i saw that on a gixxer at my local dealership and out of curiosity i asked what it was for. i think he said it flashes the lights for when you pass. don't know what good that really serves. i guess it's there for a reason.

It is a real wuick flash of the highbeams.... it is beyond popular in Euro... When you're in the far left lane and you want to pass somebody you are suppose to flash your highbeams and they are suppose to move over and allow you to pass. In euro, they also use the left blinker. Cause you're obviously not going to go left anymore so that is to signal "allow to pass". The problem here in the states is that people take it personally and don't want to move over.. the "this is a free country" mentality or "I'm alreay doing 5 over I don't have to move" The reality is that you aren't suppose to drive in the left lane unless you are passing. MOVE THE F over! On the way to the GAP, WOS expierence much of this fun. I remember looking back at Dyno and he was puttin on a light show for this **** that wouldn't move over... well guess what she got passed and cut off... F'in b ietches!

Safety tip No 1 If it's behind you, and you're going faster than it, it can't hurt you!! Safety tip No 2 If it's not behind you, pass it!! (yellow button optional!) Chuck

Its atcually to let out an oil slick for the people behind you... lol :bonk: I wish... But I do like this option... till then I'll have to use the normal high beam switch. Bull, first, good thread and title! :dthumb: Second, this is why alot of cars have the pull back on the wiper arm in your cars to flash the high beams.

Actually GasMan, if you talk to people who drive 18wheelers, you should do it when passing them. I do it all the time when I'm on the highways (outside of the cities). When you want to pass them, you pull behind to the left, flick the lights. He should flash his "decorative lights" to let you know that it is ok. Then you pass and continue on in that lane, he should then flash you his brights when it is ok to move back over when you have sufficient clearance. Then you flash your hazards back. Am I right 18wheeler drivers?

I've done it to them when I'm passing and they've done it to me when they are passing. It's just like universal.

Have to say I've only used it a couple of times but 9 out of 10 times the cagers get pissed if you politely hit the little yellow button to get out of the fast lane they like to sit in!!
