You use like "Reason" and that stuff? I'm looking for another program that will like let me take the vocals out of music, just to have like the beats. I like spinnin' my own stuff on tables, but sold mine when I went into the Army. So now I wanna do it on the computer. Know any programs? I tried Adobe Audition, don't know if that does it though. hmmm. I don't do a whole lot of the editing anymore, and haven't done it in a few years...I will ask one of the guys at work tomorrow that might know what is good on the market today.
We have a mixxer at work that we can upload the track and edit out the vocals...then burn onto a CD-R...I know that mixxer costs well over 20k. It does alot of other awesome things too. LOL...nah there's computer software that will atleast let you do just audio. this mixing board we have does video editing also, that's why its so expensive.
I really want to see this board we are going to be ordering for some place in NJ... we won the bid for the job..its estimated at over 20 million just in audio and video...anyway this board alone costs 250k...that is NUTZ!!! I get to play with it once it comes in...ya know gotta see how it works and all  Grafixx01 07-21-2005, 12:44 AM That's cool. Have fun playin' with the board.

I didn't like teaching, so I went into business for myself. Since I am also a risk taking person, I pulled up stakes and moved/travelled around the country. In my early to mid 20's I first moved to Florida, I took a job with a construction company as an operating engineer, This company had projects going all through the carribean and central america. I spent 2 years working/visiting in countries that most people dream about going to. I mention this because even after I returned to school for my accounting degree and graduate work, Travelling and living in various parts of the world have been the best education I have ever received. People, like Bulldog, who live on the west coast, have a different culture and point of view than people who live in Des Moines. I'm not saying one is better, they are different. They grow up facing different situations and choices to make. I judge a person's education more on their life's experiences then "book learning" I work with people with PHD's who can't change a tire or add oil to their cars. I know college graduates whose live's are in shambles because they never learn from their mistakes. One of the men who taught me the most about life, didn't get past the 6th grade, because he had to work to help his family, and when he died, he owned 5 Holiday Inns...So it is a good tread Bull, because education is not just about what diploma you have EIDROEDYR 07-21-2005, 08:55 AM because education is not just about what diploma you have

I'll keep this short because I do agree that this thread could get ugly. I've attended four universities and one technical school. I graduated certified in electronics and will be receiving my bachelors this winter. However, I have worked in the automotive industry for the last 11 years and that has taught me much more about life and people. It is good to educate yourself and be knowledgeable, but actual education is only part of the bigger picture. pickle.of.doom 07-21-2005, 09:29 AM I went to community college. ... And I work at a pizza joint  fatburg 07-21-2005, 10:22 AM pretty tough to compare completely different majors in my opinion. And as far as the masters thing, that is also misleading at times. My wife was required by the school district she teaches at to get a Masters, she did, but she agrees it was pretty much a joke. But she has a beautiful piece of paper and a raise so it works.
I have an electrical engineering degree from U. of Missouri-Rolla. :iagree: Nursing is a good field for ANYBODY to get into. Everyday day I look into the newspapers and there are adds for RN's & LPN's....always with a helluva a sign-on bonus and great pay. Only thing is, most of them are for Nursing homes and as mean as it sounds, I just don't think I could clean up and elderly person everyday of my life. BUt I have been tossing the thought of going to school for nursing around.
I never went any further than graduating a Vocational-Technical High School. The shop I took did help somewhat but not enough. Luckily enough, for only have a HS Diploma, I have a great job running a small building of Engineers and make very decent money. But in the future that just may not be enough. I would also like to get some business classes under my belt in case I would ever need to job hunt again...but working FT and raising 2 kids is alot harder than people think.

Westcoast, RN can walk into any Hospital have job on the spot :yikes: Ace 07-21-2005, 12:30 PM Any BS/ BA degree, Masters, or doctrite is only as good as you make it. Should I get a phd just for the Dr. after my name/ title? Will a masters really get you further than the other guy? Not necessarily true. I firmly believe in continual education and furthering my education. However there are many people that dont do this or cant afford this yet turn out EXTREMELY successful. Often "street smarts" will get you further than "book smarts". Anyone watch the last apprentis? Kind of proven there, many with no education past high school yet very successful. My old boss (Colonel) got his Ph.D. and I helped him with it. Then he was like, "I need new business cards that read... Name, Col, Ph. D." I was like, "Are you serious?" He said, "Yes, why?" I told him that I thought it was kinda tacky to put that on a business card being in the Army and thought that only doctors or professors should have that. Not him." Needless to say, he got a little pissed off.
I know that degrees do get you somewhat further depending on what the field is. Cause like in the IT industry, they see that many people are getting like the MSCE/CCNA and other certifications but don't know anything when you put them in the situation. But the people who have the on-the-job-experience, know what they are doing so they get hired instead. itgirl25 07-21-2005, 05:42 PM i have a 2 year degree from art school in graphic design. worked 3 years for the local newspaper before giving it up to have children. needless to say, i'm more creative than i am smart. i like it that way though, anybody can memorize stuff. pickle.of.doom 07-21-2005, 06:12 PM i have a 2 year degree from art school in graphic design. worked 3 years for the local newspaper before giving it up to have children. needless to say, i'm more creative than i am smart. i like it that way though, anybody can memorize stuff.

The best advice that I can give you is to think through your decisions. Don't just make a decision at the drop of a hat. Take your time and weigh the pros and cons, and don't lie to yourself about why you want to do something. If you can't be honest with yourself, then you won't get very far in life. Also, make sure that you're doing things to make yourself happy. You can't please everyone, and if YOU aren't happy, then the rest of your life won't work out that well. You need to consider your immediate need to pay bills and how you want to do so, i.e. dead end job, shop rat, garbage man, burger flipper, health as recommended by others, what ever it is. Then consider where you want to go in the future and if your current classes, seminars, work experience, or major contribute to that goal and how it fits into the picture. Don't get to focused to start with and take general classes that will fit into many pictures so you keep your options open so lifes events don't close doors for you or make you take the long way around the block. Also, think about being a life long learner, that means you should always be in some kind of school or training to better yourself even if it is for a hobby. Sometime hobbies turn into successful jobs and businesses.
Here's my long sob story of education and work if you are having trouble sleeping.
I started out after HS playing Army for 5 years, seeing some of those places the Bee mentioned early and learning about life in general. When things didn't match up between mine and Uncle Sams ideas I got into the Reserves and came home with a wife and one kid. I started in community college and taking general classes that would go toward any degree, leaning heavy on a possible engineering degree in the future. I worked all through that full time to pay the bills. It took me 6 yrs to finish the Associate Degree in industrial measurement and calibration (Quality Control). Then over the next 5 years I worked on four different professional certifications in quality, which allowed me to complete on the job market with others in the field with Bachelor and Master Degrees, due to experience and the certifications. I'm just finishing a Bachelor degree in Manufacturing Engineering Technology 20 years after graduating from high school. The 20 year plan is not highly recommended and has at time made things pretty difficult on family. I also just finished 20 years of military service this month with a laundry list of leadership schools that have given me quite a few college credits and finishing as a Sergeant Major.
Hope this helps.

And i agree with TRAVEL. Even if you dont live anywhere differnet, if you go two states away to New Mexico or Utah, you would be amazed at how different ppl are. you head east to Oklahoma, and ppl center their lives around FAMILY... i loved bing there for that reason, they are the nicest, most caring ppl. Make sure you think that one out, thoroughly. It's a rough game out there these days. Much more so than when I started. Your decision will affect others in your family. Don't get me wrong it is just a bigger decision that will affect you for the rest of your life and pssibly affect the length of that life.
IMO get some more education first it will never hurt and can only help no matter what you decide.

Most of the people that I was friends with at Ft. Benning from that area of Georgia were really cool and would stick their necks out for you.
