since i have some cash built up (roughly 6000$) im almost 16 yrs old and i want to get into stunting a street bike, if you dont know my background i race motocross in the 250 A class or commonly refered to as local Pro on my 2005 yz450f. im looking to buy a used bike preferbally a liter bike and i want it to be very common bike for replacement parts and such, as to my dropping it a lot, i know ill need frame slides and all that but whats a good bike... something like a 2001 cbr 954rr or a gsxr 600 04' mostly wheeling and doing stoppies not the 180mph runs. maby a 150 or so but no more than that. whats the weight on a bike, the both of them, does light weight make that much difference?

If you are looking for a bike that you can find parts a dime a dozen...go with a GSX-R.

im no pro, but i dont think a 600 will give you what you want. Too much work. I say 750 because its just as light with more power.

Don't bother with getting a good bike and stunt it. Too much money wasted. Go to stuntlife.com and look for a stuntbike there. Most stunt bike won't be able to go past 120 with the gearing they run. plus you'll have to be extreme careful when riding on the street since one little crack of the throttle will loop it.

u dont need an powerful motor to stunt.......LARGE REAR SPROCKET is all u need.. a 50 HP bike with a 60 tooth rear sprokcket will wheelie VERY EASILY And yes put a crash cage on it.... And if u want a street bike too, get a 600... u get a Zx10R or a new GSX-R 1000 and u will have ASStronomical insurance rates at 16.... even with the 600s rate being big. Plus your gonna kill yourself on a new liter bike. Get the stunt bike for cheap, deck it out right to stunt... Stunt it for a while, then buy the street bike after u learn some skills on the stunt and take time to learn to corner right on it.

yeah, but i think its stupid that i allways get a lot of crap that a liter bike will put me on my ass, i think that a big load of :wbs: . considering i race a 60hp 450cc pretty much works motor yz450f dirtbike or dirt, letalone street, the power to weight ratio on my 450 is better than probally a literbike

ScottSellersUNR

youve got another thing comming if u think the power of a worked over YZF450 will come CLOSE to even touching a 160HP at the wheels bike that weights 100lbs more and has 100 more HP..... 0-60 in 2 seconds doesnt happen by just pinning the throttle.. it takes a pro to do it.... The 600's will also wheelie VERY EASILY...... the Zx10 will put u on your ass in the first two gears at any speed.... the new bikes that do 100mph in first will not be the way to go... id be willing to bet a paycheck that if i started on one i wouldnt be typing today... nor would most of the guys here. Theyll Verify for that... and if u wanna ask someone in your shoes.. listen to Bull... he was looking at a way more powerful bike when we told him to check the Sv650.... im sure hes glad he idnt get a more powerful one now, and he gave us all the " im mature and wont F it up" speech too.

I give up trying to tell anybody what they should or should not start on. Regardless of their experience. Now if they ask, I just give my opinion and that's it. Most have already made their mind up before asking any way. So for the record my recommendation is to find a used 600cc or less to learn on. After you get very very comfortable with that. Get what ever your heart and wallet can afford. :2cents:

Waht do u say 20$ lol If i knew em personally id be able to make the bet since id be able ot see the bike, cuz he ownt tell us when he does it. On that note.. i rode with a 17 yo guy on a GSXR750 the other night.. he was riing stand up wheelies in traffic for almost a mile at a time... when he gets caught ( not if but when) they will take his license till 18 and sell the bike at auction.. lien on it or not. binder929rr

onlything they gave me was a quote double the price of progressive then you need to re-evaluate. progressive wanted over 3 grand a year to insure my bike....i pay 752$ full coverage a year for my 05 636 through state farm. progressive was almost triple on every vehicle i had when i thought about switching. i didn't do it over the net either, actually went and sat down with a person and got my rates that way.....screw progressive. and you don't need a 750 to stunt....600's work fine. it's not a power issue. when a bike is balanced the power isn't holding it up.....so really there isn't any more power involved other than getting it up there and it just takes a little skill to do that. you can blame it on gearing, but i know that's not the case because i do the same stuff on my completely stock 636 that i do on my f4i stuntbike.

im 20 yrs old and i know that the liter bikes are very appealing to young people who for the most part lack the experience to handle one. i have a R1 and i love the bike but i regret not getting a 600 or 750 to start, i jumped from a 1100 cruiser to my liter bike and the change was scary to say the least and i am very lucky to still be alive. it sounds like you have alot of experience in the dirt which is good but the power of a 1000 is too much for alot of experience riders to handle let alone a young person like you. from my personal experience i would suggest starting with a 600 because they are fast enough anyway and work up to the larger bikes if you feel the need too that way you have time to hone your skill on the street.
