marko138 10-24-2005, 05:48 AM I hate deer. One of these bastards decided to run out in front of me this morning on RT. 322 here in Harrisburg on my way to work. :cursin: And this sucker was a big fugging deer. :damn: He caught my passenger side front corner. Smashed my grill, my turnsignal, and pushed my bumper back a few inches.
Obviously this could have been much worse, but that doesn't make me feel much better about the situation. I'm debating calling my insurance. I dont know how much my deductable is but it's certainly more than I want to pay at this point. :cursin: Goddammit. I'm so pissed off.
And to make things worse, it's monday and I was a mile from my exit. F*CK! :bash:
JEKYLL 10-24-2005, 05:56 AM Yea,me too,we get alot of them here too. I live right near "fairmount Park" and the park intertwines alot of areas, they've had "culling" going on for years now,at certain times of the year, but still you really gotta watch for 'em!
marko138 10-24-2005, 05:58 AM This was the last thing I expected to see at 65 mph on a major hi-way, right outside the city.
JEKYLL 10-24-2005, 06:09 AM We're right outside the city too,Philly, and like I said, the park even intertwines the downtown area,I've seen them walking around city streets,I used to work very early in the morn and I've seen them in the strangest places,I'd be drivin along and somthin catch your eye,I'd look and be like...Waaaa???
Gas Man 10-24-2005, 07:47 AM Its not a big deal... its not a collision deductable... its a comp... "act of god" most comp deducts are $100 or usually not more than $200. Which can easily be soaked into your claim by the shop. Furthermore, it is shown as a "not your fault" incident. Just claim it! :2cents:
Oh, and that sucks too! :cursin:
snadamo 10-24-2005, 10:11 AM sounds like it hit your car? Better 4 wheels than 2. would have been much worse. :luck: with all that
Als-Repsol 10-24-2005, 10:13 AM What kind of bike has a grill and a bumper ? one of the big Harley things ??
i pity the poor deer :yikes:

pobrediablo 10-24-2005, 10:21 AM  Yo :sorry: to hear that but it could have been worse :luck: with the repair I hope it doesn't hurt your pocket too much
fatburg 10-24-2005, 10:49 AM I have been lucky enough to avoid the little critters so far. sorry to hear about your accident.

Not so fast there...hitting a deer costs more than you realize...If you claim it on your insurance, your car will get fixed, but the report will hang with your car and you will get hit with "diminished value" when you go to sell or trade your car. When M hit the deer back on Valentine's day coming home from work...we got the car fixed, you could not tell it had been hit, but when the dealer ran the "car fax" or whatever company they used, the report came up and we lost 2500 bucks trade in for the "diminished Value". Every dealer we spoke to before we bought the new car in August, told us the same thing. If you report it, it will cost you...
This diminished value BS is almost as good a scam as that "gap" insurance.
R1up0n1 10-24-2005, 12:15 PM D@mn Marko...that sucks..which part of 322? lets see some pics of the damage!
:nopicsbs:
itgirl25 10-24-2005, 01:37 PM boy, you must have a black cloud over you. first the problems with your bike, now the deer. good luck shakin' off this bad karma.
jeeps84 10-24-2005, 02:13 PM Its getting cooler and that's when the deer star running crazy. Everybody that lives where deer are in large quantizes should be careful.
I watch the shoulder almost as much as I watch the road in the dusk and down hours. They don't seem to be as bad to run out after dark.
Bandit 6S 10-24-2005, 08:04 PM Yeah, watch out here in PA. The hunters are starting to move them around and they are coming into rut. This time of year the deer act like a bunch of horny teenagers. Saw an article in the paper where a buck smashed through the front window of a grocery store in Reading and ran around for an hour before they tranquilized him. Clean-up, ilse 13!

It doesn't always show up on Carfax. My wife had a deer commit suicide into our '91 Park Ave 2 years ago. Smashed grill and just bent the front of the hood down an inch. $2500 worth of damage. State Farm came out and looked at it and said " classic deer accident". I had the deer hair from the car saved ( to prove it was a deer ) but they didn't want to see it. Cut me a check on the spot and we got it fixed.
I ran a carfax before I sold the car two months ago and it didn't show up. Here's the info if you want to do it yourself
'91 Buick Park Ave
VIN 1G4CW53LXM1605282
Glad to hear you're OK. If the deer would have come up over the hood it could have been tragically different :angelhap:

Gas Man 10-24-2005, 09:27 PM I'm with ya 73... screw that and get it fixed via insurance! Most people don't do that carfaxcra*ola!

I have to disagree. Most car dealers use it for a selling point if its good. If its not. They will dodge the subject.

Gas Man 10-24-2005, 10:55 PM Yeah car fax sucks!
R1up0n1 10-24-2005, 11:06 PM Yeah car fax sucks!
One of my best friends is a supervisor and a vehicle inspector...I am going to post up what he says about car fax...and some of this relates to me, as you will be able to tell.
ME: hey what was crooked about CarFax?
Friend: huh
ME: car fax....i remember you saying something isn't accurate about it or something
Friend: wrecks dont get put on it and ****
Friend: i had to go to Toyota South today In Richmond Ky because they had a Astro Van that had The roof replaced and both 1/4 panels replaced and the car fax report said it was a clean Van!
Friend: just like your toyota you bought it had a clean car fax report and the whole F-n pass. said was replaced
me: oh and my accord
Friend: those are two major Wrecks and they were not on there
Friend: yeah just like that
Friend: My Work Quit using Car Fax because of how bad it was wrong
Me: f'n A
Me: is there another service out there
Friend: yeah
Me: do you guys use it
Friend: there are two other ones my work uses
Friend: I will get the names of them tomorrow for you
Me: sweet!!
Friend: i know one is auto check
Me: thats the only one i can remember
jeeps84 10-24-2005, 11:25 PM This is probably the difference in paying out of pocket vs. insurance.
Strange thing is. I sold a total loss bike that I totaled, claimed on insurance, retained salvage and repaired. Then sold at rebuilt value in state. The buyer new all about it. When he got the title. It was clean. No S or R on the ID. We both did a carfax and it said it was clean also. WTF I'm pizzed :cursin: because I could have gotten much more $$$$. He is happy.
I asked a friend at DMV. He asked if I checked the damage box when I sold the bike. I did. :dthumb: Then he said they screwed up. If it came back clean, its considered clean. :skep:
marko138 10-25-2005, 06:22 AM Thanks for the concern everyone. Some people here at work asked me if I was on the bike too. Thank god I wasn't...I probly wouldn't have made it to work. This was one big ass deer.
The insurance adjuster is coming out to my 'residence' (as they put it) when I get off work to 'assess the damage'. I can't wait for that. I'm hearing (not from them) that this should cost me between $50 and $100 bucks for the deductable.
SV...I was heading east from the Perry county area towards the city...I hit this bastard just past the Rockville/Front St. exit about a mile before the Linglestown Rd. Exit, which is where I was getting off to go to work.
I'll post some pics in the next day or so.
marko138 10-25-2005, 06:24 AM boy, you must have a black cloud over you. first the problems with your bike, now the deer. good luck shakin' off this bad karma.
Seriously. In fact, that bike is STILL leaking oil, even after the pan change...I also aquired an exhaust leak. I shoulda just paid someone to do the work. So, I haven't ridden that bike in well over a month. I hate it.

You have all winter to get the bike squared away. I hope you have another cage to use while the shop takes twice as long as it should to repair yours. :luck:

Herein lies the other problem brother. Thats a big negative on that. But, hey, what are relatives for? :angelhap:
Gas Man 10-25-2005, 12:21 PM Yeah screw car fax... its crap!
That is just crazy Jeeps!

Well the insurance adjuster came by yesterday afternoon. This is gonna cost me $500 for the deductable. I'm hoping to have this sucker in the shop by friday so we can get the wheels turning on the repair.
Gas Man 10-26-2005, 09:34 AM Is your comp deductable $500? If not go tell that insurance agent to go F himself. Hitting a deer is not a collision claim!!!

This is a good question....I'm gonna take a closer look at the policy.
marko138 10-26-2005, 10:01 AM Upon further review the ruling on the field stands.
My comp. coverage does have a 5 bill deductable...and so does my collision, just for the record. So, comp or collision, it's costing me 5 benjamins.
Gas Man 10-26-2005, 10:13 AM WOW!! I have never seen a $500 comp deduct! That sucks!!
Well at least it won't go down as a bad notch on your insurance record.
I would look into lowering that deduct though...its the same one you use for your windshield replacement and vandalism, ect...

Not mine. I have $1k deductible on both comprehensive and collision. It keeps my rates low...
Gas Man 10-26-2005, 03:04 PM :yikes: $1k!! :yikes:
No thanks! That's WAY too much for my taste!
rworkman98 10-26-2005, 03:22 PM :yikes: $1k!! :yikes:

I just hope I don't get into an accident. I figure if I'm in a serious accident, $1k will be the least of my worries.
Gas Man 10-26-2005, 03:40 PM It also ensures that I doubt you will make any small claims on the insurance...
rworkman98 10-26-2005, 06:10 PM It also ensures that I doubt you will make any small claims on the insurance...
I never have. If it's less than $2500 out-of-pocket, I'll just pay it. That way, my insurance won't go up.
marko138 10-27-2005, 06:03 AM Deer are ********s man. I had another one run across the road in front of me this morning AGAIN. But, luckily, I didn't hit it this time. Then about 10 minutes later I saw one standing on the side of the road...but he stayed put.
:cursin: Deer. They are out in full force right now.
Gas Man 10-27-2005, 09:21 AM Earlier in the year (about June), I had the bike loaded in the truck with all my gear... driving down to pickup the other guys and head to the GAP. I wasn't 5 mins into the trip down the highway.... and a deer jumped out in front of my truck... I slammed on the stoppers, hit the horn, and swerved away from him.... missed him by only about 6 inchs and he turned around... then about 30 mins later I seen 3 of them on the side of the h/w...but none of them moved..... thank god....
After the first occurance, I got out checked the bike and gear in the back and my heart rate! :yikes:
marko138 10-27-2005, 10:25 AM This is evidence that these bastard creatures are everywhere and are out to get us. Conspiracy I tell you.
Gas Man 10-27-2005, 12:00 PM Have you ever heard the conspiracy comic song about the animal conspiracy?
jeeps84 10-27-2005, 12:16 PM Have you ever heard the conspiracy comic song about the animal conspiracy?

Gas Man 10-27-2005, 03:08 PM I don't have a link... it was either on Bob & Tom or Drew & Mike out of Detroit...
