Overheard on another forum - guy was driving a stock Corvette Z06, is this possible?:
First let me start by saying that i usually race from a 30 mph and a 60 mph roll. This bike is defintley faster and quicker than me from bothh of these rolls. BUT we had a few runs from differnet speeds different gears and here are the results.
1st run from 30 mph roll.... results everyone knows what shouldve happened... and it did happen... major spanking
2nd run from a 105 mph in fourth gear while he was in third gear... i pulled him by about a car when he came behind me and started following the vacum i leave which is a big advantage and he just stayed behimd me the whole time until we slowed down.
3rd run from 80 mph. we were side by side the whole time but i was on the longer side of a curvey road.
The guy was defintley a good rider... not the best but not some stupid ass that doesnt konw how to ride. i think the resuls are fair and reflect the true speed ranges of each beast. a bike doesnt like a race from 75+ mph and i dont want to even try racing it from a lower speed becuase itll just murder me. It also proves something i said a few times before in a differnet post. Bikes hit a wall when at higher speeds. I think i should get some nitrous and try racing him from 50 mph.

stevnmd 10-14-2004, 09:21 PM LOL He'd actually be able to take a lot of bikes at high-speed roll-ons... At least he's got a 400 hp car so he had a SMALL chance of making it close...
What cracks me up is these morons in their Civics with fart cans who want to race. Umm, like I'd waste my time racing some pimple faced kid in a car. Not to mention the fact that I'm not about to ride like a freaking squid anyway.

:withstupi Thank you! See my post about the construction worker egging me on to do a wheelie. :smash:
954mix 08-27-2005, 10:14 PM this guy must not know how to ride a damn 954...Because while my 954 isnt stock i just raced a guy last night in a pro street trans am with a 150 shot of nos and 600 rear wheel horsepower and drag radials...Off the line close in 1st gear because of the drag radials by the time i hit 2nd i pull in front of him and just went in his lane..then went on the free way at 95mph in 3rd gear him in 3rd and abosolutely annihilated the guy it was a waste of my time but also not a waste of his $200 i won...He was all pumped up cuz he just raced a '01 gsxr 750 on the freeway and he said he killed him so we lined up and my 954 stood strong again...god i love this bike...
No Worries 08-27-2005, 11:00 PM To race against a car at 105 MPH around my area I'd have to go half way to Kansas at 3am. I won't do it because it's past my bedtime and the Kansas thing. I'll just have to put up with blowing the doors off cars at stoplights.
GixxerNHemi 04-26-2006, 09:46 PM actually....the vette owner is not lying.
the dude in the 4ht or 5th post with the 954 winning against a 600hp car IS!
over 80mph...a Z06 stock or lightly modded - 405-450hp...CAN beat a 600cc supersport and ESPECIALLY a v-twin 954 with only 135hp (crank) that is a HEAVY ass bike on top of it!
I lost BADDDD to my friends 600hp Z06 (2003) two weeks ago from a 30mph roll....we were side by side to about 90-100mph (while he was smoking the tires)...and by 110ish...he PULLED away pretty hard.
could i beat him from 0-100mph....yes......from 60mph on up...HELL NO!
it is VERY believable for 400-500hp cars (esp light cars such as a Z06 with nice gearing)...to beat 600s and v-twin bikes such as ducatis and 954s....at anything over 60mph up over 100mph.
heck....whoever said their 954 KILLED a 600hp trans-am....stop bull****ting....either you lost bad...never raced....or he doesnt have 600rwhp.
heck...my friends Z06 with 600rwhp can hang with cbr 900s and some 1000s at speeds over 80mph. (pointless for him to race below 50mph because his wheels just blow away)....not to mention he has that 100 shot left over for a busa or whatever!
BTW....his Z06 is good for a 10.5 @ 133mph pass without the juice!....so as you can see...very easy to hang with a 600cc supersport and beat it up at higher speeds....and MOST DEF. beat on a 954!
Draven 04-26-2006, 10:49 PM Also depends on the year ZO6. It's it's one of the new ones, even stock, it's 470-505 rwhp, and quarters of 11.5. They're fast cars. : )

well....Z06s were only reintroduced in 2001 with 385 hp and runs of around 12.4-12.5
in 2002-2004 they were 405hp with runs of anywhere between 12.0-12.4 depending on driver.
NOW....they have 505hp and so far it appears the average is around 11.7-11.9 @ 125-128mph!!!!!! NICE TRAPS!!!!!
i doubt the NEW Z06s are going to sell like the 01-04s because they jacked the price up by about 16-18k if you can find one without a premium......the market for vettes is between 45-55k NOT 70k.....people will still buy them...no doubt...i would in a heart beat.....BUT....70-80k is the range of people that want german cars such as the M3,M5,911...etc....not an american car (even tho its worth every penny)
mitch_1100xx 05-17-2006, 04:47 PM no not possable at all tell him to find me i just got a 954 and my dad has a 500 hp c5 and the bike is still a little faster. no way in hell is it possable for a stock z06.
ok you know what on second though we need to know more, what year vette cuz that is a big issue. 2001 when the came out it was 385, 2002 ot was 405, and the new is 500+. also we need to know if it was a highway roll on or off the line. assuming it was a 2001-2004 off the line, or maybe highway as well, there is no way in hell the vette would win. however the new z06 is somthing else. keep in mind, the c5 which they claim had 365-370 (stick shift) on the dyno put out 300 flat on the rear wheels (have dyno papers). the zo6 puts out about 315-320 from what i have heard. the new z06 on the dyno rwhp i would guess sits at about 425-450.
and is th 954 a twin?? i think its inline 4 is it not? ............... i just looked my 03 954 RR has 4 stacks im pretty sure it is inline 4.
keep in mind manufacturer #s are never dyno #s and dyno #s are what to look at.
dont get me wrong i love vettes to death, i just dont know about a stock zo6 beating a 954, its not probable.
Gas Man 05-17-2006, 10:45 PM 954 = inline 4

a little off on your dyno # thoughts...
stock C5 vettes (ls1 engine 345hp-350hp).....typically dyno at 300-310 at the rear wheels...
2002-2004 Z06s (405hp) typically dyno around 350-360rwhp. (my buddies 03 hit 355ish STOCK..a few years ago.....now its about double that!! lol
2006 Z06....more like 460-470 at the wheel.....with headers and intake and a simple tune they are making 495-500rwhp.
99birdv6 05-18-2006, 08:43 PM Who cares, cars suck. Ive had my plenty of cars, and i actually owned a c5 Vette that was modded. I dont care how fast a car can go in a straight line, there is no feeling like the feeling of a sportbike.

GixxerNHemi 05-18-2006, 09:11 PM actually...its pretty nice going 160mph with the top down/music blaring in my M3.
its also a rush going 180mph in Z06 while blowing 600s and 750s AWAY!...lol
u gotta admit....yea bikes are ALOT of fun...but how comfortable is it to be all cramped up on a little bike doing 170mph???? esp when a black 600rwhp(700rwhp) vette rolls up on a ya with the music going and all relaxed in their seat!!!? ha
not to mention....i believe the lambo gallardo outhandled a ducati 999 on a 2 mile track in that top gear video....so bikes arent the only thing that can run in all directions....gotta have an open mind.
everything has its own fun factor.
cant really compare to the two.

basically it boils down to the a**hole theory again, like every thread eventually does...you know how it goes: "opinions are like a**holes, everyone has one..."

I've gone ~150 mph on a vette. the sound of the wind drowns out the radio.
the front end gets very light and starts to drift. it's abit scary to think about going ~170 mph on it.
On the other hand, I am confident to say that i've gone at least 170 mph on a motorcycle on more than one occasion. It was at road atlanta, the tach peaked at redline on 6th gear on a superbike spec zx7. Life gets really exciting at warp speed on a bike. You can still hear the sound of the pipes screaming at full lung capacity while the wind is trying it's best to rip the bike apart. The world distorts into a central cone. it's an adreline high that makes you want to go even faster. talking about comfort. comfort? is that even a consideration? you are way beyond the comfort zone...
dude, this is like explaining sex to a virgin. Worm-holing a bike is indescribable.

Its all good and fun, but when I am 25 yrs old riding a Vette, I dont want all the women in town thinking I have a small weenie because I drive a Vette.
And BTW, I have the Video of the Gallargo and Ducati and the ducati wins by less than half a second. Thats sad for a car that costs 5 times as much. Alos, you can tell the biker had a lot more fun when everytime he came out the corner he gives it gas and that front wheel comes up from all the power.
Like the first scene of the movie Torque. When the Aprilia starts riding a wheelie between the 2 cars and passes the stop sign. The stop sign starts spinning and says "CARS SUCK".
tC Driver 05-19-2006, 06:51 AM ^^Ya, that movie was horrible....except for the bikes/stunts. Ya gotta love the streetbikes going offroad too:lol:

quote of the week right there boys.
i dunno about the dynos on a z06. but i do know my c5 was a little over 300 rwhp. i also know it now runs 500 rwhp and is very stable at high speeds, a mustang however is really scary at high speeds, i took my 03 gt up to 240 kmph (which is pretty well almost top speed) and after i did i told myself never again. the vette however feels great. i have only had my 954 for a few days and i was suprise how slow the top end on it is compared to my XX. the XX give the definition of tunnel vision at top speed, especially one running 40 shot.:dthumb:
and as i have said before and will say again biker boys/ torque is the only place in the world where you can see a bike go through 14 gears and stop from 200 mph in 5 feet on a dirt road.
GixxerNHemi 05-19-2006, 05:43 PM Its all good and fun, but when I am 25 yrs old riding a Vette, I dont want all the women in town thinking I have a small weenie because I drive a Vette.

well....better get rid of the 600 than and get the 1000 or busa cause the women will think you are a wuss.:skep:
...well...the car also weighs 3000lbs vs. 400lbs for the bike.....forget price..i hate cost arguments...you get what you pay for.
talking about price/performance is useless because the Z06 is faster/handles better than a gallardo and costs 100k less.....but its a chevy made of plastic compared to a lambo....much more factors determine price than just speed.
I hate when people say well ill buy a civic for 10k and put 20k into it and KILL that gallardo that costs 170k. *great...now you have a fast civic!:bonk:
the gallardo isnt the best handling car either.....and neither is the bike.....it was just for the hell of it.

ok...going 170mph isnt THAT big of a deal.....it feels fast..yes....does it feel like my world is distorting...NO!....maybe at over 250mph.
150-160 is an every week thing for me...car or bike...kinda used to it by now.

You ever seen Dave Chapelle's skits about Charlie Murphy and Rick James? Your quote reminds me of one from those skits...
See, I never just did things just to do them. Come on, what am I gonna do? Just all of a sudden jump up and grind my feet on somebody's couch like it's something to do? Come on. I got a little more sense then that..........................Yeah, I remember grinding my feet on Eddie's couch.

Dip&Carve 07-10-2006, 07:26 PM I agree with Todd,
Bikes in general are a lot faster than most cars at lower speeds but a respectable car (like Todd's Corvette) will do well at higher speeds. But a lot of cars (not Corvettes) have a 150 mph limit on them don't they? That sucks for them. Overall bikes are better:cheers:
Chuckademus 07-10-2006, 10:31 PM "opinions are like a**holes, everyone has one..."
But you don't want to see yours on the 6'oclock news!
Recently, a worked BMW M3 raced (time trials) around Wakefield Park against a stock GSXR1000. Not Even Close! The car was between 5 - 7 secs a lap slower! Both Rider and Driver were similarly matched, i.e. not professionals, but club level racers. They wrote an article about it in Aust M'cycle News.
Cars suck! Street racing proves nothing! Get on a racetrack, lose your fears, your inhibitions, and your delusions all in one go!!!

Dip&Carve 07-13-2006, 08:29 PM GixxerNHemi said in the Top Gear video the Lambo handled better than the 999 on a track. Unless I saw a different video of the Lambo and Duc, I'm pretty sure the 999 actually handled better. In fact I'm sure it did. I just saw the video 2 days ago on Speed Channel. I believe the Duc came in .4 seconds faster overall and was doing on the average of .1 second better around turns than the Lambo. I'm not taking anything away from the Lambo. It's a sweet freaking car. Just making a correction to your post.
