GSXR vs. car?

This guy was driving a supercharged Corvette - I think the rider wasn't quite on his game or else he was on a 600: Bike vs. Car, I never wouldve thought it -- until I got my car Magged up. Please no flames, I'm not saying my car is faster than any bike, just this bike on this day. So you guys who ride sick bikes relax, I know some of 'em must be faster. My best friend rode Ducatis, street and then only track, (996's mostly, and 748 he could win on too) and would keep me in line back when I had any of my other Vettes and thought my car was "fast". Forget it. It was no contest, ever. Thats why I still can't believe it - it happened again today - on the only road you can do it on around here. It was me, a bunch of kids in a new CTS (not a V), a kid in a Infiniti G35 with some work done on it, and a guy on a GSXR, although I'm not sure which one. I'm casually cruisin' along, and the kids in the CTS were playing around trying to egg me on, tailin' me, etc, the Infinti kid was doing the same, and the bike was pulling up next to me, looking over, and blasting off, lifting the front of the bike, etc, then waiting for me to catch up....hmmmm ok. After a couple minutes of this, I'd had enough, So I dropped down a gear, WOT, and left all of them behind for a minute, (stick straight road, no traffic ahead). I backed off and the CTS kids went flying by even though there was a red light in front of us. We all came to the light, and I see the kid in the G35 behind me stick his head out the window and yell hey. I turn around like ? and he goes - "Dude you gotta race that bike --you can take him !!" The CTS kids were egging me on too, so I said f-ck it. Like I said, this is the only road around here like this. Long safe stretches - long visibility ahead. SO I waited till I was lined up with the GSXR and we both nailed it, with CTS and G35 boy side by side behind us, probably from a 40-50 roll. Once again, I chirped third on the Nittos, and my Magged Z pulled this bike almost a car length, I was thinking, aw man, no way, this is nuts, I bounced off the limiter in 4th cause I was looking to see where he was (mistake) and then looked at the speedo when I hit 5th and decided to back down - no need to keep going way deep into land you in jail territory, even though things ahead were clear. Of course the bike probably took it up to 160+ once I backed down. End of the story - the bike and the CTS kids caught up, and then turned off and waved. The G35 kid was at the next light with me. He was like "YEAAAH !" giving me the thumbs up. I said "Man, I cant beleive this car can beat a bike." He points and says "That car can! Your car is the ****. Hey I had work done to this and I just ran a 13." I was like "Cool. I have some work, too, y'know, I'm supercharged." He just shook his head pointed to my ride and said "Forget it. THAT's the car". As I've said before I am used to getting totally killed by bikes with any other car I've ever owned. AND I didnt get my magnacharger so I could street race bikes. I'm not even a hard core streetracer, I just love having a powerful Z. But Man I gotta say, it is a pretty cool feeling to pull away from a nasty little sport bike at WOT. Especially a GSXR. I wish I knew which GSXR it was. Sorry.

What I want to know is the hp on both machines. Take that with the weight of the machines to figure out the hp : weight ratio then we could talk about if the rider was a squid... :bash:

Me thinks not. A couple years ago, Sport Rider did an article pitting a Corvette against a GSXR, Kevin Scwantz rode both in time trials. Sorry, but no supercar will ever beat a crotch rocket.

I agree w/ chris, it's all about the power to weight ratio... 99.9999999 times out of hundred; its not even a contest..

so what if we are talking some real serious wheels, and put a F50 up against a GSXR, etc....the one of a few cars where it'd be a fun race to watch..

Even an F50 or a Ventura or some **** like that still would be hard pressed until well into triple digits to touch a sport bike. The fastest car in the world does 0-60 in 2.8 seconds. Any GSXR, R1, R6, Ninja, CBR, etc. can easily do that or better. And that is a $500k car vs. what a $10k bike? GTFOH. MFP.

I know a few cars that run in the 9s and 10s and are street driven ! And when they test bike's in the mags they get a few runs and are some of the best rider's to get those times. I ran a 11.4 on my R6. I had a little more, but didnt have leather pants. So i no there are cars that can take bike's. And if the guy on the bike cant drag race then :bash: forget it.

I used to run my car up against a few bikes before. I used to own a 95 Ford Mustang GT 5.0. After I was done adding everything to it I wanted. My fav thing was the Saleen Superchager that push out 300Hp its self to add to the rest I had done to it. Now that was a car that would keep up to some bikes. :dthumb:

maybe ninja 250, light to light :D LOL Yeah right. I was pushing out over 700Hp at the fly in that beast. Now if I was racing Twisty I am sure no way in hell I would win. Now these young guy on ther 600's and a few 750's that have not been even riding a yr I had np beating as well. Now if they did, I would go home and get my 900 and see what they think of seeing my tail light. :D

I had a guy on a Lexus last night that need to get a spanking about 6 times in a row. I don't know what he was thinking, as if I beat you the first 4 times and the 5th time is going to be different. I let him stay next to me a few times to about 130 or so then I'd just whip the throttle open and leave him in my 175mph dust. I mean come on, how lame can this guy be! Finally when I only had about 5 miles left on the h/w, I had to hold about 150 to leave him in the past....oops, sorry!

Hey L4L, welcome. But doin 175 is nuttin anymore. Heck I'll do it to about 140 or so and never put my left hand on the grip. Just chill one handed...maybe I'm being a bit complacent with it all, but I love it!

Check out the website CorvetteKillStories.com for video of a supercharged 'vette killing a GSXR 1000. The site hosts a ton of street racing & Track racing videos. Also, there is some bike vid's, I like the one of the guy dynoeing the turbocharged 'Busa... and then he later goes out and does a little street racing on it.... :redmc: Steve.

at Hot August ngihts in Reno this year there was a 71(I think) camero that was custom Twin turbo 383 stroker motor.....he had the dyno sheet posted...1007.9 HP and 545 lbs/ torque...AT IDLE. and about 800lbs peak I wouldnt line up agianst that car on a new ZX10R that was supercharged..... that car woulda ran low 9's... so unless u are a pro drag racer.. have fun trying to launch a higher power bike as hard as a high power car... i know my Z1000 will stomp on a GSXR 1000.... till aobut 80-90 MPH... (due to the fact my Z is capable off 170 plus but is geared to redline at 164)...all gearing to give me the lower speed edge. next year comes the wheelie bar and some mid 10 second runs... but theres still cars i wouldnt wanna line up against... only way id touch that camero is heavy traffic where i cna split lanes nad he cant.... cuz top speed or from a light hes gonna edge me everytime.. and as for the GSXR rider.... he prob wasnt a great drag racer.. launching is hard....i know i cant launch my Z half as hard as a pro rider with a EX500 could.. granted id catch em by the 8th but it takes a great launch for a great time and VERY few ppl can launch at a power level the bike is capable of.

Got you guys covered on the East Course at Pocono with my Vette :bash: for lap times. When I race my car I time the bikes and never found faster laps than my car. I was shocked.

I was shocked. a fast car will usually lap quicker at a race track..corner speeds in the cars are higher , has to be a fast car though....i think if you raced the full course at pocono the bike times would get closer due to the higher top ends on the big litre bikes and the longer straights on the tri-oval.though the vette will run in the 165-170 range also so it would be close..but would have to see the times posted to be 100% sure...

I know a guy in austin who has a turboed M-Roadster ( z3 with an m motor in it). He custom built the turbo kit and fully built motor. I saw him out run a CBR 929, then ran with an r1 from 30 to 150 (half a car length at 150). Craze stuff. The car only weights about 2500 pounds race wieght and was dynoed at 698 at the wheels.

I think the fastest bikes run 1:11 on the east course and I was running 1:08 at Pocono. i would try to time the fastest bike there. I was shocked but your right I slide through the corners on big rubber. The car has 470 RWHP and top about, well I did 190 but had to shut down. Might go a bit faster but 6th is an overdrive and i may not be able to pull it. Usually takes 500+ RWHP and the body kit adds drag also. Probably does low elevens. Car hits 165+ approaching tunnel turn then we turn at Devils elbow. We come out from the infield and down the front straight to approach turn one at 155 and never go below 125 in the banking. :smash: Wish I had a 427 not a 346 CI :bonk: http://www.angelfire.com/dragon2/gs96c599/3936JohnShiels.jpg
