R6 vs. Corvette

Found on a car forum...can a supercharged Corvette smoke an R6? Maybe it just cause it's hot outside now, or maybe I launch low, but I gotta say my Nitto R2s with this setup stick like crazy. I dropped a 40 roll - WOT -- against a dude on a new Yamaha (I think it was an R6? Things were moving pretty fast so I'm not sure what bike he was on, but it was new) and was suprised to see I got about 1/2 car length on him. Then later I took off and he was on my tail but not gaining any ground. Only time I've had anyone stay with me when I'm full throttle with the Magnusson. It was really fun. This guy was a good rider, too. Fast. It's rare to beat a bike with a car. But my car with the mag and Nittos apparently can do it. At least this time. First time I've ever done it, usually against a bike, any of my other vettes it would be no contest. But a Maggied Z06 takes off like a jet if you are hooked up well. At the next light the bike rider gave me a knowing nod and a wave before he rode on. Cool. I knew my car was fast but damn it was really fun to beat a guy on a sport bike. It took all I had, I just missed the limiter getting into 3rd. But I pulled 'em. Now I wanna see how I do against my buddy on his modded GSXR - I think he might still kill my ass but at least I have a challenge. He'll probably blow past me on one wheel, but I dont care - it'll be fun.

YEah i would destroy him ON my gsxr-750 and I would give the launch. On my 1000 I would give him a 2 car head start......Blah blah...it will take a 9 sec car to be a GSXR 1000. I dont think the Z06 is hitting 9 sec's

on a short distance..I'd say **coughcoughBULL****coughcough** ..but depending on how long they were racing, its possible.

I was riding my TL1000R when this Toyota Supra Superchaged pulled up beside me and just gave me that look. The light turned green and we were off. First time I ever had a car stay this close to be yet still behind me. It was a great race. They are fast cars. :D

They are fast cars. :D With the proper prep to a Super Supra it can get REALLY fast and eat some sportbikes...I've heard it many times...they are awesome rides.... :flush:

No way is a Vette going to touch an R6 at a 40 roll. 1. That guy is full of it - he probably doesn't even own a vette other than the barbie vette that his mommy bought him for not felching anymore and not tird burglering at the neighbor's house 2. That guy is full of it - refer to the felching and tird burgerling comment from before Get that guy's email and get him to meet me somewhere and I will do a 40 roll against him. I raced Shugg Night's "double" on the Davison in a Vette. That is the funniest thing when you are on a sportbike of any kind. You roll up to a Vette and say hey what year is that? blah blah How much did it run? Oh $50k, wow. That sucks because I spent $5k and I got your ass. Cages suck. Get that idiot Vette guy and let's see his 40 roll. MFP.

The vette only won the first race after he got to 160mph and then passed the bike. But WOW 690Hp vette. Thats a beast. The NOS Busa was very sweet as well. Post away and have some fun here. We all do. Even at 3am in the morning on here.

What kinda bike you ride? got any pics? and be sure to tell your friends to check us out here and join up! :) I ride a bad ass 2000 race replica huffy ninja with 18 speed sequential tranny, new huffy factory slick track tires(they stick like no other). 520 chain conversion kit, carbon fiber handlebars, painted house of colors candy blue with matching shoei helmet and mesh jacket, and "Tha Beast" as i refer to it, is dropped two inches. :) Jk Well, as of now, i dont have a street bike(comin soon). Ive been reading up on various bike forums to get all i could out of them and it has helped tremendiously. Ive been wanting a bike for long time but im taking it slow and tryin to get my collage applications, and car set first and formost. Next, i gotta have at the very least a grand in my bank account so when i move up state to collage next year, ill have some time to find a job. I also gotta have enough money to buy at least the basic gear(helmet,jacket,and probly boots) .I Already got moms approval(as a matter of fact she stated most of the guidlines above). It was pretty easy since i paid for my crx and pay for alot of other material items i may want So she trust me. And of course i didnt forget about MSF course which hopfully ill take soon. Im looking to mainly get a 200-2002 r6 or maybe a gixxer, f4i, or 600rr or similar years. Nothin new(dont want to tip it and cry all week jk). Ive decided to get a 600ss because ive got alot of time on 4 wheelers, and im also a pretty big guy a 240lbs. I also believe i have the maturity to maintain and respect the beast. Well, g2g. LOL :D no surpise there... :whistle: Choppa..If you've got some experience riding, and take your MSF course before you set tire on the road, you'll be better and be glad you did...I too used to ride/race ATV's and dirtbikes, and while riding a bike is riding a bike, the street is a whole different ball game, so the more you prepare yourself the better, and and older CBR 600 would be a great choice, easy to ride and plenty of power while you're getting feet wet and learning. Sounds like you have ur priorities straight,and if u need any advice, we have countless decades of riding experience in here, so ask away!

Isn't the R6 magazine time around 10.7 for the 1/4? Granted, if you put a poor rider on a bike, it will get beat by a good driver in a supercharged car, but most streetable cars can not get down into the tens.

Most of your cars can't even hit sub 12's let along touch a sub 11....

From 40 MPH roll is another story :yesnod: R6 may also have problems matching C5's top end, stock I could turn 174 MPH in 5th gear. Since adding over 200 HP who knows what speed I pull in 6th gear :D

power to weight ratio man, power to weight ratio!! thats where its at.. I'll put up an r6 up against a vette too. now top end, yeah that might be a different story, but how often do you get a chance to go at it with a vette or any other decent cage and actually race that long to find the utmost topend. ! :D

What kind of heads and cam are you talking about? What is the lift and duration? What is the spring tension? Do you have the dynos from the fuel system mods? Do you even have a clue what any of this means??

I used to have a Mustang GT 5.0 with a Saleen Superchager that was pushing out 300HP by its self and that gave one h3ll of a kick. :dthumb: I have a '69 Mach I with the Cleveland engine that pulled 300Hp from the showroom floor back in 1969. The engine I built for it is pulling closer to 450 and will give jetski's vette a good run. My sister still has her '70 rally sport Camaro with the 350/360 factory LT1 in it and I guarantee it will give a new vette a run

My old Mustang had a lot more then 300HP. that was just the supercharger. I had over 750HP in that beast and would have smoked the ***** out of a vette any day. But of course thats what alot of money dumped in one car will do. :dthumb: I miss that thing.

What all did you do to your camaro anyways and what HP did you get. I still have my dyno from last time I had it done with the Saleen supercharger on it and it had 752 at the rear wheels. The place Prestige is ok and does have a lot of vettes there. I wouldn't buy from there. I was looking in to a mustang there once before and they were trying to sell one as a "Cobra" and when I pulled the hood and saw it wasn't I fliped out and told them they are lieing about it. They removed the cobra from their listen and tried to tell me the prev owner said it was. All it had was the cobra emblem on it and thats it. :bash:

Which cam did you install? (manuf and model) what heads? what spring tension are you running, these are simple questions you should know off the top of your head, you spec'ed, bought and installed them , right? Anyone who has an engine apart knows the parts intimately. You just seem to "name drop" but avoid answering specific questions that you should be able to answer easily. That vette could have taken the six, providing the Yamaha was cruising in sixth gear at like 2,000 rpm sitting in traffic. But if the rider had half a brain, he would have never let it out of second gear and been a blip on the radar before the vette knew he was racing. The vette may have caught the R6 off-gaurd the first time around, but shame on the microscopic ka-honas of the rider who let himself get spanked twice. Oh yeah, and since they did this a couple of times, they certainly weren't on a highway where either person was able to hit top-speed without hitting a the car in front. I'm guessing they were in mild traffic a couple cars back from the light, so top speed probably wasn't an issue. Somebody call MythBusters so we can put this thread to rest.

Well I think N4S said it all....Power to weight ratio.... the only other thing to consider is gear ratio....but that should all be relatively equal!!

My Corvtte has turned faster lap times on the Pocono east course than any bikes I have seen run on it. For real, I was shocked myself.
