Accident Wednesday night, worse then a bike wreck.

Wednesday night I came home and the worst Accident happend. My dog Max was hit by a car and killed. I would have rather high sided at 100+ and been paralyzed then lost him. MAX. He was my dog, a Fox terrier cross. He was the most amazing, couragous, fearless and confident dog. He will never be matched by anyone or anything for how amazing and loyal of a friend he was. His spirit and memory will live forever in me. If i ever need a pickup I can think of how amazing he was. I wish I could have his personality. He could inspire anyone. All he ever wanted to do was go places in the truck, play fetch and be with me. His friendship is truely cherished and will always be unmatched. It is so hard to go to bed and to wake up with him not laying at my legs. He was never out-ran to get to the ball first by any dog, and not afraid of the biggest Rotweiler or Pitbull. He was the most athletic and loving dog I'll ever have been lucky enough to own. Everyone who ever got to know him will remember him. He was a ass once in a while and never wanted to be ..2, so he'd push ppl to be dominate over them, but i feel so lucky to have had him for just over three years. Losing him was THE HARDEST THING i've ever dealt with. He was simply Amazing. R.I.P Max, 04/11/2002-06/15/2005.

Man, I am so sorry to hear that. I love my dogs like my kids, I feel for you. :angelhap: :iagree: , I'm sorry man. I don't have kids though but I know what is feels like to lose a dog who was very important to you. My mother's ex-husband starved my dog to death and then threw him in the empty lot next to his house instead of having him cremated like he said he did. I found that out cause the vet came into my old job asking about the dog, I told him what happened and he told me that the dog was never brought to him for cremation. So yeah, needless to say, I told my mother's ex-husband that he's an a-hole and if he ever came by me again that I'd kill him. * I rescued the dog from a neighbor who mistreated him and locked him on a porch during the time that he went away on a 2week vacation. He left food and water out on the porch in two of those like 5gal (?) extra large construction spackling puckets for him to eat and drink for the time he was away.

I'm really sorry for your loss, Scott :( I can definitely see from those pics how you'd be so attached to him. I'm an animal lover myself so I can totally understand what your going through, as I've lost pets before too and it took quite awile to get over it. They really are like part of the family. Last one of mine before my guinea pig suddenly died was a dog I had, took him in for surgery cuz he had cancer (huge tumor). They opened him up and it was so bad it had spread too much and there was nothing they could do, so they had to put him down. That really hurt.... Sorry again for your loss, and I hope you'll be able to find another one just as good as Max

Thanks for all the replies guys. Its getting a bit better now. It'll hurt for a long time i'm sure. I just got a 8x10 framed today of the picture of him at tahoe. Hung it up so when i wake up and look at the foot of the bed hes there, It was his favorite place..9pm everynight he was there, so if i cant pet him when i wake up at least i can still see Him as the beautiful dog he was, not how i last saw him. And im getting a solid wood frame made that fits my favorite pics and his collar in it under glass and each pic with a frame in wood, then ill get a engraving in copper at the bottom. I'll have to take a pic when its done, gonna be impressive, as i wouldnt have anything less for him. Should come out looking like 400$ FRAME. My Great Grandfather makes amazing wood work and has a shop and is going to make it. And i started looking at other dogs today, gonna get another, but not a small terrier, that respect will always be His. I'll own another, but not another that will ever be compared to who He was.

That's good that you have such great memories of your time. Pets are truely amazing how they just reach in and grab your heart like they were a son or daughter. What we feel for these pets is amazing. It's good to hear that there are honest and good people out there looking after them. Hopefully you will be able to get another pet and start sharing your time with that one. That may help as well later...

Scott, I am so sorry for your loss, I read your post over the weekend and have been thinking about you but couldn't bring myself to post.....until today. I lost my "first born" at just 3 yo. in a terrible tragic accident a few years ago, my life will never be the same without him and I think of him everday. But what I wanted to tell you (and I see you are doing better from your recent post) that look back on the times you had with him and even though it was just a short time, think of how much you brought to each other in that time. I really feel for you and am so very glad you are able to open your heart and home to another dog and I would like to encourage you to check your local humane society or rescue facility (petfinder.com is also a great tool). Good luck and lots of good thoughts, wet nose kisses from our fur crew over here & to you at this time.

Scott, Very sorry to hear of your loss. I lost my puppy (well he was 11 yrs) back in November. He was a Yorkshire Terrier (a little man) and he was buddy. Just like my "little brother" LOL> He was very protective over me. While I was pregnant he would sit on my belly and if anyone would walk over to me he would stand up as if he was ready. It is so hard losing a pet because they are so much like a friend or a child. My sympathys go out to you!!!

Sorry for the loss. I never wanted a dog, yet broke down and my wife adopted our "boy" just over a year ago for her birthday. His name is Brutus and he has become my buddy! Cant even imagine life without him. We all grow fond of our pets (I treat mine like my own son). Its difficult to get over such a loss. The collar shown in hte picture is the same one my boy had until we got him his custom embroidered one. So sad. Now I feel the need to go pick him up fro Day Care and go to the park. In memory of Max.....

All we know is that mom was Chihuahua and then we believe he has Dauchund and boxer mixed with him according to the vet and perhaps a bit of hound or terrier. He is just a little over 1 years old and weighs about 20 lbs. Perfect size! Small enough to take places yet big enough to still play and rough house with a bit. We found him on Petfinder.com and adopted him from a rescue in Grand Rapids, MI. Came from a litter of 6, I now wish we had adopted one of his brothers or sisters with him.

You should let Judy know to keep you in mind if something similar size to him comes along. She gets a lot of those little types of dogs.

Not sure if I could handle 2 cats and 2 dogs. LMAO. We already said when we get a new house it will have bigger yard. THen I woul dlike to get "my" dog. Either a Gray Hound or Great Purinese, so Brutus will have a big buddy.

Scott, sorry abt ur dog. We've gotta zoo at my house. 8 cats (1 just showed up bk in Jan on our porch crying) & 1 small dog, a boston/jack russell mix. Good thing we live out in the boonies. To explain to everyone why so many felines. . .2 belong to my sis. She moves out they go too. 2 belong to me, tho one is 16. Dunno how long she's got left after having surgery to remove skin cancer. When I move bk to MO they go w/ me. That leaves the other 4 that belong to my mom--a brother & sister, 2 strays. I know just how attached u get to ur "kids." If u think ur ready for another dog, 'cuz I'm sure the place seems empty w/o him, :luck: & hope u find the one ur lkg for. Otherwise, take some time. Don't rush into it. I'm sure when u find ur next fido he'll be one lucky dog.
