all i can say it WOW And check it out, undertail exhaust makes it to Kawasaki (bout bloody time) Kawasaki’s ZX-6R has been a strong performer for the brand over more than a decade now. The model scored a complete redesign in 2003 and for 2005 the green brigade are again coming out in force with a heavily revised ZX-6R and ZX-6RR. The most obvious change is the move to bodywork resembling that of the ZX-10R. But Kawasaki are claiming aerodynamic improvements with the updated styling and state that the new machine is the most aerodynamically efficient motorcycle they have ever made. Kawasaki have also followed the trend of fitting an underseat muffler to their supersport machine. In the engine room Kawasaki engineers have also been working hard with a new cylinder block and head. New oval shaped 38mm throttle bodies feature two injectors per cylinder and Kawasaki claim their new shape throttle bodies free up room while also increasing airflow. In the new cylinder head reside larger intake and exhaust valves which are actuated by new camshafts. The limited production ZX-6RR race machine scores revised intake ports which are polished by the factory and combine with a new combustion chamber design and larger exhaust valves. New pistons swing off a new crankshaft which features larger main journals. A thicker crankcase design has followed Suzuki’s lead with breathing passages milled in to their design to help realise lower crankcase pressures. Other detail changes include revised mountings for the oil filter and new aluminium oil cooler. The oil pump drive ratio has been revised and now draws from a deeper sump. The gearbox has also come in for attention on both models with stronger internals. The ZX-6R scores a taller third gear while the track destined ZX-6RR now ships with ratios similar to that only seen before in the racing kit gearbox. Both models feature an upgraded engine management system to control the second set of injectors and also to actuate the new back pressure valve in the exhaust system. Both are equipped with a back torque limiting wet clutch. The new matt black aluminium frame offers a shortened wheelbase with a longer braced aluminium swingarm now pivoting further forward in the machine which now rolls on a slightly reduced wheelbase. Showa supply the fully adjustable rear shock while a revised Uni-Trak linkage promises to provide a more linear transition through the stroke of the rear suspension. The 41mm upside-down forks score a trick new surface coating to reduce stiction. On the race inspired ZX-6RR this coating is also applied to internal surfaces of the sliders. We have seen the radially mounted brake calipers before on this model while the disc rotors have now grown to 300mm in diameter and are of the trick new petal design normally only seen on race bikes. The front master cylinder has also been improved which will be a great relief to racers loyal to the Kawasaki brand. The rear disc now mounts directly on the swingarm. The previous machines had three-spoke wheels but the new machine arrives with six-spoke rims shod with a 120/65ZR17 at the front and 180/55ZR17 at the rear. Ergonomics have also changed with the bar to footpeg distance reduced to closely resemble the performance based riding position seen on the ZX-10R open class superbike. The undertail is cool on bikes . Kawasaki has some studly stuff . I'm not brand loyal though . I see good qualities throughout most of the various brand lines in certain models . Thanks for the post . :)

That bike and Kaw rocks. I've been a long time Kaw fan and I'm glad to see them making these huge leaps and bounds in the sportbike scene. Your right Shan, pretty soon it will be like, "do you remember when they use to hang the cans out here under the passenger foot, that was so lame." And we'll all laugh....

Looks great. Only thing i dont like in the pics is the round rear. I will have to see it in person. Love how far Kawasaki has come in the last few years.

oooooo yeah, this bike is sweet!!! It doesnt seem to flow in quite as much of an egdy way, so to speak, than the other newer ninja's Kaw. is coming out with, and that rounded shape rear is kinda hard to judge in those pics, but still, she's definately a beast. I'll have to check one out soon :yesnod: wonder who Kawa hired in the front office to get them back into the heat of the battle. whoever it is, is doing a helluva job.

Ya know, Matt, I was thinking the same thing. Kaw got pretty bad there for a while when the GSXR was blowing up the scene. Then all at once, Kaw was bangin out new bikes with top notch specs. I was like WTF but I was lovin it at the same time, being a die hard Kaw fan. Not to mention, for Twisty what he says, is saying alot. He's been bangin on my 9R forever. Even after the dyno shoot out last year when I did quite well for the ole girl! He's a tough critic to impress...:lol:

those wave rotors are definately an eye catcher....everything about this bike seems to get more impressive everytime you look at it..except that shovel on the back. :puke: :lol: the more rounded back end, that I didnt like so much at first is startin to grow on me.. :thumbs: when you look at bikes like this, it just makes me wonder all the more how anybody could ride anything other than sportbikes! It's lean, mean, beast machine! :redmc:

THATS MY NEXT BIKE! THATS MY NEXT BIKE! oh kawasaki you done did it now... its lean, mean, and they smoothed out the body. I actually like the tail, everyone else has moved to the 'razor edge' in styling, kawi almost did with the last ZX6, glad they stepped it back.

I wanna know where u find a left over ZX6R or RR.... The dealers in N nevada and Nor cal were sold out of 04's by July of 04./.. my friend got the last one north of Sacremento in mid-July. There will not be a 05 left over unless Kawis jacks price sicne itll still sell em. Your gonna have to go used to pic on up after Aug or Sept 05.

and here i am ONE of the true supporters of Kawi along with GAS and a few others. the bike rocks, i have everything you need and more. stock it has showa suspension, upgrade form KYB. better aerodynamics form last year, better brakes adn most of all the new slipper clutch, no more tire sliding around when you drop 2 gears. the only thing i dont like is the fat arse on that thing. i love the sharp edges and lines of the 03-04, but i will just have to get use to this. but if i could put my plastic on that bike then that would rock. they are really stepping it up in the 600cc class of bikes as far as production.

as far as buying a new bike right now, the zx6r is you best bike to get, no other 600cc bike has all the stuff that the zx has.

i think it is a future upgrade for me i like that bike ....either that or a gixxer 750.....but that is proly years away

Actually the '04 ZX-6R beat a few track time records..Twisty knows which ones! And like 636 said... the suspension and motor ROCK! A totally awesome bike!! Almost too much for a newbie!

I foresee ridding with one in the near future. A current Kat owner is looking hard at one. Ill get to ride and then give a real review. Im sure it being a Kaw will be my primary complaint. :dthumb:

oh oh welcome, well i must say you have great choice in motor vehicles, the 2 greatest vehicles made, the zx636 and an 04 cobra. Notice i have a zx636 and a 91 mustang gt. Please post some pics of the car.

very nice and very clean, got anything done to it? well i was gonna ask that until i read the picture

It is now making closer to 470-475 to the rear in HP because I had the timing retarded heavily on that pull because. It was set at 17 degrees at WOT, but now it is at about 22 degrees which is where it needs to be. And the tune is on the concervative side.

I'm not a big Stang fan but the Cobra is Sweet. :dthumb:

Thanks. Now if I can just figure out a way to put as much effort into my bike I will be all set. I think that I am leaning towards the Two Brothers exhaust. But I am having trouble finding a fender eliminator. Most sites that I frequent don't have one for the '05 model, and those that do I just don't like. Any ideas?

I liked the Titanium finish myself, and I almost walked out the door with one. But after seeing the finish in person I remembered how much I like to polish on my toys and get them to really shine. But other than that it is one hell of a color. :dthumb:
