gtowntt 10-20-2005, 01:26 PM I was reading the last post about this bike, and still no price was listed or torque. Well I might be a little late, but I picked up a motor cyclist magazine the other day, and it has a nice write up about the 675. To answer a few questions, that I didn't see answered are the price in the US will be sub-$9000, and below 11,000 euros in Europe. They are also set to make 32,000 of those bikes, then boost that number up to 38,000. 53ft.lbs. of torque @11,750 rpm. It should also top out at more than 160. The dude writing it up said that the bike was real comfortable and stable at high speeds. Anybody else got any updates?

read the same mag :readng: was also interested in seeing what other people heard about it. They also slimmed up the bike a lot. Their frame seems innovative, reducing the weight by 5.5lbs. Thats all I remember from it
jeeps84 10-25-2005, 12:04 AM The Daytona is adequate on the track and gets the job done on the street. You can even ride it on one wheel if you so choose.

Ive been reading the UK mags about this bike. RIDE did a quick comparo with a 600RR and ZX6R, with the 675 coming out as the better handling, more powerful, and lighter feeling bike.
ScottSellersUNR 10-29-2005, 05:19 PM Triumph is really rising tofight with the best in the 600 something class now since theyve got the top spot in the Streetfighter open class already. Plus the Speed four was just voted best sport for the money period at 6000 something bones for the traditional 4 cyl 600 form them. Props to Triumph, seems they wanna make it "the big five" now.
JK_DILLA 10-29-2005, 07:02 PM Triumph is being smart now. They dont have the years of R&D like the japenese do to make and tweak I4's like they do. But they have plenty on Triples. Using the rules for supersport racing, and taking the displacement bump allowed for a difrent configs. (alah ducati 749) They can compete on their terms. And from the "first rides" i read, they have done a good job, and a plaform to update periodically. Im starting to seriously look at these now.

? can someone fill me in on the diff regs and such for i4's and trips? i am in the dark...thanks :sorry:
ScottSellersUNR 10-29-2005, 11:44 PM They certianly are a bike ot look at if u love performance.. many ppl will say "oh piss on their triples" but that takes a arrogant naive person, they performe with the best when they put out a new model and theyve proven themselves to be reliable. Their suspension is also top quality, i know theyve got me considering new options for my next bike, may be the new 1050cc triple if they get it in a SS bike i like.
snadamo 10-30-2005, 11:12 PM definitely one of the bikes to look at on '06. Everybody is making noise about thr new R6, I hope this bike isint overshadowed by that. If I was in the market, I'd be looking at this bike for sure :yesnod:
jeeps84 10-30-2005, 11:23 PM This bike may actually be a contender in the modern market. If and when they come out with an American release liter bike. I will definitely consider one.
JK_DILLA 10-31-2005, 01:43 AM just read the article in motor cycle magazine. Very cool. Internal water pump. (for when the motor goes naked ) Motor is 2in narrower than the Day-650, and the frame its self is 4.3 narrower. Could fit inside the old one.
Mag said it makes 123 bhp. That equals 200bhp pre liter. hmmmmmm, a 1000 would be very nice.
Gas Man 10-31-2005, 06:55 AM If I was Mr.Yamaha I don't think I would be too worried about the Triumph unvailing.
While I would consider both bikes on the same playing field.... I think you'll find most of the riders, especially the younger ones, won't even think twice... they'll get the R6 just out of popularity!
ScottSellersUNR 10-31-2005, 01:38 PM the younger ones..... which means half the R6 will be wrecked and out in 6 weeks and the triumph still riding, and taking the young rider who didnt wreck to School on their 17,500 rev limit.
Gas Man 10-31-2005, 04:05 PM Too true & sad!
Never Bored 01-29-2006, 11:36 PM I was reading the last post about this bike, and still no price was listed or torque. The 675 was on "tour" and at my local Triumph dealer yesterday. I got to eyeball a 675 dressed up in red, up close & personal and stradle it. Looks wise, it didn't really knock me out, but of course, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It's got a clean, contemporary design.
For sportbike reference, I'm presently on an '05 Duc 999, but recently checed out ALL of the 600/1000 I4 bikes @ the Int'l Bike Show, as a friend was shopping hard for a 600cc bike. I'm 5'9" w/ a 33 sleeve lenght and 32" inseam.
On the 675, the cockpit felt compact. The bars are closer in vs. a GSXR or CBRR. Those w/ short arms or upper bodies will probably like it. I'm used to being stretched out on the 999.
The rear seat height is high, even the Sales Mgr. @ the dealer said that is has a "stink bug" feel. However, they said that with the rear link set up, the rear height could easily be adjusted / lowered.
Partly as a result of the high seat height, the bike felt like it had a high(er) CG than most of the 600 I4 bikes out there. I thought the Kawi 636 had a lower feeling CG, which I personally liked.
Not having read any reviews or tech articles, I was somewhat surprised to see a clutch cable vs. hydro, but I guess that comes with the territory. It looks like the clutch basket is mounted somewhat higher than other bikes.
The dealer said that they are getting MSRP, right about $9k ($8,999 I guess) They said that they had already sold 8 and 2 customers wanted to pay $2,500 more just to be moved up in priority on their list. I asked if they could start it up, but they said Triumph delivered the bike for the "show" and took the key. Triumph did start it up for the boys @ the shop when it was delivered and the owner told me that it sounded pretty damn good. It should definitely have it's own voice when it's wrung out!
If it means anything, the owner of this shop has been in the motorcycle industry for 30 years, and he ordered 1 for himself.
That's about all I can offer from just eyeballing the bike and throwing a leg over it.

Thanks for your POV on the 675.
Many of us are waiting to see and through a leg over one.:tt:
marko138 01-30-2006, 06:26 AM I love the look of this bike...which I have said many times over:drool: .
ebbs15 01-30-2006, 11:31 AM when they first were revealed... I called the Portland Triumph dealer... and asked about them... they said they'd be taking orders till Dec... and that's it... they also wanted 1500 down! no way i'm researving a bike with a 1500 non refundable deposit... when it's a first gen... and I can't ride one... just my:2cents: though...
looks like it's gonna be a sweet one though:drool:
jeeps84 01-30-2006, 12:23 PM Its got a lot to do with your area.
My dealer takes pre-orders on all bikes but only requires pre-approved contract with our with out deposit.

Not bad for a pricey bike.

yeah I was supprised at that when he told me a $250 deposit. Apparetly this dealer is only making about $500-$800 on this bike.
