Has your bike emerged from winter hibernation?ShanMan14 03-05-2006, 12:08 PM Has your bike emerged from winter hibernation? DLIT 03-05-2006, 12:18 PM What's winter? rider76 03-05-2006, 02:16 PM I never put my bike up for the winter. i keep it in a heated garage, And i start it every other day to keep the battery up. only thing i did was put stabilt in the gas to keep it from going bad. on nice days all i do is start it and go.. longest i went without riding this winter was 3 weeks!!! gixxer1333 03-05-2006, 07:00 PM :readng: I read an article that starting your bike up and shutting it off for short periods of time may cause rust in your motor. Simple condensation in your exhaust can be brought right into your internals just from the warmth of your engine.Even the manufactures say not to start the bike up. I use Stabil and keep a automatic trickle charger on it through the winter to keep the battery up to par.:dthumb: jeeps84 03-05-2006, 07:14 PM My bikes only rest. They await their turn for a day out. The Monster had the honors today:D No more than 3 weeks for me too. I don't think I ever actually went that long this year. Trip 03-05-2006, 07:25 PM Unfortunately mine just went into hibernation for a couple weeks while I am in north alabama. I don't know how you can stand it down here Shan. I am in Decatur for the Brown's Ferry refuel. I do not like Bammers. R1up0n1 03-05-2006, 07:28 PM I just picked up my bike which it was always in a heated shop. i got it all ready to ride. Gas Man 03-05-2006, 08:14 PM gixxer is right... the start it up every once and a while idea is actually really bad for the bike....

I feel as sick as you with the nice weather predicted for this weekend. Unfortunately, my bike is still in pieces. I dropped my plastics off at the shop yesterday for paint. I still have to order my SS lines and clutch lever. I should be good to go by the end of the month. Snow bird? Not really. It doesn't snow that much here but, 30 degree days are normal from November through March. Still slip in the occasional 50 degree ridding day every once in a while.:D EIDROEDYR 03-20-2006, 07:00 AM My ride officially came out of hibernation yesterday. In the last two weekends I've done the regular maintenance (new plugs, air filter, switched to synthetic oil, etc.), installed my SS lines, installed a few cosmetic goodies, and installed my repainted plastics. It's leaking just a touch when the engine heats up...of course it's where the fairing doesn't cover the underside...so it looks on to the rear a little. Makes for a more motard like ride as the rear slides just a weeee bit until the oil wipes off. :yikes:
