http://www.motorcycledaily.com/020806_top.jpg Kawasaki has released their final (claimed) horsepower and torque specs for their highly anticipated ZX-14 sportbike. Many media outlets had expected Kawasaki to claim 200hp for the ZX-14, but Kawasaki defied expectations - the published specs are 187hp and 113.5lb-ft of torque, with 197hp when the ram-air system is in effect. So the ZX-14 may not quite reach the magic 200hp mark, but how will it perform? Keep your eye on MD to see our 'First Ride' of the ZX-14 in late March. I'm guessing that is at the pavement... What is the stock Busa numbers?

its gonna give the Busa a run for it, if not just clearly beat it, till suzuki redoes the busa finally. But its gonna be a good bike... if it just handles as well as a zx12R itll be a good all around bike like the busa...... and DAMN i bet it can do some nice wheelies.

I remember reading a century ago that the manufacturers had a gentlemen's agreement not to make suicide bikes. Bikes that were capable of pushing federal regulations to limit it's speed (power). I think they settled on not exceding over 185 mph stock. This made the earlier busa's faster than the later ones. -a|ex

Hold the bus. Motorcyclist mag came today. It does a gentlemanly 186 mph. The comparison to the hydroelectric power delivery had me over looking her portly figure pretty quick. Claimed dry weight is 474. I owned an eyeabusea. That 100 lbs of torque can have you saying F the looks pretty fast. This bike is every bit as ugly but the dash looked pretty good. So as long as you don't get off it's all good right?. Probably won't want to either. The ergos are between a zx10r & bmw1200ks. Has a gear position indicator too. Big plus to me. Hate grabing for 7th. With back to back mid to upper 9's at 2100 feet above sea level. The only reference to cow buttholes that fits. Is the one you will need to ride this bovine. I still remember those long country rides not thinking about cyropractors & getting old. & when the road got straight it was still damn fun. Think I'm going to go sit on one & see what it says. Hope it's more than just MOO.

Out the box, i dont think youre going to see anything that tops 187mph. thank that "gentlemans agreement". But theres still the '99 Busa, the pre-limited bike. Like busabeater refrencing the TRE, its not like theyre making it hard to uncork the power... they just want to get the bikes in the country. I'd buy one for a good price.

Now wait a second. I saw the ZX14 at the show in November, and when you see it in person the bike is beautiful. Especially in red, although it looked good in black too. Sitting on it was even better. The seat felt terrific and the bars came right to hand. Motorcycle Consumer News (May, 2006) was one of the magazines who tested it in Las Vegas. The editor got a 9.726 @ 146.13. The last Hayabusa they tested was in 99 which got a 9.84 @ 142.76. On the street, he said the Zx14 felt light and well-balanced. The seat felt good, the mirrors were useful, and there was an absence of engine vibration at every rpm. He said the light handling made the twisty roads fun. Where do I sign up?

I personaly just dont know I mean even if it feels light still a rough 480lbs thats a big old bike and thats even dry weight. I mean I know I only have a 600 but its 100lbs less in dry weight.. That one big hog. Granted its gunna blow away anything in the straights I dont know just HOW nimble in the twisties it would be. just my:2cents:

Word is, the 2007 'busa is gonna be an all new 1500cc monster. which is still pointless when you think about it....how many street guys can utilize even 1/2 to 3/4 of 1st gear from the line??? what...maybe 1/50 guyz on these things can handle the 1000+cc bikes in 1st gear and 2nd too...at full throttle......so whats the point....even as we stand...when pros get 9.7 1/4 times on the busa.....most average joes are lucky to see mid 10s...so why do they need a "faster" accel bike?

Did you take it for a test spin? I did not. The only employee that rode it was the tech that prepped it. The initial test ride isn't too exciting...I try to keep the rpm's low and concentrate more on bedding the brakes. ppl want em faster so a suckier rider can beat a better rider on a slow bike and catch em at the end of the track....they had amatuers with coaching running 9's the first couple passes. its set up to be easier to drag then the busa too... less wheelie prone.

Our dealership just got their third one. The first two were sold before they arrived and the owner picked them up before I got to see them. This one kinda surprised them they didn't expect it to show up till next week. So they rolled out this morning while were wer sitting there. I sat on it and I have to say It does feel light as a feather. It feels lighter than my buddys 05 R6. I know its not and its probably jsut bottom heavy or something. I wouldn't mind taking one for a spin but I just think they are UGLY!!!! Like someone said to each their own. I respect the bike and anyone who can handle it but its not for me.
