Top racers in lower leagues-

Tony Stewart (fresh off a NASCAR championship) is racing in a midget car race in Indy. Last year at the same race he entered under an alias and in a junker car and killed the field. This makes me think; Is it OK for top racers to "step down" from their top leagues and race? Imagine Moto GP guys showing up at your WERA round on a borrowed 600 and lapping the field. (hypothetical of course and not common in motorcycle racing) But is it fair, beneficial, unethical, alright, racing is racing....?

As long as they are using legal equipment. I don't care either way. In most all racing, its the rider/driver that makes the win more than the bike/car. Money has a way of showing its self in performance upgrades but all of us that follow the racing world have seen a privateer in AMA give the factory guys h3ll more than once. They usually are the ones that get the open factory rides when available.

I think when a big name professional steps down and race in a lower league. They are just doing what they love to do when it may not be possible in their league. RACE! Or maybe they feel like they need to return to their roots to practice techniques or even to practice on certain tracks for up and coming races.

I think if I was a struggling racer I'd be pissed. These guys have total access to all the best stuff from bikes, to race teachers, to endless amounts of track time by themselves (rented tracks), ect....
