I am thinking of getting an R1, but all I ever hear about are GSX-R mods. Who makes good stuff, like: rims/tires brake upgrade swingarm exhaust etc. thanks in advance.

Go with the R1 you won't regret it trust me. There are tons a things you can do to a R1. I myself have a mint 03 Limited Edition R1 that catches eye's everywhere I go including Laconia Bike Week this past june. Even the Harley riders stopped to look at it. I myself love to powder coat my stuff. The mods you can do are endless. Ebay can help you with that and so can Tobefast!!! Good luck and keep the rubber side down!!!! Yamaha for life.. :redmc:

My friend has an R1 and he uses some company off the east coast - gets his parts online.. I will ask him the name - he claims they have the widest variety and best prices. There are TONS of mods you can do to an R1. You have made the right choice - remember R1 = good and GSXR = evil no good. You are on the right track - I will contact Dan the R1 Man and repost the link to the site.

It really depends on what you're looking for. I personally just bought a '02 R1 and already ordered a seat cowl and a smoked windshield from Yamaha. I also ordered a fender eliminator from gravesport.com and I'm contemplating a K&N filter and a velocity stack kit. Modifications are pretty much endless on a bike, as on anything else. It really depends on what you are looking for; looks, increased performance, etc. which will direct you in your modding quest.

I am thinking of getting an R1, but all I ever hear about are GSX-R mods. Who makes good stuff, like: rims/tires brake upgrade swingarm exhaust etc. thanks in advance. Either bike will do... Tires....Michilen Pilot Powers Brakes...Grafler HH sintered, BF Goodrich stainless steel braided lines Swing...yep it will have one, don't squid it out and stretch it out. Anybody can drive a bike in a straight line...they are designed to chase Twisty! Exhaust...Micron,Yosh, Devil, and way too many others...those are my top 3! Upgrade the ECU with a exhaust for more power!! But there is tons of stuff to do there...
