do! Pigface1 04-12-2005, 01:41 PM Okay, so next question, how many sizes up do you have to go to compensate for the back protector? This is the one I have, but I imagine most go down enough to protect your tail bone as well?
http://www.newenough.com/product_pictures/j/joe_rocket_gpx_back_protector/back.jpg Gas Man 04-12-2005, 07:18 PM Yeah, but it's just foam, not armor, right?
Yeah its all foam for both!!! Pigface1 04-13-2005, 08:56 AM Jeeps, how much do you add to the suit when sizing to compensate for a back protector? bumblebee 04-13-2005, 11:21 AM I have these, so you can wear whatever you want over it... Pigface1 04-13-2005, 11:43 AM Makes sense, but I wonder how well they hold up in a slide, etc? bumblebee 04-13-2005, 05:56 PM Just once, I hope... :dthumb: They are cheap enough to through away and buy another...they are about what a mid-range helmet costs...and you replace your helmet if you bang it, right?? ScottSellersUNR 04-13-2005, 07:39 PM In the rare event the keg goes dry unplanned then the only toher option is bottles cuz cans are nasty. And good beer does not come in anthing bigger then a 12 pack. normally its a sixer of something good, not Budweiser, coors and all that garbage. If its a 6'r its normally Fat Tire or at least Pacifico or something decent. Bad beer is a waste of money.. if u want it to taste bad then drink shots of cheap stuff... faster and cheaper. But a Keg of GOOD beer is cheaper then the equal amounts of Budweiser or Coors. a keg is just about 3.5 cents an ounce... thats 40cents a can... even buttweiser isnt that cheap and it doesnt even taste good.... one 16 gallon keg lasts about 3 weeks or so at my house.. so with my share thats 17.5 a month for all the beer i want..... cant do that on 30 packs. Get a old fridge that works... buy a Kegerator kit, install it with a good thermostat and enjoy REAL beer. ScottSellersUNR 04-13-2005, 07:42 PM if you want a good protector that u cna wear alone or under your leathers check out 661's stuff they only have 2 suits really that u could use on street, and one would be under only as its short sleeve protector but they have one pressure suit thats NICE, i got to see there stuff at the Reno Motorsports here and the quality is GREAT. Back protector is very sturdy too, yet flexible forward so its comfy still.
http://www.vsportgroup.com/gearmoto/armor_pressuresuit.html jeeps84 04-13-2005, 11:43 PM Jeeps, how much do you add to the suit when sizing to compensate for a back protector?
Like I said earlier, mine is made for the suit.
I ware my normal size.
Most quality suits are made with fitting a hard BP in mind.
I would guess one jacket size up should do it for the rest. Captain Morgan 04-17-2005, 08:02 PM I wear full gear. I'm probably going to buy either some draggin jeans or some under armour so I can forego the leather pants while just cruising around town. But I HATE to just cruise around town anyway, I'd rather go RIDE.
Saw a squid yesterday wearing shorts, t-shirt and tennis shoes. No lid, either. Gas Man 04-18-2005, 06:13 AM Yep that's a SQUIDTARD! jeeps84 04-19-2005, 12:28 AM Yep that's a SQUIDTARD!

Damn Skibby! jeeps84 04-19-2005, 10:27 AM That's ok!
I like it to! Jade 06-03-2005, 08:04 AM Helmet: Shoie or KBC
Gloves: Alpinestar
Jacket: Teknic Blade1413 10-18-2005, 01:26 AM I have a Joe Rocket jacket and a HJC helmet. Because I used/will be using my bike for to/from work and to/from school I don't really do much as far as protection for my legs. I will wear jeans if I can but a lot of the times its just plain khaki paints. I will not lie, I wear plain tenise shoes and dress shoes for work. I have ridden with only shorts more times than I can count. I guess the way I thought about it was that it's during the summer (humidity is crazy) and the temperature, down here in south florida, can get real extreme in city riding. If I'm wearing khaki's how much more protection could they really offer compared to shorts..
Sometimes I've unzipped my jacket all the way or at least partially to let some good air in so I don't sweat to death. I can't get to work and smell like absolute shii@.
Heat and ability to show up to an office setting (possibly wearing a suit) will become a problem coming into the summer when I graduate and get a "real" job, rather than bartending.
Any recommendations on what I should get? I road like this for almost 4 years, without a car, practically every day (sun, rain, winter, summer)... I actually road within 1/2 mile from a tornado touching down one day, boy talk about riding at a 45 degree angle but still going straight.. By the way I don't mind riding in the rain much at all.. I just need to find something that's easy and will keep my legs and some other areas from getting soaked on my way to work. Florida weather can be deceiving, sunny and then a downpour, but you can usually ride through it within a few minutes. I actually go faster sometimes just to make it through quicker, with the funny tourists pulling off under the bridges and i'm clearing the rain within a few miles.. | |
