Motorcyclst Dies on 240...Witnessed
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cajun and I were coming back from the casino tonight and heading home on I240. We passed by Bryant and then the traffic came to a stop. After a minute or two Natalie noticed someone sprawled out on the highway. She said "He was riding a motorcycle."
As we pulled ahead a Harley rider laid on the highway. We pulled over with about five other cars and tried to help. Myself and three other people tried to give him CPR. When I checked for a pulse he was cold...very cold. Two people had been standing over him for a few minutes and said he hadn't moved.
We must have tried for about 5-10 minutes. He starting (what we thought was choking) spitting up, but never regained a pulse. The police, FD, and EMTs arrived and pronounced him dead at the scene.
First of all I hope this message hits all of you who agree with a No Helmet Law. Second, please whatever you do don't drive your motorcycle (Or car) after you have been drinking. These two factors are what killed this motorcycle rider.
An eye witness claimed that he entered onto 240 from Bryant. From the moment he entered the highway he was driving sporatically. Next she saw him hit one of the round orange barries and enter one of the huge rectangular holes in the road. (Tho holes were about 10x3 feet and about 20 yards apart.)
I believe he had a compound fracture on his left leg as it was dangling, bad road rash on his arms, and no exterior head damage. He had to have broken his neck on impact.
1. Please wear a helmet.
2. Please don't drink and drive.
RIP rider. I pray for his family.

There's no helmet law here and I see so many people riding without gear, cruisers and sport bikes alike. When are they going to learn that looking "cool" not only isn't worth it, but it makes you look like an idiot to those that know better.
I don't want to start some squid/rub bashing thread, just be safe.
