So he haulled my ass off to jail. Finger printed mug shot the hole works.. So what kind of FINES have you guys GOT?
zx636r 07-01-2005, 10:02 AM i dont knwo about anyone else but b4 i pull wheelies i do a full scan of the area and also look for cop headlights and tail lights.
R1up0n1 07-01-2005, 10:19 AM I do the same as ZX636, but I have been busted so many times by sneaky f'n cops. I have always got off with a warning, lucky me, after getting atleast 6 marnings, I don't pull the wheel up in town very often anymore. Every state is different with these fines. I can't believe he just didn't write yo a ticket, I mean d@mn jail is a little harsh for something like that.

R1up0n1 07-01-2005, 10:41 AM yeah well SV i think after reading the post about wheelies and cops in pa i think there gonna start handing out tickets.
:iagree: Yup, I really need to stop pulling wheelies in the Chambers Hill area, stupid me, every time I pull one on 441 I pull one up and ride it to the interstate. The police department is right around the corner, I've never been caught yet, but my time will come. I try to stick to wheelies on back roads only, but it's so hard not to do one just to show off or becuase I like to do them.
zx636r 07-01-2005, 10:48 AM lol i was up at chambers hill rd last weekend. and someone jsut said somethign about koups having some kinda thing again soon.

R1up0n1 07-01-2005, 10:57 AM Sweet, I still need more peeps to ride with, remember I'm available for a ride Mon-Fri after 3:30, and all day on weekends unless I'm out of town on mini-vacations.

Hey, as far as I know, from my uncle (25yr law enforcement) and friend (MP), they both said that the cops MUST BE VISIBLE to the public. They cannot sit in blind spots, without lights on or anything like that. They MUST BE VISIBLE to the public in a way that it wouldn't cause an accident. So at night, that'd mean like viewable with like side-markers on or under a light on the side of the road.
Gas Man 07-03-2005, 02:17 AM :skep: I don't think so Graff!! The cops always sit in the dark. They must have visable markings on their vechicle. Is that what you mean?
Grafixx01 07-03-2005, 02:23 AM They must be visible. Like if you approach from the side, they letters are reflective, but from the front and rear, you must also be able to see them. I'll check with the local PD, call my uncle and find out from my friend on Tuesday where it all states that. But I've even been told that by other cops before.
So if they are like sitting in a "blind-spot", you have to be able to see something of their car from the front or rear cause they can actually cause an accident. Much like what almost happened to me on my bike like last week.
jeeps84 07-03-2005, 10:21 AM It varies from state to state.
ie. Ohio State has to have lights on when parking in the dark. The local Sheriff or Police can hide under the cover of darkness. I have noticed that some counties do it different as well.
Here in NC they all can hide anyway they want to, as long as they are not endangering the traffic flow. That alone is a strange rule because, Driving down the high way and find a cop. Every body slams on the brakes and that endangers the flow of traffic.
Gas Man 07-03-2005, 12:36 PM I think Jeeps is right...state to state is different
Here in Michigan, they can sit in the dark, behind a fat wife, or whatever they want. I had to bounce when I blew past a state popo on the highway at like 85 in a 55 on my bike. He was sitting in the dark under a overpass.
As far as markings... here in Michigan I believe they have to have at least one side of the car marked. Many new cars have the black reflective tape on the one side on the black car. Can't see it during the day and it is usually on the side that isn't facing you at night. They don't need front or rear markings. It gets pretty tricky....
Not to mention they have crown vics, impalla's, intrepids, chargers, and a few others.
jeeps84 07-04-2005, 12:36 AM Its :wbs: that they can hide and use unmarked cars in any state for traffic control.
Gas Man 07-04-2005, 03:13 AM I love that way of thinking but unfortuanately they don't think so...
jag9000 07-05-2005, 03:35 PM So far i have been pulled over 3 times with my bike 1 for NO Reason what so ever 2 was for PULLING a wheele just a warning then 3rd was Jail TIME.
But no speeding tickets on the bike yet. What about you guys i know you have SOME FUN storys to TELL :twfrox:
Gas Man 07-06-2005, 08:02 AM I don't have any fun stories about being pulled over on the bike... I think it's only happened twice. Not to say that I should have been pulled over more...just that I haven't

Glad that they have put a stop to ALL real crimes in Volusia County and have time to worry about wheelies :D
bumblebee 07-06-2005, 11:31 AM the fines didn't work...people paid them and treated them like a license to Wheelie, especially during Biketoberfest and Bike Week...so they passed an ordinance and got the legislature to pass a rule to support it and now they take you off the street. Multiple offenses and they take your bike...then you get to buy it back at auction...

That would pis me off if I went to go buy my bike back and someone else won the bid! :cursin:
Gas Man 07-07-2005, 08:58 AM :withstupi I mean a moving violation is just that... I don't think they have the right to take your bike. But then again I don't think the govt should have the right to take your land for more profit but the Supreme A-holes think it should be ok... so I guess we all loose! :cursin:

That definately sucks. With the money you'll end up spending, you could have bought yourself, like, a slew of "periods" and other punctuation marks  j/k
Good luck with that!

:iagree: I've never ran in a high speed chase or nothing, but there has been a quite few times where I have blown by a cop and he slammed on his brakes, and I take off like a rocket.

o yeah thats a given, if go by a cop that is going the othe way in traffic and i see him hit the brakes. its bye bye time for me. my rule is as long as i dont see the blue and red then its not evading police.

State of South Carolina states that the patrol veichle must has their parking lights on. they are not allowed to sit with nothing on. if you get pulled over in the state of south carolina and you have a witness (9 out of 10 times you do here) to go with you in court, they will drop everything.....i know this on a 1st hand basis.....
Stunt4Life 07-11-2005, 09:06 AM i say if u run a stop sign or something the stop for the cop but if ur doing 120+ on the highway or faster id get the hell outta there as fast as i could. if ur allready doing 120 and he registers you while hes parked on the side of the highway by the time he can get up to 100mph your allready a mile down the road or have taken the second exit of the highway.
I got a problem with athority

I didn't do that. Did 145 down this newly paved road the other day. That was fun. Then I got told that the kids with imports love to race there at night from like 12-3am. I was gonna go check it out but then also got told that the local sheriff runs those roads all night trying to catch people, even has put out spike strips!
ScottSellersUNR 07-12-2005, 02:29 AM it was mid day for me, maybe towards evening a lil...... thousands of cars and bikes at laguna though plus normal seasonal tourists too.... cops didnt hide, just patrolled.. but def wont be doing that again... luck only goes so far.

God, I wish people would take the time to READ the structure of what they wrote before they actually made it official and posted it!!!! That was about the most "grammatically-painful" posting I have ever had to read in a fair while. You don't happen to talk like that too, do you? :bonk:

GixxerSixxer 10-05-2005, 04:34 AM Same thing happend to me, It was about 9pm, me and a freind were just cruising around and he tried to pull up the front wheel, so not thinking i just decide to ride a wheelie past a cop. He pulls me over and says he could arrest me but he didint, instead he just gave me a wreckless driving ticket. came out to be $500.
Gas Man 10-05-2005, 05:01 AM That is pretty normal. The problem is that it is usually 6 points on your record. Then to add to that misery some states, including here in Michigan, are adding responsibility fees every year to you for tickets. Those run for 2 years or so and are VERY costly.
The reality is that the state is just looking to make more revenue on the "sinners" of society. People who speed, smoke, and/or drink. but who can blame a guy, if he starts drinking and smoking after having to pay all the fines! :nonod:
Marsolais 12-23-2005, 01:14 AM I don't know what the 169.13 is but if he is saying a zx6r was going 169.13mph I call :wbs: Mine maxed out at 162 on the tac so you can take 10% off the top for speed-o error. And I'm pretty sure reckless is going to cost more then $169.13. Just my :2cents: but I'm a MP that used to work traffic and I know reckless in GA is well over $169.
