Grafixx01 07-22-2005, 09:10 PM Watch for Needles While Pumping Gas
Please take a couple minutes to read this warning about Gas Pumping
Handles. Warning: Look at the gas pump handle BEFORE you pump your gas. Please read and forward to anyone you know who drives a car.
My name is Captain Abraham Sands of the Jacksonville, Florida, Police Department. I have been asked by state and local authorities to write this email in order to get the word out to car drivers of a very dangerous prank that is occurring in numerous states. Some person or persons have been affixing hypodermic needles to the underside of gas pump handles! These needles appear to be infected with HIV positive blood. In the Jacksonville area alone, there have been 17 cases of people being stuck by these needles over the past five (5) months. We have verified reports of at least 12 others in various states are! found the country. It is believe! d that these may be copycat incidents due to someone reading about the crimes or seeing them reported on television. At this point no one has been arrested and catching the perpetrator(s) has become our top priority. Shockingly, of the 17 people who where stuck, 8 have tested HIV positive and because of the nature of the disease, the others could test positive in a couple years.
Evidently the consumers go to fill their car with gas, and when picking up the pump handle get stuck with the infected needle.
IT IS IMPERATIVE TO CAREFULLY CHECK THE HANDLE of the gas pump each time you use one. LOOK AT EVERY SURFACE YOUR HAND MAY TOUCH, INCLUDING UNDER THE HANDLE!
If you do find a needle affixed to one, immediately contact your local
police department so they can collect the evidence.
PLEASE HELP US BY MAINTAINING A VIGILANCE, AND BY FORWARDING THIS EMAIL TO ANYONE YOU KNOW WHO DRIVES. THE MORE PEOPLE WHO KNOW OF THIS, THE BETTER PROTECTED WE CAN ALL BE. Rose Lambert, Chief Aide to Supervisor Gerry Hyland, Mount Vernon District, 2511 Parkers Lane, Alexandria, VA 22306.
**The people in this world get sicker and sicker every day
what ever happened to the sweet ole days of just putting a razor blad in an apple on Halloween? All joking aside, this is some sick shiznit. Always have your guard up.
Grafixx01 07-22-2005, 09:39 PM I remember the razor blade in the apple and like glass in the candy on Halloween.
I haven't heard of this needle on the gas pump anywhere but in Florida. Or I should say that it hasn't made it's way out here to Texas yet.
99birdv6 07-22-2005, 09:57 PM I remember this happening a couple of years ago too in Orlando. There were people actually doing this. Its disgusting to see what people do nowadays.
Grafixx01 07-22-2005, 10:02 PM I know. It's like nothing, anywhere is safe anymore. I mean wait until there are cameras like everywhere and you're being video taped doing everything!
bumblebee 07-22-2005, 11:21 PM is it needles now?? I can remember people taping razor blades in gas pump handles. And Ft Lauderdale had a problem once with people taping razor blades under door handles on cars parked in the malls so when you came out to your car and opened the door, you cut 3 fingers at once...some people just have too much time on their hands...they should take up :whore:ing...

Ok, I'm not too sure I'd believe that site.
snakemann 07-23-2005, 12:01 AM This is fake. There was an email forward going around about this 4 or years ago. You can file this with the same forwards about gang members hiding in your back seat or anti persirant giving you breast cancer.
Bottom line is that Police use NCIC to distribute information - not emails.
This may have happened before, but having a somewhat inside track - this is not a valid FL law enforcement issue.
Most gas pumps have a camera recording them - so most would be suspects in this type of a deal would not target gas pumps. :2cents:

So how's everything in Volusia County tonight??? You are going to miss the Sunday road trip to Slidell, La. unless you get back here by 6 am...
Guideon72 07-23-2005, 12:37 AM Trust Snopes, Graff. They've been doing this a LONG time. The story is bunk and it's been floating around in one form or another for a while. Sometimes it's a gas pump, sometimes it's a movie theater seat and sometimes it's pay phones...same old story.
Grafixx01 07-23-2005, 01:16 AM Well, thanks everyone for openin' up the old eyes. I didn't know if it was true, sounded like it could happen but oh well.

I miss my hometown. Pick up a couple of volusia county hoes for me. lol. And you are going to miss a great trip.
drewpy 07-23-2005, 11:00 AM i thought that the one about movie theater was real some on eput needles in the seat, the gas pump was new to me though
snakemann 07-23-2005, 02:30 PM I miss my hometown. Pick up a couple of volusia county hoes for me. lol. And you are going to miss a great trip.

Would you prefer the hose to come from Home Depot or Lowes.
At 228 pm EDST is is raining like crazy in central Volusia County.
Oh and the little puppy can actually swim :yikes:
BTW I just went and got gas and there were no sharp objects on the gas pumps @ the Citgo @ I-95 & S.R. 421 in Port, Orange FL
Grafixx01 07-23-2005, 03:02 PM It may not be true but it does make you think that people could do it.
Now I'm gonna be checking the pumps for that, seats at the movies for the same, car door for razors.
I'm even gonna check the gas station for cameras at the pump. I have seen them inside the stores, but not outside.
Als-Repsol 07-23-2005, 07:49 PM Right up there with the story of the guy meeting a hot girl in a bar
then waking up in a bathtub full of ice and a note saying one of his kidneys had been removed and he should go to a hospital............. what a crock

Um, honestly, that did happen and it happened to a guy in my Command Sergeant Major's unit if you must know. It is not a hoax, it happened at Fort Hood, Texas.
drewpy 07-23-2005, 08:12 PM seriously?
Grafixx01 07-23-2005, 08:14 PM seriously?
Yes, I am serious.
You know the things you hear on the news about the rise of murders along the border but on Mexicos side? Yeah well why do you think that people in the Army must submit paperwork when they go over to Mexico and the Commanding General has to approve it?
Here on Fort Bliss, we are warned to only go on the main strip in Juarez, Mexico cause there have been soldiers that come back severely hurt or they don't come back at all. We don't know if they are killed, but they don't come back so it leaves much to the imagination to think about (killed, AWOLs, etc).
People on Fort Bliss used to be able to live in Mexico (only 5 miles from the entrance to the base) and be in the Army. They did this cause you can like rent a 3000sq ft house for like $500 American a month. Just have to commute and it is not that bad when the U.S. Government is paying for it. So you pretty much live like a king down there.
However, once all the murders started to happen and the disappearances, they said no to that. Stopped it and you have to live in El Paso or on the base.
Homer4598 07-23-2005, 08:21 PM Sorry, don't mean to offend, but I have to ask... Did you, personally, see it, talk to the guy, see the scar, the note, etc.? Not to be a skeptic (they're so easily convinced), but I have a real hard time believing something like that has happened.
jeeps84 07-23-2005, 10:44 PM :iagree: but I wouldn't put it past people of today.
Grafixx01 07-23-2005, 11:50 PM Sorry, don't mean to offend, but I have to ask... Did you, personally, see it, talk to the guy, see the scar, the note, etc.? Not to be a skeptic (they're so easily convinced), but I have a real hard time believing something like that has happened.
I saw the write up that the Military Police did on it. No pictures and the guy got discharged from the Army. My old CSM kept a copy of the write up.
Gas Man 07-24-2005, 11:01 PM It's FAKE! It always has been...there are tons of different twists on the same idea. FAKE FAKE FAKE!!
Grafixx01 07-25-2005, 02:24 AM It's FAKE! It always has been...there are tons of different twists on the same idea. FAKE FAKE FAKE!!
GasMan, no fake. I'd send it to you but I can't get a hold of it. But if you think it's a fake, then you think it's a fake.
Gas Man 07-25-2005, 12:44 PM I have checked this on a few true/false sites and they always tell you it's FAKE! Just as most cops, like Snake, all say it's fake!
Yeah and I also read that people are not supposed to flash their headlights at on coming cars at dusk who do not have their lights on. Apparently its a gang related thing and they will turn around and then come shoot anyone who does flash the lights at them.
:bash: :bash: :bash: just chaulk it up as yet another urban myth. Could it happen? Sure. Has it happened? possibly, but odds are its just someone creating a story to instill fear in people.
NeonSpeedRT 07-25-2005, 01:31 PM I can tell you with pretty good authority it's fake. I live in Jacksonville, FL. There hasn't been anything at all on the news about this. If there were 17 or more cases like that here in Jax it would be all over the news. There hasn't even been one mention at all.
Plus here in Jacksonville, our police dept is actually a sherriffs office. Their technical term is Jacksonvile Sherriffs office or JSO. The guy in the article would have identified himself as being with the JSO and not the Jacksonville police dept.
Here are some of our local news sites if anyone really wants to look around. You won't find anything about this anywhere. I'm sure it's just another urban legend.

NeonSpeedRT 07-25-2005, 01:35 PM Then if you google the "Captain Abraham of the jacksonville, Fl police dept" these are all the results you get:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=Captain+Abraham+Sands+of+the+Jacksonville%2C+Florida%2C+Police+Department&btnG=Google+Search
All of them take you to urban legend pages. :readng:
I say myth busted. :iagree:
