Anybody ever used these on your bike or have an info on them at all? They look sweet, and from what the link says about them, installation seems to be pretty userfriendly. You can get from this site for many other rides as well. http://www.streetracerparts.com/ProductImages/Suzuki/Katana/766.jpg http://www.streetracerparts.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=187

They're not bad, remove dash, remove dash gauge cover, and the new gauges are more like stickers than anything. They actually stick over the stock gauges. You don't remove the needles or anything. But I recommend you leave the peal off sticky cover on, slide the new gauges over/around the needles then peal that off. Otherwise you can't work the new gauge face over the needless w/o it sticking where you don't want it to!! Then all you do is tap it into your dash lights and BANG you got a sweet lookin dash. Another guy in the club did it on his TLR (same company) (attached pic) and they look sweet too!!!

I know there are some that you actually have to move/replace the needle with one that comes with the kit..this seems alot easier and less hassle! O, yeah, they are pretty easy. JUST DON'T FORGET MY COMMENT ON THE "DON'T REMOVE" THE STICKY BACKING COVER. They don't tell you that in the instructions. But the nice thing is that you don't have to make sure to put the needles back in the right place. However, most bikes needles with do a self test up & down, use this to make sure you have the face completely down. When I put mine on the needle was held up at like 110mph so I had to work that down. Hope it helps...

easy to do. The longest part is tearing your bike down. also tap into your third eye for a power source. like said before. do not take off the backing until you slide the gauge over the needle. :2cents: http://suvworld.tenmagazines.com/gallery/rockadaous/98599.jpg http://suvworld.tenmagazines.com/gallery/rockadaous/98603.jpg http://suvworld.tenmagazines.com/gallery/rockadaous/98600.jpg

I have these gauges on my 900RR. I love them. I got the 'reverse' style like Gas Man's. However I didn't know about this thread b4 I sinstalled my gauges. Pulled the backing off b4 I put them on and had a real ****e time geting them installed. Had to pull the needles off to fit them. But all was well, Before I put the needes back, I just turned the ignition on to reset to 0. No problems. I love them!! FOLLOW GAS MANS ADVICE ABOUT THE INSTALL!!!

No, should I have? I drilled a small hole in the back of the gauges, cut the illiumglow gauge wires, fed them through, resoldered them and then sealed up the hole. They're sealed up now just as they were from the factory. Plus I don't ride my bike in the rain, so I don't see water being an issue. Have others had that problem?

:dthumb: I have seen several with moisture build up. Its kept me away from using them. Most likely a problem with installation. That's why dealers do all my work like that. I mean, except like undertails and stuff. That I can do. but if it has anything electrical or like drilling into the frame, well, yeah, dealer here I come!

Gas Man
06-16-2005, 12:12 PM
Yep, see Sime I know a few things... :sorry: you didn't see my suggestion prior. I told these guys that every once and a while I know what I'm talking about. The reversed illumingo is the only way to go. The old ones that are green or all blue just suck. So 2001! Because I put the gauges on the way I did, I never had to pull needles or anything, just slip them around the needles. As far as the wire, I just ran it around the circuit board inthe cluster and out the back with the OE wire hook up. They've been installed for like 2 years and have never had any water issues!

Sime
06-16-2005, 12:21 PM
Well, ya can't know everything before you attempt something. I followed the damn instructions...how was I supposed to know they were wrong? BTW, why won't the manufacturer change the instructions? Yeah, i tried that originally with the wires, but couldn't refit the rubber boot seal around the OEM plug with those three wire sets hanging out the same port. Drilling the cover wasn't bad. I agree that the normal style indiglo gauges are poxy! Besides, they are far too bright. Reverse style is the only way to go IMHO.

Gas Man
06-16-2005, 01:23 PM
Yeah I called the manufacture on it and they said they have heard of my method but haven't included that in their instructions. I don't understand why they just don't tell you to do it my way in the first place...it's so much better. I had the same problem with the wire but nothing a cut and some electrical tape didn't fix!

Sime
06-16-2005, 02:46 PM
Why? Because they are cheap arses are won't spend the money to reprint the instructions on the inside of the box. They figure that if only a few people call up to complain, they're content to (falsely) believe that only a few people really had a problems with their install method. In reality, this is not a customer-centric method of doing business!

Ohhh. Sorry Joshua! Thought you meant my gauges and I couldn't work out what you were talking about. It was a while since I visited the first page of the thread! Yeah, I think that the gauges on the front page are just a limitation of the OEM design/light output of the Kawasaki. That's not a slur on Gas Man's bike by any means, but the Illumiglow gauges don't alter the needle brightness/intensity at all. So if the needes are dim, they were probably like that before the gauges were installed I believe. Then again, if Chris revs his bike, the needles might get a little brighter due to the increased charge from the bike. Hope that explains that. If somebody else has a different theory and/or think that I am full of s-h-y-t-e, please feel free to say so! .....but only if you REALLY mean it!
