Have you ever crashed your bike?ShanMan14 05-25-2005, 08:06 AM For motorcycle riders, it's not a matter of if, but when... zx636r 05-25-2005, 08:18 AM yup took me about 3 months. lady pulled out right in front of me. but i made out better getting in the wreck. but i hope it never happens again. bumblebee 05-25-2005, 08:25 AM I watched the bee fall over in the garage... :cursin: ...so I have the superglue and electricians tape on one crab eye...but so far the bee has been crash free...but I have fallen at least once on every bike I have owned... XtremeRacingDiva 05-25-2005, 08:26 AM When I first got it...took it out on the street and a minivan came right at me and I pantic and grabbed throttle and BAM... ALL CURB... The bike went down on my leg and I could ride for about 2 weeks. Mostly confidence went down :) kanwisch 05-25-2005, 08:28 AM Yup, more than once on the same bike. Just part of the learning curve, I suppose. The learning bike I've got's a tank. No serious damage on the low side but the rear ending cause lots of things to break :cursin: Gas Man 05-25-2005, 10:45 AM With my old EX500...I had a Winslow type incident... hold rodin in a parking lot and nipped the curb and bang! Also, had a driveway drop with that bike.
The 9R...I had a near miss in a parking lot but saved the drop with my leg. Then I had the deer incident... and that sucked! GSXR1000DJ 05-25-2005, 10:50 AM With my old RF900RR I had, I was coming up to a stop and was going to roll through it till I had to stop completely and...well...I didn't put my feet down and you know the rest. Little scratchs and all. Nothing to big.
Then there was the other time and last time that some old lady pulled out in front of me and stoped and looked at me. I had no choice but to throw the bike down and roll with it. We went about 50ft or so and I bounced past the bike. as we were sliding towards the car, she pulled out and left. :bash: About $1500 in damage and that was with a full new Yosh I put on. r1sharknose 05-25-2005, 10:51 AM I've went over the handlebars a couple of times. One of them at over 70 mph lucky for me i was on a dirt rode. And i was a young whipper snapper back then :D Pigface1 05-25-2005, 11:03 AM I joined the Over the Bars club on an XR-80 when I was about 10. Haven't been down since.
edit: Actually, I dropped my CBR in my driveway. lol DAN DUBEAU 05-25-2005, 11:33 AM Nope, havn't gone down on my bike. But i have had some one go down on me while sitting on my bike :dthumb:
Shan, you really gotta watch these thread titles a little more  Pigface1 05-25-2005, 11:57 AM Shan, you really gotta watch these thread titles a little more
Part of me wanted to reply with just, "No, but I have on your sister." I'm able to restrain myself a little more these days I guess. :leaving: zx636r 05-25-2005, 11:58 AM I've went over the handlebars a couple of times. One of them at over 70 mph lucky for me i was on a dirt rode. And i was a young whipper snapper back then :D
please say that was 70 on a dirt bike and not a sportbike. :wredx: r1sharknose 05-25-2005, 01:10 PM No it wasn't a dirt bike or a sportbike. This was in the 70's pre sportbike days.I think they called them cafe racers back then.
It was a suzuki gt 250 streetbike that i flipped (and it threw me over the bars)doing a wheelie. Then 3 weeks later i hit a gully washed out on a dirtroad doing 70+.I remember it well,i had just hit 80 goin into 6th when i saw the washout, about 4 car lengths away.My first thought was the brakes, but it was so big i had to get the front wheel over it.So i bounced it and got the front wheel over it.But the back wheel went in and hit a wall, kicking it up and over. That was the last thing i remember about the wreck,my brother came along later and woke me up. I was about 70 yards from the gully and right beside my tore up bike... bumblebee 05-25-2005, 01:27 PM I joined the over the bars club one summer while attended college classes. I was coming around a curve, watching this 9 ft tall pair of hot pants walking across campus and drove into the back of a SIU work truck...I did get her number and a date though! WildMonkey 05-25-2005, 05:48 PM Many years ago, when "Dual Sports" were called "Enduro's" I laid mine down, stopped sliding with my head resting on the front tire of the car that caused that little shenanigan, have been over the bars on a couple different dirt bikes, and have gained a new appreciation for full face helmets in the process, and even had to turn lose of one or two and just watch it all happen. I was washing my '01 Kat when I accidentally pushed it off the side stand, and I couldn't catch it ! :sob: I'm hoping the God's will go easy on me with the new bike..

Steve. Roach954 05-25-2005, 06:23 PM The 954 fell once in my stone driveway :bash: The R6 never went down. As for my younger days, I have some injury pics that you guys probably dont even want to see. The dirt has shown me the most pain. Maybe I should start up a worst injury/scars thread and see how close somebody can come to what I've got. R1up0n1 05-25-2005, 06:35 PM I haven't gone down riding yet, but I have dropped it 3 times in parking lots and stupid sh@t like that. Just a matter of bad footing, or wet grass. I have only damaged the bike one time. I was next to a concrete barrier and I parked to close, when i went to put my foot down, my leg got caught on the peg or something, all I know is it went over and scratched/cracked the right rear fairing and seat cowl. So I bought new rear fairing. I went ahead and bought a new gas tank too since it had a small dent in the tank from the bar hitting. I then got the custom paint job, and haven't let er down again.....yet. ShanMan14 05-25-2005, 07:31 PM Shan, you really gotta watch these thread titles a little more
Yeah, I realized that after I posted it. WildMonkey 05-25-2005, 07:34 PM They all taste like Gas, Oil, & Rubber..? :leaving:

steve. DLIT 05-25-2005, 07:34 PM i went off the road a couple months after getting it. i over shot a turn and there was too much gravel on the shoulder to brake effectively so i tried riding it off road and as soon as the front tire hit loose dirt I was down. Luckily it was a sharp turn so I was onl doing 20-25. It turned out good with the insurance claim. Pipe, PC3, and a K&N all for the price of the stock can. It also went over in the garage but luckily all the fairings were off. JK_DILLA 05-25-2005, 07:41 PM No never. And im well past my due and used up all my close calls so any day now... Ive never broken a bone either, i think ill do em both at the same time. Grafixx01 05-25-2005, 09:58 PM I haven't crashed yet. Had a close call yesterday when I was riding next to a Ford Expedition. I looked directly into the drivers eyes, she looked back at me riding in the lane next to her. She then started to pull over into my lane and pushed me into on coming traffic. Then the cop pulled me over cause I flipped her off. He called another car and then pulled her over to give her a ticket. R1up0n1 05-25-2005, 10:06 PM I haven't crashed yet. Sweet! I got pulled over a few times on the bike for giving stupid squids in a cage the finger for their stupid driving. Among other things I've been pulled over for, speeding atleast 10 times- no ticket, wheelies atleast 12 times- no ticket, speeding and wheelies atleast 10 times- no ticket, and pulling a wheelie in front of a police station atleast 3 times - no ticket! damn I've been lucky. Mudpuppy 05-25-2005, 10:35 PM The only two bikes I ever owned that I didn't wreck were my XT600 and my Katana.. Gas Man 05-25-2005, 10:39 PM That's a good story Graff... so the cop pulled you over just for giving her the bird? That's crazy... but once you told him the story he was cool?
Also, I find it not a good idea to make that type of eye contact with drivers... especially women in SUV's! bulldog 05-26-2005, 12:01 AM I haven't crashed yet. You mean wrecked as in "totaled"? twisty 05-26-2005, 01:14 PM There is not such thing as totaled. All bikes are rebuildable. Ace 05-26-2005, 01:34 PM Bee's and Dogs can smell fear! Gas Man 05-26-2005, 03:21 PM There is not such thing as totaled. All bikes are rebuildable.
You may be right! What about that old GSXR of your from Florida? Chuckademus 05-26-2005, 07:03 PM 5 lowsides, all on racetracks, all caused by either trying to go too fast into the corner, or trying to go too fast out of the corner. 1 required a new front brake lever, 1 was fixed using a pair of multigrips to take the bend out of the gearshift lever.
Ive got good photos of one at a practice day. A photographer was there, and taking photos of everyone as they came around the corner. He took a photo of me, turned away to look for the next guy, heard the unmistakeable sound of grinding fibreglass, and snapped off a series of shots of me sliding across the track. Considerate Bastard!! I'll put them in the gallery.

LOL, I think I got lucky again tonight! I took off work early and hit the road on the bike since today has been the nicest day in the past 2 weeks. I went riding to get use to the area, and I couldn't find one good road around here! It seemed like I kept doing circles and I was getting pissed. Anyway I took off on this side road and it had some nice curves, and a cop passed me while I was in the middle of the curve I was doing aprox. 80 mph in a 25 zone, I just romped on the gas and left, never saw him again. Then I got on the interstate board as could be., I saw another bike way up ahead, hmm str8 shot, so I open it up full throttle and lay on the tank, I see a cop on the other side of the interstate clocking people, but I said what can he do.. theres a barrier here. I continue with full throttle, I reach 150 and catch the other biker. I rode with him till my exit, next thing I see is a cop sitting at the exit ramp but he was facing the wrong way so I snook behind his back and nailed on the gas, then turned on my street and parked the bike! Now thats another luck streak! kilrgsxr750 05-26-2005, 08:06 PM ok picture this.im riding on a custom painted 93 zx7r,delaware ave in philadelphia doing about 45mph when out of Chrome night club comes 3 big fat drunk women. i change lanes and they change with me. like cows in headlights they were,i hit the brakes so hard i snapped the rear brake pedal right off. the last thing i remeber was my right foot hitting the ground and thinking "**** i slipped off the pedal.than i hit her...or kinda squished into her 6 foot 300 lb ass. I did the over the handle bar launch, my right arm took the fairing windshield brace with me and landed several feet down the road. i was out cold for 20 mins or so (smellin salts are horrible) and disl :nopity: ocated my shoulder.
every piece of plastic was spread out on delawre ave.
wierd thing was fatty had no injuries just some bruising and she's the one that called 911.
i never did find out who the bike club was the picked my bike up and secured the key and kriptonite on the sidewalk so the tow guy didnt take it. Gas Man 05-27-2005, 08:11 AM Chuck those are crazy pics... the 7th pic looks like you're just chillin on the track propin your head up!You obviously faired ok! How about the bike? Chuckademus 05-30-2005, 06:07 PM Hey Gasman
Bike was fine, I picked it up and tried to get going again, only to find the gear lever was bent in and locked behind the gearshift rod. Pushed it back to the pits, and took the multigrips to it, bent the lever back out, and was OK for the next session. Some cosmetic damage, and had to replace a bar-end plug.

At that time i had a little suzuki gn125. started to go through a turn and the road was wet and down she went, well all i had on was shorts and an undershirt. ended up sliding about 40 feet my entire right leg side of my chest and right arm got rashed up no broke bones though. picked it back up she started after a min and rode it back home. :pat: :pat:  CBR Rider 06-09-2005, 09:01 PM Turn 1 at VIR bit me... :bonk: Gotta blame the operator :bonk: :bonk: Chuckademus 06-12-2005, 09:01 PM I raced at Oran park this weekend (State Titles). Saturday was soaking wet, and the first real rain we've seen this year. Consequently, the track was as slippery as banana-skin covered ice. The Cagiva was running OK, but the rear tyre was getting loose every time under brakes. Last race of the day, turn 12, steep downhill into a gully before steep uphill, on camber, left hander onto the main straight, hit the anchors and the rear wheel steps out to the right to almost full lock before I release the brakes and get it back into line, at which point I'm heading straight for the air fence at (guessing) a little under 100K's. I try to turn the bike again, but the back end loses traction again and I'm just lying it over on the left side when I slam both wheels simultaneously into the air fence. The bike bounced away from me, and I just hit the track, but not before copping a hit in the nuts for my efforts.
Some damage to the bike, but I was ok, just a bit sore all over the next morning. Sunday was fantastic, The Moriwaki ran great, and I was happy with my riding, even though I would have liked to be further ahead in the field.
Woke up this morning with aches in places I didn't know I had!!
No pictures this time, but!!!
